1 IntroductionThank you for purchasing the UCOM Twintalker 4710. Its a short range, low powered radiocommunication device with a range of maximum 5 Km. It has no running costs other than theminimal cost of re-charging the batteries.TheTwinTalker operates on 8 channels.The Twintalker is protected against vertically falling water drops when enclosure tilted up to15 according to the IPX2 standard.

2 Intended purposeIt can be used for different professional purposes. For example: support crane operation. Itcan be used for recreational purposes. For example: to keep in contact during travelling with2 or more cars, biking, skiing. It can be used to keep in contact with your children when theyare playing outside, etc...

3 CE MarkThe CE symbol on the unit, user guide and giftbox indicates that the unit complies with theessential requirements of the R&TTE directive 1995/5/EC.

4 Safety instructions

4.1 GeneralPlease read carefully through the following information concerning safety and proper use.Make yourself familiar with all functions of the device. Keep this manual in a safe place forfuture use.

4.2 Burning injuries If the cover of the antenna is damaged, do not touch because when an antenna comes

in contact with the skin, a minor burn may result when transmitting. Batteries can cause property damage such as burns if conductive material such as

jewellery, keys or beaded chains touches exposed terminals.The material may completean electrical circuit (short circuit) and become quite hot. Exercise care in handling anycharged battery, particularly when placing it inside a pocket, purse or other container

with metal objects.

4.3 Injuries Do not place your device in the area over an air bag or in the air bag deployment area.

Air bags inflate with great force. If a PMR is placed in the bag deployment area and theair bag inflates, the communicator may be propelled with great force and cause seriousinjury to the occupants of the vehicle.

Keep the PMR at least 15 centimetres away from a pacemaker. Turn your PMR OFF as soon as interference is taking place with medical equipment.

4.4 Danger of explosion Do not replace batteries in a potentially explosive atmosphere. Contact sparking may

occur while installing or removing batteries and cause an explosion. Turn your PMR off when in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere. Sparks in

such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death. Never throw batteries in fire as they may explode.

4.5 Poisoning danger

Keep batteries away from small children.

4.6 Legal In some countries it is prohibited to use your PMR while driving a vehicle. In this case

leave the road before using the device. Turn your PMR OFF when on board an aircraft when instructed to do so. Any use of the

PMR must be in accordance with airline regulations or crew instructions. Turn your PMR OFF in any facilities where posted notices instruct you to do so.

Hospitals or health care facilities may be using equipment that is sensitive to external RF

energy. Replacing or modifying the antenna may affect the PMR radio specifications and violatethe CE regulations. Unauthorised antennas could also damage the radio.

4.7 Notes Do not touch the antenna while transmitting, it could affect the range. Remove the batteries if the device is not going to be used for a long period.

5 Cleaning and maintenance

To clean the unit, wipe with a soft cloth dampened with water. Dont use a cleaner orsolvents on the unit; they can damage the case and leak inside, causing permanentdamage.

Battery contacts may be wiped with a dry lint-free cloth. If the unit gets wet, turn it off and remove the batteries immediately. Dry the battery

compartment with a soft cloth to minimize potential water damage. Leave the cover offthe battery compartment overnight or until completely dry. Do not use the unit untilcompletely dry.

Areas with potentially explosive atmospheres are often, but not always,clearly marked. They include fuelling areas such as below deck onboats, fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities; areas where the aircontains chemicals or particles, such as grain, dust or metal powders;and any other area where you would normally be advised to turn offyour vehicle engine.

6 Disposal of the device (environment) At the end of the product lifecycle, you should not throw this product into thenormal household garbage but bring the product to a collection point for therecycling of electrical and electronic equipments. The symbol on the product,user guide and/or box indicate this.

Some of the product materials can be re-used if you bring them to a recycling point. By re-using some parts or raw materials from used products you make an important contribution tothe protection of the environment. Please contact your local authorities in case you needmore information on the collection points in your area.

7 Using a PMR deviceTo communicate between PMR devices they need to be set all on the same channel andCTCSS code and within receiving range (up to max. 5 km in open field). Since these devices

use free frequency bands (channels), all devices in operation share these channels(total 8channels). Therefore, privacy is not garanteed. Anybody with a PMR set to your channel canoverhear the conversation. If you want to communicate (transmitting a voice signal) youneed to press the PTT -button .Once this button pressed, the device will go into transmit mode and you can speak into themicrophone. All other PMR devices in range , on the same channel and in standby mode (nottransmitting) will hear your message. You need to wait until the other party stops transmittingbefore you can reply to the message. At the end of each transmission the unit will send abeep if the Roger Beep is enable (see chapter 14.17). To reply, just press the PTT -button

and speak into the microphone.

If 2 or more users press the PTT- button at the same time the receiverwill receive only the stongest signal and the other signal(s) will besupressed. Therefore you should only transmit a signal (press PTT-button ) when the channel is free.

9 Getting started

9.1 Installing/Removing the BeltClip

1. To install the belt clip, align the pin withthe hole in the backside. Gently pushuntil it clicks into position.

2. To remove the belt clip from the unit,push the belt clip (A), while pulling theclip away from the unit (B).

9.2 Battery Installation1. Remove the belt clip (See chapter

9.1.2).2. Pull the battery cover tab (C) and gentlyremove the battery cover.

3. Install the rechargeable battery packfollowing the polarity as shown. Themetal contacts (D) should faceoutwards from the radio to connect onthe battery door. Or install 3 AAAalkaline or rechargeable batteriesfollowing the polarity as shown.

4. Re-install the Battery Cover and BeltClip (See chapter 9.1.1).

10 Charging batteries

11 Battery Charge LevelThe BATTERY CHARGE LEVEL is indicated by the number of squares present inside theBATTERY icon on the LCD Display.

When the battery charge level is low, a beep will be heard.

When NiMh battery packs are installed, the desktopcharger provides drop-in charging conveniency

1. Put the desktop charger on a flat surface.2. Plug the supplied adapter into the electricsocket. Pay attention to the mentioned voltageand compare this with the indications of thepower supply. Connect the low tension plug atthe end of the cable with the connector onthe backside of the desktop charger.

