The Netherlands - With Arjan Klerks
as Manager Technical Services and
Hans van Lingen as Manager Rental
Operations the management team
of Riwal Netherlands is now at full
strength.
Arjan Klerks started his job as Mana-
ger Techical Services in August 2010.
He is responsible for the quality and
availability of the rental fleet and trans-
port, preparing equipment for delivery
and for third party maintenance. The
Technical Services department has
internal as well as external clients.
Together with his colleagues Arjan en-
sures that processes run optimally, in
order to keep all customers satisfied.
Arjan: “By using our strength, we can
further improve our quality and serve
customers better. The emphasis lies
on sharing and embedding know-
ledge, both within the Technical Ser-
vices department and between the
departments and branches of Team
Riwal. We continue to invest in em-
ployees, among others through edu-
cation and training.”

eLeCtrONIC INvOICING
The Netherlands - Riwal will start
sending invoices by email instead of by
post in The Netherlands. Customers
will receive their invoice as a PDF-file.
This way invoices can directly be in-
corporated in their own bookkeeping.
E-invoices have several advantages:
from cost reduction and better ser-
vice to more efficient processes. The
advantages are not only noticeable for
Riwal, but also for the customer. Invoi-
ces can directly be filed electronically.
A paper archive is no longer necessa-
ry; all documents are easily accessible
and directly processing invoices saves
time for the accounting department.
Sending electronic invoices is also
faster than sending paper invoices,
making processing them faster. Mean-
while, together we also contribute to
protecting the environment. Less pa-
per, less transport!
the dutch management team
currently consist of (f.l.t.r.):
Coert Nodelijk - general manager
Hans Schmelling - financial director
Allard Maij - manager commerce
Rik Maaskant - commercial director
Arjan Klerks - manager technical

Douwe van den Berg - manager HR
Hans van Lingen - manager rental
operations
Since November 2010, Hans van
Lingen is responsible for the rental
operations. He supervises the rental
activities, the planning desks as well as
our truck drivers. Hans is no stranger
in the access industry. The past three
years he was employed with Boels
Rental as product manager AWP.
Previously he built the Dutch rental di-
vision for Gerken from scratch to 250
AWP’s. Earlier he worked a year in
the forklifttruck business and another
eight years with Boels.
As Manager Rental Operations Hans
keeps an open view on the daily busi-
ness. And he tries to motivate em-
ployees to take an extra step. Hans:
“It is all about satisfying customers.
This is done by making sure we place
the right people at the position they
feel comfortable in. This radiates out-
wards. In the full width of the opera-
tion we must bend a reactive process
into a proactive process and give our
customers the feeling that Riwal is the
only right choice for vertical access
solutions.”

Nederland - Binnenkort verstuurt
Riwal facturen niet meer per post,
maar via een e-mailbericht. Klanten
ontvangen de factuur in PDF-formaat.
Op deze manier kunnen de facturen
direct in de eigen administratie worden
opgenomen.
E-factureren biedt allerlei voordelen,
van kostenbesparing en betere dienst-
verlening tot efficiëntere processen
en een verminderde belasting van het
milieu. De voordelen zijn niet alleen
merkbaar voor Riwal, maar ook voor
de klant. Zo kunnen de facturen direct
in elektronisch formaat worden opge-
slagen. Een papieren archief is niet
meer nodig en alle documenten zijn
snel toegankelijk. Doordat ontvangen
e-facturen rechtstreeks te verwerken
zijn levert dit een tijdsbesparing op
voor de crediteurenadministratie. Het
verzenden verloopt sneller dan bij
papieren facturen, waardoor proces-
sen sneller verlopen. Voordat Riwal
definitief overschakelt op e-facturatie
worden klanten persoonlijk per brief
geïnformeerd. De mogelijkheid tot het
ontvangen van facturen per post blijft
bestaan, maar de standaard binnen
Riwal wordt e-facturatie.
Nederland - Met de komst van Arjan
Klerks als Manager Technische Dienst