3. Put the PMR in the charger as indicated.4. The charging LED will turn on if its properly

inserted and charging.

It will take about 12 to 14 hours to fully charge the bat-teries. There is no indication on the display when thebatteries are being charged.

The device can also operate with 3 x AAA NiMh batteries or with 3 x AAAAlkaline batteries.3 x AAA batteries cannot be charged with the charger.

14 Using the Twintalker 4710

14.1 Turning the Unit ON/OFF

14.3 Receiving a SignalThe unit is continuously in the RECEIVE mode when the unit is switched ON and nottransmitting.

14.4 Transmitting a Signal

To turn ON: Press and hold the - button for 2 seconds. The unit will

beep and the LCD display will display the current channel.To switch OFF: Press and hold the - button for 2 seconds. The unit will

beep and the LCD display will turn blank.

Press the - button in stand-by-mode to increase thespeaker volume. The volume level is displayed.

Press the - button to decrease the speaker volume.

Press and hold the PTT - button to TRANSMIT. The TXsymbol is displayed.

Hold the unit in a vertical position with the MICROPHONE 10cmfrom the mouth and speak into the microphone.

Release the PTT - button when you want to stop

transmitting.

In order for other people to receive your transmission, they must also beon the same channel and have set the same CTCSS code. (See chapter

14.5 Changing Channels

14.6 CTCSS (Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System)

The 2 digit CTCSS code corresponds to a specific tone frequency the radio emits. Two users,with the same channel and CTCSS set can hear one another.They will not be able to hearanyone else on the channel unless the other radios have the same exact CTCSS codeenabled. The Twintalker 4710 has 38 CTCSS codes available.

14.7 Monitor

You can use the monitor feature to check for weaker signals in the current channel.

Press and hold the -button to activate channel monitoring. Release the -button to stop monitoring.

14.8 Baby Monitor functionOne of the units can be set as Babymonitor. The radio will transmit a signal when it isactivated by the crying baby or another sound in the room (VOX).The PMR will no longer be able to receive signals to avoid that your baby is disturbed during

his sleep.The other PMR must be set to the same channel and CTCSS code to receive the signal fromthe Baby Monitor.

Press the - button once, the current channel numberflashes on the display.

Press the - button or the - button to change thechannel.

Press the PTT - button to confirm and return to stand-bymode.

Press the - button twice, the current CTCSS codeflashes on the display.

Press the - button or the - button to change toanother code.

14.9 Call Tones A call tone alerts others that you want to start talking.

14.9.1 Setting the Call ToneThe Twintalker 4710 has 10 call tones

14.9.2 Sending a call TonePress the button briefly. The call tone will be transmitted on the set channel.

Press the - button three times, the current Baby Voxsetting flashes on the display and the BABY icon is displayed.

Press the - button to turn the BABY MONITOR functionON. Use the - button and the - button to select theVOX sensitivity level (1 to 3) which displayed.


In stand-by, press the - button three times, the currentBaby Vox setting flashes on the display and the BABY icon isdisplayed.

Press the - button until OF appears on the display, toturn the babymonitor off.


Press the - button four times, is displayed. Press the - button or the - button to change to

another Call Tone. Select OF to disable the call tones. Press the PTT - button to confirm and return to stand-by

mode.

In Baby Monitor mode, different functions are disabled (accept ButtonLock, Menu and On/Off function). Only when the Baby Monitor mode isdisabled, all functions can be used again.

14.10 VOX SelectionThe PMR is capable of voice activated (VOX) transmission. In VOX mode, the radio willtransmit a signal when it is activated by your voice or other sound around you. VOX operationis not recommended if you plan to use your radio in a noisy or windy environment.

14.11 Squelch level selectionThe adjustable Squelch allows you to optimise the radios sensitivity. It also allows you toincrease the sensitivity and receive weaker signals.There are 4 decreasing levels of sensitivity. 1 is the most sensitive, for detecting the weakestsignals. 4 is the least sensitive, for hearing only stronger signals and cutting outinterference from weak signals. At higher sensitivity settings it is normal to hear occasionally background static noise.

Press the - button five times, the current VOX settingflashes on the display and the VOX icon is displayed.

Press the -button to turn the VOX feature ON. Press the-button again to set the VOX sensitivity level between 1

and 3. Press the button until OF appears on the display,to turn VOX OFF.


Press the - button six times, the current Squelch Levelflashes on the display.

Press the - button or the - button to change toanother Squelch Level


When you use the PMR with the supplied earpiece (See chapter 15),

the VOX function will be disabled as soon as you plug in theearpiece connector.

14.12 Channel ScanChannel scan performs searches for active signals in an endless loop from channel 1 to 8including the CTCSS codes.

14.13 Dual Channel scanIn stand-by, the PMR is set on one set channel with CTCSS code. The PMR will only receive

signals transmitted on that channel and CTCSS code.Dual Channel Monitor allows you to monitor a second channel with CTCSS code.

Press the -button seven times to disable the function. Then press the - buttonor the - button until OF is displayed.

When the Dual Channel Monitor function is activated, the PMR will switch sequentiallybetween the standby channel + CTCSS and the Dual Channel + CTCSS.When there is activity on the Dual Channel + CTCSS, the active channel will be displayedfor 5 seconds after the activity has ended. Within this period, you have the posibility to answerthe transmission.

Press the - button briefly to activate Channel Scan. Thechannel scan icon is displayed.

When an active signal (one of 8 channels) is detected, press thePTT - button to fix the channel and starts communicating

over the active channel. If you dont press the PTT - button ,Channel Scan will restart after 5 seconds. Press the - button or the - button to bypass the

current channel and continue to search for another activechannel.

Press the - button briefly to deactivate Channel Scan.

Press the - button seven times, the dual channel scanicon appears on the display.

Press the - button or the - button to change thechannel.

Press the - button to confirm the channel selection andgo to CTCSS SUB-CHANNEL SELECTION.

Press the - button or the - button to change the

CTCSS. Press the PTT - button to confirm and return to stand-bymode.

When you start the Channel Scan function when your CTCSS - codeis set to 0, the PMR will search for all signals (with or without

CTCSS - code). When you start the Channel Scan function when you have set a

CTCSS - code (1 - 38), the PMR will only search for signals withCTCSS - code. Signal without CTCSS - code will be ignored.

14.14 Automatic Power Off (APO)To save energy, you can activate the Automatic Power Off function. In case you forgot toPower Off the unit, it will switch Off automatically after the set time.

14.15 Key Tone On/Off When a button is pressed, the unit will beep briefly.

14.16 Chronometer The Twintalker 4710 has a chronometer function (mm:ss).

Press the - button eight times, the current Power OFFtime flashes on the display.

Press the - button or the - button to change toanother time (1 - 12 hour). Select OF to disable the APOfeature.


Press the - button nine times, the current Key Tonesetting flashed on the display.

Press the - button or the - button to enable (ON) ordisable (OF) the Key Tone.


Press the - button ten times. The counter is displayed. Press the - button to start counting. Press the - button again to stop counting and see the lap

time. The counter continues in the background. Press the -button to proceed counting.

When the counter is stopped, press the - button to resetthe counter.

After selecting this function, and also after resetting the counter, themeasurement should be started within 5 seconds. If not, the device shallreturn to stand-by.

15 Earpiece connectionThe Twintalker 4710 can be used with the included earpiece.The connector is located under the protective rubber cover on the right side of the unit .To attach the earpiece, remove the rubber flap to expose the connector.Insert the earpiece plug into the connector (2,5mm jack).The small button on the earpiece has the same function as the PTT button on the unitWhen you use the PTT - Button from the Earpiece, you must also use the microphone fromthe earpiece wire.

Press the - button eleven times, the current Roger Beepsetting flashes on the display.

Press the - button or the - button to enable (ON) ordisable (OF) the Roger Beep.


Press and hold the - button for 3 seconds to activate theButton Lock mode. The Button Lock icon is displayed on the LCDScreen.

Press and hold the - button again to deactivate ButtonLock.

No transmission Make sure the PTT - button is pressedcompletely before you speak.

Monitor the channel activity and switch to anotherchannel if the current is used.No reception Check the speaker volume.

Make sure that you are in the reception range ofthe sender and change if necessary your location.

Limited Range and noice duringtransmission

The talking range depends on the terrain.Steal constructions, concrete buildings or the usein vehicles have a bad influence on the range.Try to avoid as many obstacles as possible and

communicate in a clear line of sight.Change your locations.Interference The receiver and transmitter are too close. The

mimimum distance between 2 units is 1,5m.

20 Warranty

20.1 Warranty periodUcom units have a 36-month warranty period. The warranty period starts on the day the newunit is purchased. Consumables or defects causing a negligible effect on operation or valueof the equipment are not covered.The warranty has to be proven by presentation of a copy of the original purchase receipt, onwhich the date of purchase and the unit-model are indicated.

20.2 Warranty handling A faulty unit needs to be returned to an authorized service centre including a valid purchase

note. If the unit develops a fault during the warranty period, the service centre will repair anydefects caused by material or manufacturing faults free of charge.The service centre will at its discretion fulfil its warranty obligations by either repairing orexchanging the faulty units or parts of the faulty units. In case of replacement, colour andmodel can be different from the original purchased unit.The initial purchase date shall determine the start of the warranty period. The warranty periodis not extended if the unit is exchanged or repaired by the appointed service centres.

20.3 Warranty exclusionsDamage or defects caused by incorrect treatment or operation and damage resulting fromuse of non-original parts or accessories are not covered by the warranty.The warranty does not cover damage caused by outside factors, such as lightning, water andfire, nor any damage caused during transportation.No warranty can be claimed if the serial number on the units has been changed, removed orrendered illegible.

1 InleidingHartelijk dank voor het aanschaffen van de UCOM Twintalker 4710. Dit is eenradiocommunicatieapparaat met een kort bereik van maximaal 5 km en een laag vermogen.Er zijn geen gebruikskosten, op de minimale kosten na van het opladen van de batterijen.De Twintalker werkt met 8 kanalen. Het apparaat kan worden aangewend in elk land waarinhet gebruik is toegestaan, zoals wordt weergegeven op de verpakking en in dezehandleiding.De Twintalker wordt beschermd tegen verticaal vallende waterdruppels wanneer debehuizing 15 wordt gekanteld volgens de IPX2-norm.

2 GebruiksdoelHet kan worden gebruikt voor verschillende professionele doeleinden. Bijvoorbeeld:ondersteuning bij kraanwerkzaamheden. Het kan worden gebruikt voor verschillenderecreationele doeleinden. Bijvoorbeeld: om contact te houden wanneer u op reis bent in 2 of

meer voertuigen of tijdens het fietsen of skien. Ook kunt u hiermee contact houden met uwkinderen, bv. wanneer zij buiten spelen.

3 CE-markeringDe CE-markering op het toestel, de handleiding en de verpakking geeft aan dat het toestelvoldoet aan de basiseisen van de R&TTE-richtlijn 1995/5/EG.

4 Veiligheidsinstructies

4.1 AlgemeenLees de volgende informatie over de veiligheid en een correct gebruik zorgvuldig door. Stelu op de hoogte van alle functies van het toestel. Bewaar deze handleiding op een veiligeplaats voor later gebruik.

4.2 Brandwonden Raak de antenne niet aan als de afdekking van de antenne is beschadigd, want als een

antenne in contact komt met de huid bij het zenden, kan dit leiden tot kleinebrandwonden.

Batterijen kunnen schade aan materiaal veroorzaken, bijvoorbeeld brandplekken, alsgeleidend materiaal (zoals sieraden, sleutels of kralenkettingen) in aanraking komt metde blootliggende contacten. Het materiaal kan een elektrisch circuit sluiten (kortsluiting)en erg heet worden. Hanteer opgeladen batterijen met zorg, vooral als u deze in eenzak, tas of andere houder met metalen voorwerpen plaatst.