Operations Verhuur is het Nederlandse
managementteam op volle sterkte.
Augustus 2010 is Arjan Klerks gestart
als Manager Technische Dienst. Hij is

verantwoordelijk voor de kwaliteit en
beschikbaarheid van de verhuurvloot
en het transportmaterieel, het aflever-
gereed maken van machines en on-
derhoud aan klantmachines. De TD
heeft zowel interne klanten als externe
klanten. Arjan draagt er samen met
zijn collega’s zorg voor dat proces-
sen optimaal verlopen, zodat klanten
tevreden zijn.
Arjan: “Door meer gebruik te maken
van onze sterke punten kunnen we
onze producten en diensten verder
verbeteren en klanten beter bedie-
nen. De nadruk ligt op kennis delen
en verankeren, zowel binnen de TD als
tussen afdelingen en vestigingen van
Team Riwal. We blijven investeren in
medewerkers, onder andere door op-
leiding en training.”
Hans van Lingen is sinds november
2010 verantwoordelijk voor de ver-
huuroperatie in de breedste zin van het
woord, onder zijn verantwoordelijkheid
vallen Verhuur Binnendienst en Ver-
huur Planning. Hans is geen vreemde
in de hoogwerkerbranche. Hij was
eerder werkzaam bij Boels Verhuur,
waar hij de laatste drie jaar product
manager hoogwerkers was. Daar-
voor bouwde hij in zeven jaar collega-
verhuurbedrijf Gerken Nederland op
van 0 tot 250 hoogwerkers. Hij werkte
één jaar in de heftruckbusiness en zat
eerder al eens acht jaar bij Boels.
In de rol van Manager Operations
Verhuur houdt Hans een heldere open
kijk op de dagelijkse business. Hij
probeert medewerkers te motiveren
om een stapje extra te zetten. Hans:
“Het gaat voornamelijk om een te-
vreden klant binnen Riwal.

International - On 1 October 2010
Okke A. Taselaar joined Riwal Holding
Group as a member of the Board of
Directors in the function of Chief Ope-
rating Officer.
Okke is 41 years and lives in
Rotterdam (The Netherlands). He
studied Industrial Engineering in En-
schede. After his study he started as a
trainee at Damen Shipyards, where he
subsequently rose to sales director for
the Asia – Oceania region. His career
at Damen gave him a lot of commer-
cial and international experience. From
there he moved to Wagenborg Special
Transport and Cranes, in the position
of General Manager, with a focus on
people and change management.
Before Riwal Okke was employed at
Wavin, the stock listed European lea-
der in plastic pipe systems and solu-
tions, where he directed the project
organisation, sales and marketing &
communications for the purpose of
improving the strength of the organi-
sation.
As COO for Riwal Holding Group Okke
is responsible for the entire internatio-
nal organisation. An important part is
international fleet management. Fleet
management aims to optimize the re-
venues from the rental fleet of all Riwal

companies. Another important focus
is to ensure better communication and
knowledge exchange among our in-
ternational branches.
Okke is also responsible for the Riwal
wide programme of change: ‘Riwal
Tuning Programme’. “After a decade
of strong international growth Riwal
has become a large organisation and
a number of processes need more
structure. The Riwal Tuning Program-
me therefore focuses on the core
processes of the organisation.” ac-
cording to Okke. “It aims to strengthen
Riwal as an organisation. We believe
this can be achieved by learning from
each other. Furthermore, standardi-
sing and making processes manage-
able will enable us to do our job better
and more efficiently. This will enable us
to become the leading access equip-
ment specialist in Europe.”
He chose Riwal because: “Riwal is a
good company with all opportunities
to grow. It is a challenging assignment,
in which al my previous work expe-
rience come together. I also feel con-
nected with my new colleagues; there
is an open and friendly atmosphere.”
Okke: “I try to speak with many people
and listen carefully to the people who
have made the company what it is to-
day; In The Netherlands as well as in-
ternationally. My door is always open
for a conversation.”
“To get to know the various parts of
Riwal and the function and vision of
others, I suggest to start an interview
relay. Hereby I invite our CEO, Dick
Schalekamp, for the next interview.”