4.3 Letsel Plaats het toestel niet boven een airbag of in de buurt waar de airbag zich opblaast.

Airbags worden met veel kracht opgeblazen. Als een PMR zich bevindt in de radius van

de airbag op het moment dat deze wordt geactiveerd, kan het toestel met grote krachtworden weggeslingerd en de inzittenden van het voertuig ernstig verwonden. Houd de PMR ten minste 15 centimeter verwijderd van een pacemaker. Schakel uw PMR onmiddellijk UIT in geval van interferentie met medische apparatuur.

4.4 Explosiegevaar Vervang de batterijen niet in een omgeving waar explosiegevaar bestaat. Bij het

installeren of verwijderen van de batterijen kunnen contactvonken ontstaan, die eenexplosie kunnen veroorzaken.

Schakel uw PMR uit wanneer u zich bevindt in een omgeving waar explosiegevaarbestaat. Vonken kunnen in een dergelijke omgeving brand of een explosie veroorzaken,met lichamelijk letsel of zelfs de dood tot gevolg.

Werp batterijen nooit in vuur, aangezien ze dan kunnen ontploffen.

4.5 Vergiftigingsgevaar Houd batterijen uit de buurt van kleine kinderen.

4.6 Regelgeving In bepaalde landen is het verboden om onder het rijden uw PMR te gebruiken. Ga in dit

geval aan de kant staan voordat u het toestel gebruikt. Schakel uw PMR UIT aan boord van een vliegtuig wanneer u hierom wordt verzocht.

Gebruik van de PMR dient in overeenstemming te zijn met de voorschriften van deluchtvaartmaatschappij of de instructies van de bemanning.

Schakel uw PMR UIT op plaatsen waar waarschuwingsbordjes u vragen dit te doen.Ziekenhuizen of gezondheidscentra kunnen apparaten gebruiken die gevoelig zijn voorvan buitenaf komende radiofrequentie-signalen.

Het vervangen of wijzigen van de antenne kan de PMR-radiospecificaties benvloedenen inbreuk maken op de CE-voorschriften. Niet-goedgekeurde antennes kunnen ook deradio beschadigen.

4.7 Opmerkingen Raak de antenne niet aan tijdens het zenden; dit kan het bereik benvloeden. Verwijder de batterijen als u het toestel langere tijd niet gebruikt.

5 Reiniging en onderhoud Reinig het toestel met een vochtige doek. Gebruik hiervoor alleen water. Gebruik geen

reinigings- of oplosmiddelen op het toestel; deze kunnen de behuizing beschadigen ennaar binnen lekken, wat kan leiden tot blijvende beschadigingen.

Gebruik een droge, pluisvrije doek om de batterijcontacten te reinigen. Schakel het toestel direct uit en verwijder de batterijen wanneer het toestel nat is

geworden. Droog het batterijvak met een zachte doek om mogelijke waterschade toteen minimum te beperken. Laat het afdekplaatje van het batterijvak een nacht lang openof totdat het volledig droog is. Gebruik het toestel niet voordat dit volledig droog is.

Omgevingen waar explosiegevaar bestaat zijn vaak, maar niet altijd,duidelijk aangegeven. Hieronder vallen brandstoftankruimtes, zoalsonderdeks op schepen, overslag- of opslagplaatsen voor brandstof ofchemicalin; omgevingen waar de lucht chemicalin of deeltjes bevat,zoals graan, stof of metaaldeeltjes; en elke andere omgeving waar ugewoonlijk wordt geadviseerd de motor van uw voertuig uit te schakelen.

6 Afvoeren van het toestel (milieu)Op het einde van de levenscyclus van het product mag u dit product niet met hetnormale huishoudelijke afval weggooien, maar moet u het naar een inzamelpuntbrengen voor de recyclage van elektrische en elektronische apparatuur. Ditwordt aangeduid door het symbool op het product, in de handleiding en/of op deverpakking.

Sommige materialen van het product kunnen worden hergebruikt als u ze naar eeninzamelpunt brengt. Door onderdelen of grondstoffen van gebruikte producten tehergebruiken, levert u een belangrijke bijdrage aan de bescherming van het milieu. Wend utot uw plaatselijke overheid voor meer informatie over de inzamelpunten in uw buurt.

7 Een PMR-toestel gebruikenOm met andere PMR-toestellen te kunnen communiceren, dienen deze allemaal ophetzelfde kanaal te zijn afgestemd en zich binnen het ontvangstbereik te bevinden (tot max.

5 km in open veld). Aangezien deze toestellen vrij toegankelijke frequentiebanden gebruiken(kanalen), delen alle werkende toestellen dezelfde kanalen (8 kanalen in totaal). Privacy isdaarom niet gegarandeerd. Iedereen met een PMR die op uw kanaal is afgestemd, kan hetgesprek afluisteren. Druk op de PTT -toets als u wilt communiceren (een spraaksignaaluitzenden).Zodra deze toets wordt ingedrukt, wordt de zend-modus van het toestel ingeschakeld en kuntu in de microfoon spreken. Alle andere PMR-toestellen binnen het uitzendbereik, die ophetzelfde kanaal staan afgestemd en in de standby-modus (niet zenden) staan, kunnen uwbericht horen. U moet wachten totdat uw gesprekspartner stopt met zenden voordat u kuntantwoorden. Na het zenden zal het toestel een geluidssignaal laten horen als het Roger-signaal is ingeschakeld (zie hoofdstuk 14.17). U hoeft enkel dePTT -toets in te drukkenen in de microfoon te spreken om te antwoorden.

Als 2 of meer gebruikers de PTT-toets tegelijkertijd indrukken,ontvangt de ontvanger enkel het sterkste signaal, waarbij alle anderesignalen worden geblokkeerd. Zend daarom alleen uit (door op de PTT-toets te drukken) als het kanaal vrij is.

9.1 De riemclip verwijderen/installeren

1. Lijn de pin uit met het gat aan deachterzijde om de riemclip teinstalleren. Duw voorzichtig totdat dezein positie klikt.

2. Duw op de riemclip (A) terwijl u de clipvan het toestel (B) af trekt om deriemclip van het toestel te verwijderen

9.2 Batterijen plaatsen1. Verwijder de riemclip (zie hoofdstuk

9.1.2).2. Trek aan de lip van het batterijdeksel

(C) en verwijder het deksel voorzichtig.3. Installeer het oplaadbare batterijpakvolgens de aangegeven polariteit. Demetalen contactpunten (D) moetenvanaf de radio naar buiten wijzen omcontact te maken met hetbatterijdeksel. Of installeer 3 'AAA'alkaline of oplaadbare batterijenvolgens de getoonde polariteit.

Er klinkt een geluidssignaal als het laadniveau van de batterijen erg laag is.

Als het NiMH-batterijpak is genstalleerd, kunt u hettoestel gemakkelijk opladen door het in debureaulader te plaatsen.

1. Plaats de bureaulader op een vlak oppervlak.2. Steek de bijgeleverde adapter in het

stopcontact. Let op de genoemde spanning envergelijk deze met de indicaties van hetelektriciteitsnet. Sluit de laagspanningsstekkerop het uiteinde van de kabel aan op deconnector aan de achterzijde van debureaulader.

3. Plaats de PMR in de lader zoals aangegeven.4. Het laad-LED gaat branden als het toestel juistis geplaatst en aan het laden is.

Het volledig laden van de batterijen duurt ongeveer12 tot 14 uur. Het wordt niet weergegeven op dedisplay als de batterijen worden opgeladen.

gaan "piepen" en de LCD-display zal zwart worden.

Druk op de -toets in de standby-modus om hetluidsprekervolume te verhogen. Het volumeniveau wordt

14.5 Van kanaal veranderen


De 2 tekens tellende CTCSS-code komt overeen met een specifieke toonfrequentie die deradio uitzendt. Twee gebruikers die hetzelfde kanaal en dezelfde CTCSS hebben ingesteld,kunnen elkaar horen. Ze kunnen niemand anders op het kanaal horen, tenzij de andereradio's precies dezelfde CTCSS-code hebben ingesteld. De Twintalker 4710 beschikt over38 CTCSS-codes.

14.7 MonitorU kunt de monitorfunctie gebruiken om op het huidige kanaal te zoeken naar zwakkeresignalen.

Houd de -toets ingedrukt om kanaalbewaking in te schakelen. Laat de -toets los om te stoppen met bewaken.

Druk eenmaal op de -toets , het huidige kanaalnummerknippert op de display.

Druk op de -toets of op de -toets om van kanaal teveranderen.

Druk op dePTT -toets om te bevestigen en terug te kerennaar de standby-modus.

14.8 BabymonitorfunctieEen van de eenheden kan worden ingesteld als babymonitor De radio zal een signaal sturenals het wordt geactiveerd door een huilende baby of een ander geluid in de kamer (VOX).De PMR zal niet langer signalen kunnen ontvangen om te voorkomen dat uw baby tijdens deslaap wordt gestoord.De andere PMR moet worden ingesteld op hetzelfde kanaal en dezelfde CTCSS-code omhet signaal te kunnen ontvangen van de babymonitor.

14.9 OproeptonenMet een oproeptoon laat u anderen weten dat u wilt praten.

14.9.1 De oproeptoon instellenDe Twintalker 4710 is voorzien van 10 oproeptonen

14.9.2 Een oproeptoon zendenDruk kort op de -toets . De oproeptoon wordt gedurende 3 seconden op het ingesteldekanaal uitgezonden.

14.10 VOX-selectieDe PMR is in staat spraakgestuurd (VOX) te zenden. In de VOX-modus zendt de radio eensignaal uit als hij wordt geactiveerd door uw stem of een ander geluid in de omgeving. DeVOX-modus wordt niet aangeraden als u van plan bent de radio in een lawaaierige ofwinderige omgeving te gebruiken.

14.11 Squelch-niveau selecterenDe afstelbare squelch stelt u in staat om de gevoeligheid van de radio te optimaliseren. Ukunt de gevoeligheid verhogen en zwakkere signalen ontvangen.

Er zijn 4 afnemende gevoeligheidsniveaus. 1 is het meest gevoelige, voor het waarnemenvan de zwakste signalen. 4 is het minst gevoelige, voor het waarnemen van alleen desterkere signalen en voor het uitschakelen van interferentie van zwakkere signalen.

Druk viermaal op de -toets , wordt weergegeven. Druk op de -toets of op de -toets om van

oproeptoon te veranderen. Selecteer OF om alle oproeptonen uitte schakelen.


Druk vijfmaal op de -toets , de huidige VOX-instellingenknipperen in de display en het VOX-pictogram wordtweergegeven.

Druk op de -toets om de VOX-functie IN te schakelen.Druk nogmaals op de -toets om het VOX-

Bij hogere gevoeligheidsinstellingen is het normaal dat u af en toe statische ruis op deachtergrond hoort.

14.12 KanaalscanDe functie KANAALSCAN zoekt in een eindeloze lus naar actieve signalen, waaronderCTCSS-codes, op kanaal 1 tot 8.

14.13 Dual Channel-scanIn standby is de PMR ingesteld op n ingesteld kanaal met een CTCSS-code. De PMRontvangt enkel signalen die op hetzelfde kanaal en met dezelfde CTCSS-code wordenverzonden.De functie Dual Channel Monitor stelt u in staat een tweede kanaal met CTCSS-code temonitoren.

Druk zesmaal op de -toets , het huidige squelch-niveauknippert op de display.

Druk op de -toets of op de -toets om van squelch-niveau te veranderen.


Druk kort op de -toets om de functie kanaalscan teactiveren. Het pictogram kanaalscan wordt weergegeven.

Als er een actief signaal (een van de 8 kanalen) wordtwaargenomen, drukt u op de PTT -toets om het kanaal vast

te leggen en om te communiceren over het actieve kanaal. Als uniet op de PTT-toets drukt, zal de functie kanaalscan na 5seconden opnieuw starten.

Druk op de -toets of op de -toets om het huidigekanaal te omzeilen en verder te gaan met het zoeken naar eenander actief kanaal.

Druk kort op de -toets om de functie kanaalscan uit teschakelen.