Nederland - Het opleidingsaanbod
van Riwal is uitgebreid met de oplei-
ding Machinist Verreiker met Hijsfunc-
tie (TCVT W04-07). Machinisten die
hijswerkzaamheden op een bouw-
plaats uitvoeren met een bedrijfslast-
moment van 10 tonmeter of meer,
moeten (in Nederland) in het bezit zijn
van een TCVT-persoonscertificaat
voor de betreffende machine. Dit geldt
dus ook voor hijsen met de verreiker
waarop een hijsjib (met of zonder lier)
is bevestigd.
Internationaal - Op 1 oktober 2010 is
Okke A. Taselaar in dienst getreden als
Operating Officer.
Okke is 41 jaar en woont in Rotter-
dam. Hij heeft technische bedrijfs-
kunde gestudeerd in Enschede.
ment. Voor Riwal was Okke werkzaam
bij Wavin, de beursgenoteerde Euro-
IN Gesprek Met Okke taseLaar, COO
pese marktleider in kunststof leiding-
systemen, hier gaf Okke leiding aan
de projectorganisatie, de verkoop en
marketing & communicatie met als
doel de slagkracht van de organisatie
te verbeteren.
Als COO voor Riwal Holding Group is
Okke verantwoordelijk voor de gehele
internationale organisatie. Een belang-
rijk onderdeel is het internationale fleet
management. Fleet management is
heel. Een ander belangrijk speerpunt
is het zorgen voor betere communica-
tie en meer kennisuitwisseling tussen
onze landenorganisaties.
Daarnaast is Okke verantwoordelijk
voor het Riwal brede veranderpro-
gramma: ‘Riwal Tuning Programme’.
“Na een decennium van sterke inter-
nationale groei is Riwal zo groot dat de
organisatie en een aantal processen
meer structuur nodig hebben.
Het Riwal Tuning Programme richt zich
dan ook op de kernprocessen van de
organisatie.”, aldus Okke. “Het stelt
zich ten doel Riwal als organisatie te
versterken. We denken dit onder meer
te bereiken door te leren van elkaar.
Verder zullen het standaardiseren en
het beheersbaar maken van proces-
sen ons in staat stellen ons werk beter
en efficiënter uit te voeren. Dit alles is
een voorbereiding om door te kunnen
groeien tot de beste hoogwerkerspe-
cialist in Europa.”
tige sfeer.” Okke: “Ik probeer met veel
mensen te spreken en goed te luis-
teren naar de mensen, die het bedrijf
hebben gemaakt tot wat het nu is;
volgende vraaggesprek!”

After months of preparation Clem

The Netherlands – Nooteboom Trai-
lers is the European market leader in
the design and production of vehicles
for abnormal road transport with pay-
loads from 20 up to 1,000 tonnes. In
order to further build on this leading
position, Nooteboom continuously
strives to improve products and ser-
vice. Together with Caro Aerts, head
of the logistics workshop, a new trai-
ler was developed specifically for the
access equipment industry. Riwal
has been using Nooteboom trailers
for transport of access equip-ment
for years. Caro was asked about his
findings and suggestions for impro-
vement with the semi trailers. On his
turn Caro asked drivers about their
pros and cons of the trailers currently
in use. The result is a new type of trai-
ler; the OSD 4803 (HS). The trailer has
been improved on many points. It is
among others equipped with a roun-
ded front panel, making it easier for
the combination to turn corners. A
grid floor was installed over the en-
tire width of the loading, it is not only
stronger, it also provides more grip.

working with DynaRent 3 since May
2008. In November of 2010 they also
made the switch to DynaRent 4. Si-
milar to the transfer of Riwal Nether-
lands to DynaRent 4 the data conver-

length of the trailer has gone up 50
cm, allowing more and larger equip-
ment to be transported. The ramps
of the trailer are widened from 0.88m.
to 1.25 m. and can be independently
operated. Everything under the trailer
is assembled as high as possible, so
much ground clearance is created.
To protect wiring and air supply from
being damaged, these are placed in
a cable duct. The chassis is painted
first and the parts are assembled
afterwards. This prevents rust and
makes it easier to detect faults. Previ-
ously, everything was painted orange
so that the colours of the various pi-
pes were unrecognisable. This way
the function of a specific pipe was
hard to detect, which made solving
a malfunction difficult. All frequently
requested extras are now standard
on this OSD. An additional advantage
is that the trailer isn’t more expensive
than the previously delivered ones.
The first trailer is now being used by
Riwal and the experience is very po-
sitive.

Nederland - De IT afdeling is de af-
gelopen maanden drukdoende ge-
weest Clem (Riwal Spanje) en Riwal
Denemarken over te zetten naar
DynaRent 4.
Na maanden van voorbereiding kon
Clem per 1 november DynaRent 4 in
gebruik nemen en daarmee het ver-
ouderde ProLogic vervangen. Deze
implementatie is samen met Iris, een
Spaanse Microsoft partner, uitge-
voerd. Aangezien Clem wat meer de-
centraal is georganiseerd, moesten de
nodige problemen worden overwon-
nen. Toch kunnen we stellen dat de
implementatie en de samenwerking
met Clem succesvol is verlopen. Riwal
Denemarken werkte al sinds mei 2008
met DynaRent 3 en is nu per november
2011 overgestapt op DynaRent 4. Net
als bij de overgang van Riwal Neder-
land naar DynaRent 4, bleek ook nu de
dataconversie het moeilijkste onder-
deel. Riwal Denemarken zal tevens nu
ook worden gehost vanuit Dordrecht;
men werkt dus vanaf Denemarken
en Noorwegen op een server die in
Dordrecht staat. Hiermee draaien nu
de volgende landen op DynaRent 4:
Nederland, Denemarken, Noorwegen,