Bij het activeren van de functie kanaalscan met uw CTCSS-codeingesteld op "0", zal de PMR zoeken naar alle signalen (met of

zonder CTCSS-code). Bij het activeren van de functie kanaalscan met een CTCSS-code (1

38), zal de PMR alleen zoeken naar signalen met een CTCSS-code.Een signaal zonder CTCSS-code zal worden genegeerd.

Druk zevenmaal op de -toets om de functie uit te schakelen. Druk vervolgens op de-toets of op de -toets totdat "OF " wordt weergegeven.

Als de functie Dual Channel Monitor is ingeschakeld, schakelt de PMR opeenvolgend tussenhet standby-kanaal + CTCSS en het Dual Channel + CTCSS. Als er activiteit gaande is op Dual Channel + CTCSS, zal het actieve kanaal wordenweergegeven gedurende 5 seconden na afloop van de activiteit. Binnen deze periode kuntu antwoorden op de zending.

14.14 Automatisch uitschakelen (APO)Om energie te besparen, kunt u de functie Automatisch uitschakelen activeren. Wanneer uvergeten bent om het toestel uit te schakelen, zal het na de ingestelde tijd automatischuitschakelen.

14.15 Toetstoon in/uitschakelenU hoort een korte pieptoon bij het indrukken van een toets.

Druk zevenmaal op de -toets , het pictogram dualchannel-scan verschijnt in de display.

Druk op de -toets of op de -toets om van kanaal teveranderen.

14.17 Roger-pieptoon in/uitschakelenNadat u de PTT -toets hebt losgelaten, zendt het toestel een Roger-pieptoon uit om tebevestigen dat u klaar bent met praten.

Houd de -toets gedurende 3 seconden ingedrukt om detoetsvergrendelingsmodus in te schakelen. Het pictogramTOETSVERGRENDELING verschijnt op het LCD-scherm.

20 Garantie

20.1 GarantieperiodeOp de Ucom-toestellen wordt een garantie van 36 maanden verleend. De garantieperiodebegint op de dag waarop het nieuwe toestel wordt gekocht. Kleine onderdelen of defectendie een verwaarloosbaar effect hebben op de werking of waarde van het toestel worden nietgedekt door de garantie.De garantie moet worden bewezen door overlegging van het aankoopbewijs waarop dedatum van aankoop en het toesteltype staan aangegeven.

20.2 Afwikkeling van garantieclaimsEen defect toestel moet, samen met een geldig aankoopbewijs en de ingevulde retourfiche,worden teruggestuurd naar een officieel erkende hersteldienst. Als het toestel tijdens degarantieperiode een defect vertoont, zal de hersteldienst eventuele defecten te wijten aanmateriaal- of productiefouten gratis herstellen.

De hersteldienst zal naar eigen goeddunken haar garantieverplichtingen vervullen doordefecte toestellen of onderdelen van defecte toestellen te herstellen of te vervangen. In hetgeval van vervanging kunnen de kleur en het model verschillend zijn van het oorspronkelijkgekochte toestel.De oorspronkelijke aankoopdatum is bepalend voor het begin van de garantieperiode. Degarantieperiode wordt niet verlengd als het toestel wordt vervangen of hersteld door deofficieel erkende hersteldienst.

1 IntroductionMerci davoir achet le Ucom Twintalker 4710. Il sagit dun appareil de communication radio faible porte et faible consommation dune porte de maximum 5 Km. Il ne ncessite pasdautres frais dexploitation que les frais minimaux de rechargement des piles.Le TwinTalker fonctionne sur 8 canaux. Il peut tre utilis dans tous les pays o ce serviceest autoris comme indiqu sur lemballage du produit et dans le prsent manuel.Le Twintalker est protg contre les gouttes deau tombant la verticale lorsque pench 15 selon la norme IPX2.

2 UtilisationIl peut tre utilise diverses fins professionnelles. Par exemple: support de fonctionnementde grue. Il peut galement tre utilise des fins rcratives. Par exemple : Pour rester encontact en cas de dplacement avec 2 voitures ou plus, en vlos ou en ski. Il peut tre utilispour rester en contact avec vos enfants lorsquils jouent dehors, etc...

3 Marque CELe symbole CE sur lappareil, le guide dutilisation et la bote indique que lappareil estconforme aux exigences essentielles de la directive R&TTE 1995/5/EC.

4 Instructions de scurit

4.1 GnralitsVeuillez lire attentivement les informations suivantes concernant la scurit et lutilisationcorrecte. Familiarisez-vous avec toutes les fonctions de lappareil. Conservez ce manueldans un endroit sr pour une utilisation ultrieure.

4.2 Brlures Lorsquune antenne endommage entre en contact avec la peau, il peut en rsulter une

lgre brlure en cas de transmission. Les piles peuvent causer des dommages et/ou des blessures telles que des brlures si

un matriau conducteur, tel que des bijoux, des clefs ou des chanes boulettes, touchedes terminaux exposs. Le matriau peut complter un circuit lectrique (court-circuit)

et devenir relativement chaud. Veuillez faire attention lors du maniement de pilescharges, particulirement lorsque vous les placez dans une poche, un sac mains outout autre chose avec des objets en mtal..

4.3 Blessures Utilisation en voiture : Ne placez pas votre appareil dans une zone au-dessus dun

airbag ou dans le primtre de dploiement dun airbag. Les airbags se gonflent avecbeaucoup de force. Si un communicateur est plac dans le primtre de dploiementdun airbag et que ce dernier se gonfle, il est possible que le communicateur soit projet

avec une grande force et quil occasionne de srieuses blessures aux occupants duvhicule. Conservez la radio au moins 15 centimtres dun pacemaker. teignez votre radio ds quil y a des interfrences avec des quipements mdicaux.

4.4 Danger dexplosion Ne remplacez pas les piles dans une atmosphre potentiellement explosive. Des

tincelles au niveau des contacts peuvent se produire lors de linstallation ou delenlvement des piles et provoquer une explosion.

Eteignez votre communicateur dans un atmosphre potentiellement explosive. Destincelles dans de telles zones peuvent provoquer une explosion ou un incendieentranant des blessures, voire mme la mort.

Ne jetez jamais de piles dans le feu, elles peuvent exploser.

4.5 Danger dempoisonnement Conservez les piles hors de porte des petits enfants

4.6 Lgislation Dans certains pays, il est interdit dutiliser votre PMR en conduisant un vhicule. Dans

ce cas, quittez la route avant dutiliser lappareil. Mettez votre appareil en position OFF lorsque vous vous trouvez bord dun avion

quand vous tes invit le faire. Toute utilisation de lappareil doit se faireconformment aux rgulations ariennes ou aux instructions de lquipage de bord. teignez lappareil dans les lieux o des pancartes vous invitent le faire. Les hpitaux

ou les centres de soins de sant utilisent des quipements sensibles lnergie RFexterne.

Remplacer ou modifier lantenne peut affecter les spcifications radio du PMR et violerles rglements CE. Des antennes non autorises peuvent galement endommager laradio.

4.7 Notes

Ne touchez pas lantenne en cours de transmission, cela peut affecter la porte. Retirez les piles lorsque lappareil nest pas utilis pendant une longue priode.

5 Nettoyage et maintenance Pour nettoyer lappareil, frottez avec un tissu doux humidifi avec de leau. Nutilisez pas

un nettoyant ou des solvants sur lunit ; Ils peuvent endommager le botier et pntrer lintrieur, entranant des dommages permanents.

Les contacts de la batterie peuvent tre frotts avec un tissu sec sans peluches. Si lappareil est mouill, teignez-le et enlevez les piles immdiatement. Schez le

compartiment piles avec un tissu doux pour minimiser les dommages potentiels dus leau. Laissez ouvert le couvercle du compartiment piles pendant la nuit ou jusqu cequil soit compltement sec. Nutilisez pas lappareil jusqu ce quil soit compltement sec.

Les zones prsentant des atmosphres potentiellement explosives sontsouvent, mais pas toujours, indiques clairement. Elles incluent les zonesde carburant telles que le pont infrieur des bateaux, les implantations detransfert ou de stockage de carburant ou de produits chimiques ; les zoneso lair contient des produits chimiques ou des particules telles que desgrains, de la poussire ou des poudres mtalliques ; et toute autre zone olon vous conseillerait normalement dteindre le moteur de votre vhicule.

6 Recyclage de lappareil (environnement) Au terme du cycle de vie de ce produit, vous ne devez pas jeter le produit dansles dchets mnagers ordinaires mais le dposer dans un point de collecte pourle recyclage des quipements lectriques et lectroniques. 7 Utiliser un appareil PMRPour communiquer, les appareils PMR doivent tre rgls sur le mme canal et code CTCSS

et ils doivent se trouver porte lun de lautre (jusque maximum 5 km en terrain dgag).tant donn que ces appareils utilisent des bandes de frquences libres (canaux), tous lesappareils en fonctionnement partagent ces canaux (total 8 canaux). Par consquent, la vieprive nest pas garantie. Toute personne possdant un PMR rgl sur votre canal peutentendre la conversation.Si vous souhaitez communiquer (transmettre un signal vocal), vous devez appuyer sur lebouton PTT (Push to talk) . Une fois ce bouton enfonc, lappareil est en mode transmitet vous pouvez parler dans le microphone. Tous les autres appareils PMR porte derception, sur le mme canal et en mode stand-by (pas en transmission) entendront votremessage. Vous devez attendre jusqu ce que lautre partie arrte de transmettre avant derpondre son message. la fin de chaque transmission, lappareil met un bip quand lebip Roger est activ (voir chapitre 14.17). Pour rpondre, il vous suffit dappuyer sur lebouton PTT et de parler dans le microphone.

Si deux utilisateurs ou plus appuient sur le bouton PTT - enmme temps, le rcepteur recevra uniquement le signal le pluspuissant et lautre signal sera perdu. Par consquent, vousdevez uniquement transmettre (appuyer sur le bouton PTT )lorsque le canal est libre.

9 Bien dbuter

9.1 Installer/enlever le Clip deceinture

1. Pour installer le clip de ceinture, alignezla broche avec le trou au dos delappareil. Poussez doucement jusquce quil clique en position.

2. Pour enlever le pli de ceinture delappareil, poussez sur le clip deceinture (A), tout en retirant le clip delappareil (B)

9.2 Installation des piles1. Retirez le clip de ceinture (Voir chapitre

9.1.2).2. Tirez sur longlet du compartiment des

piles (C) et retirez doucement le

couvercle du compartiment des piles.3. Installez la batterie rechargeable enrespectant la polarit. Les contactsmtalliques (D) doivent tre orientvers lextrieur de la radio pour seconnecter sur le couvercle ducompartiment des piles. Ou installez 3batteries AAA alkaline ourechargeable en suivant les polaritesindiques. Remettez en place lecouvercle du compartiment des piles etle clip de ceinture (Voir chapitre 9.1.1).

10 Charger les batteries

11 Niveaux de charge des batteriesLe niveau de charge des batteries est indiqu par le nombre de carrs prsents dans licneBATTERY sur lcran LCD.

Lorsque le niveau de charge de batterie est faible, vous entendrez un bip.

Lorsque le bloc de batteries NiMh est install, lechargeur de bureau fournit une facilit de charge.

1. Placez le chargeur de bureau sur une surfaceplane.2. Branchez ladaptateur fourni dans la prise

lectrique. Faites attention au voltagementionn et comparez-le avec les indicationsde lalimentation. Connectez la fiche de bassetension lextrmit du cble avec leconnecteur au dos du chargeur de bureau.

3. Placez le PMR dans le chargeur commeindiqu.

4. La DEL de charge sallumera si cet appareilest correctement insr et en charge.

Il faut environ 12 14 heures pour charger complte-ment les batteries. Il ny a aucune indication lcranlorsque les batteries sont en charge.

Lappareil peut galement fonctionner avec trois piles AAA NiMhrechargeables ou 3 piles alcalines AAA.Les piles AAA ne peuvent tre charges dans le chargeur.

Le code CTCSS 2 chiffres correspond une frquence spcifique que la radio met. Deuxutilisateurs, avec les mmes canal et code CTCSS rgls, peuvent sentendre lun lautre. Ilsne seront pas en mesure dentendre toute autre personne sur le canal moins que les autresradios naient exactement le mme code CTCSS. Le Twintalker 4710 dispose de 38 codesCTCSS.

14.7 MonitorVous pouvez utiliser la fonction de surveillance pour contrler la prsence de signaux plusfaibles sur le canal actuel.

Appuyez et maintenez enfonc le bouton pour activer la surveillance descanaux.

Relchez le bouton pour arrter la surveillance.

Appuyez sur le bouton une fois, le numro du canalactuel clignote lcran.

Appuyez sur le bouton ou pour changer le canal. Appuyez sur le boutonPTT pour confirmer et revenir en

14.8 Fonction Baby MonitorUn des appareils peut fonctionner comme appareil de surveillance des bbs. La radiotransmet un signal lorsquil est activ par les pleurs du bb ou un autre son dans la pice(VOX).Le PMR ne sera plus capable de recevoir les signaux pour viter que le bb ne soit perturbdans son sommeil.Lautre appareil doit tre rgl sur le mme canal et le mme code CTCSS pour recevoir lesignal du Baby Monitor.

14.11 Slection du niveau de SquelchLe Squelch rglable vous permet doptimaliser la sensibilit de la radio. Il vous permetgalement daugmenter la sensibilit et de recevoir des signaux plus faibles.Il y a quatre niveaux de sensibilit. 1 est le niveau le plus sensible pour dtecter les signauxles plus faibles. 4 est le niveau le moins sensible pour entendre uniquement les signauxpuissants et viterles interfrences des signaux faibles. Avec une sensibilit leve, il est normal dentendre occasionnellement un bruit statique larrire-plan.

14.13 Double balayage des canauxEn veille, le PMR est rgl sur un canal avec code CTCSS. Lappareil reoit uniquement lessignaux transmis sur ce canal avec le code CTCSS.La fonction du double balayage vous permet de surveiller un deuxime canal avec le code

CTCSS.

Appuyez sur le bouton six fois, le niveau actuel deSquelch clignote lcran.

Appuyez sur le bouton ou pour passer un autreniveau Squelch


Appuyez sur le bouton brivement pour activer ChannelScan. Licne du balayage des canaux saffiche.

Lorsque lappareil dtecte un signal actif (un des huit canaux),appuyez sur le bouton PTT pour fixer le canal etcommencez communiquer sur le canal actif. Channel Scanrecommencera aprs 5 secondes.

Appuyez sur le bouton ou pour sauter le canalactuel et continuer chercher un autre canal actif Appuyez sur le bouton brivement pour dsactiver

Si vous activez la fonction Channel Scan quand le code CTCSS estmis sur 0, le PMR cherchera tous les signaux (avec ou sans codeCTCSS).

Si vous activez la fonction Channel Scan quand vous avez mis lecode CTCSS (1-38), le PMR cherchera seulement des signaux aveccode CTCSS. Signaux sans code CTCSS seront ngligs.

Appuyez sur le bouton sept fois pour dsactiver la fonction. Appuyez ensuite sur lebouton ou jusqu ce que OF saffiche.

Lorsque la fonction du double balayage des canaux est active, le PMR bascule entre lecanal en veille + CTCSS et le double canal + CTCSS.Lorsquil y a de lactivit sur le double canal + CTCSS, le canal actif saffiche pendant cinqsecondes une fois lactivit est termine. Durant cette priode, vous avez la possibilit derpondre la transmission.

14.14 Arrt automatique (Automatic Power Off) (APO)Pour conomiser lnergie, vous pouvez activer la fonction darrt automatique. Si vousoubliez dteindre lappareil, il steint automatiquement aprs le temps rgl.

14.15 Bip de touche On/Off

Lorsque vous appuyez sur un bouton, lappareil met un bip bref.

Appuyez sur le bouton sept fois, licne du doublebalayage des canaux apparat lcran.

Appuyez sur le bouton ou pour changer de canal. Appuyez sur le bouton pour confirmer la slection du

canal et aller CTCSS SUB-CHANNEL SELECTION Appuyez sur le bouton ou pour changer le code

CTCSS. Appuyez sur le boutonPTT pour confirmer et revenir en

mode de veille.

Appuyez sur le bouton 8 fois, le temps actuel darrtautomatique clignote lcran.

Appuyez sur le bouton ou pour changer le dlai (1- 12 heures). Slectionnez OF pour dsactiver la fonction APO.


Appuyez sur le bouton neuf fois, le rglage actuel de bipde touche clignote lcran.

Appuyez sur le bouton ou pour activer (ON) oudsactiver (OF) les bips de touche.

14.17 Bip Roger On/Off Aprs avoir relch le bouton PTT , lappareil met un bip roger pour confirmer que vousavez arrt de parler.

14.19 Rtroclairage du clavierPour activer le rtroclairage de lcran LCD, appuyez sur nimporte quel bouton except lebouton PTT ou . .Le rtroclairage LCD sallumera pendant 5 secondes.

Appuyez sur le bouton dix fois. Le compteur saffiche. Appuyez sur le bouton pour lancer le chronomtre.

Appuyez sur le bouton pour arrter le dcompte et voir letemps intermdiaire. Le chronomtre continu en arrire-plan. Appuyez sur le bouton pour procder au dcompte.

Lorsque le dcompte est arrt, appuyez sur le boutonpour remettre zro.

Appuyez sur le bouton onze fois, le rglage actuel RogerBeep clignote lcran.

Appuyez sur le bouton ou pour activer (ON) ou

dsactiver (OF) le bip Roger. Appuyez sur le boutonPTT pour confirmer et revenir enmode de veille.

Appuyez et maintenez enfonc le bouton pendant 3secondes pour activer le mode Verrouillage du clavier. Licne deVerrouillage du clavier saffiche lcran.

Appuyez et maintenez de nouveau enfonc le boutonpour dsactiver Verrouillage du clavier