Nederland - Nooteboom Trailers heeft
in Europa een leidende marktpositie
in het ontwerpen en fabriceren van
voertuigen voor het uitzonderlijk weg-
vervoer van 20 tot 1.000 ton nuttig
draagvermogen. Om deze toonaan-
gevende positie verder uit te bouwen
is Nooteboom voortdurend bezig
met het verbeteren van haar produc-
ten en service. In samenspraak met
Caro Aerts, chef werkplaats van Riwal
Logistiek, is een nieuwe oplegger semi
dieplader (OSD) ontwikkeld specifiek
voor de hoogwerkerindustrie.
Riwal maakt al jaren gebruik van de
Nooteboom trailers voor het vervoer
van hoogwerkers. Aan Caro werd ge-
vraagd naar zijn bevindingen met de
eerder aan Riwal geleverde OSD’s
en naar wat er verbeterd zou kunnen
worden. Op zijn beurt inventariseerde
Caro onder chauffeurs de voor- en
nadelen van de huidige trailers in het
gebruik. Zo ontstond een lijst met
verbeterpunten met als resultaat een
geheel nieuw type trailer speciaal voor
de hoogwerkerindustrie; de OSD 48-
03 (HS).
De trailer is op veel punten verbe-
terd. Hij is ondermeer voorzien van
een afgeschuind kopschot, waardoor
de combinatie makkelijker draait in
bochten. Over de gehele breedte van
speCIaLe dIepLader vOOr HOOGwerkers
de laadvloer is een roostervloer ge-
monteerd, deze is niet alleen sterker,
het biedt ook meer grip. De laadvloer
is voorzien van zeer sterke 4 tons Bin-
togen welke TUV en CE zijn gekeurd.
De totale trailerlengte is 50 cm langer,
waardoor meer en grotere machines
vervoerd kunnen worden. De opritten
van de trailer zijn verbreed van 0.88m.
naar 1,25m. en zijn onafhankelijk van
elkaar te bedienen. Alles onder de trai-
ler is zo hoog mogelijk gemonteerd,
zodat er veel bodemvrijheid is gecre-
eerd. Om bedrading en luchtvoorzie-
ning te beschermen tegen beschadi-
gingen zijn deze weggewerkt in een
kabelgoot. Het chassis wordt voor-
bewerkt en gespoten en hierna wor-
den de onderdelen afgemonteerd. Dit
voorkomt roestvorming en maakt het
eenvoudiger storingen op te sporen.
Voorheen werd alles oranje gespoten
waardoor de kleuren van de diverse
leidingen onherkenbaar werden. De
functie van een leiding werd zo lastig
te achterhalen, waardoor het oplossen
van een storing werd bemoeilijkt. Alle
gevraagde extra’s zitten bovendien
standaard af-fabriek op deze OSD.
Bijkomend voordeel is dat de trailer
uiteindelijk geen euro duurder is ge-
worden dan eerder geleverde exem-
plaren. De eerste trailer is inmiddels
door Riwal in gebruik genomen en de
ervaringen zijn zeer positief.

exhibition centre Ahoy in Rotterdam
(The Netherlands) on 12-14 April.

show the latest developments in the
training program. Riwal can be found
on the grounds in front of the exhibi-
tion centre as well as in hall three.

Nederland - De vraag naar elektrici-
teit groeit wereldwijd enorm. Wind-
opwekking. Er komen niet alleen
steeds meer windturbines, ze worden
ook steeds hoger. Was in 1987 de
gemiddelde ashoogte nog 28 meter,
tegenwoordig is dat al 80 meter. Voor

is materieel nodig waarmee efficiënt

India – As a consequence of the
steady increase of industrial develop-
ment in India and in line with Manlift’s
continued expansion strategy, a new
branch has been established in New
Delhi, India. The branch is being cre-
ated with the initial purpose of renting
and selling powered access platforms.
In addition to the services currently
offered by Manlift in the Middle East,
Manlift India will supply rental access
platforms with qualified operators.
John Ashcroft, Group Managing
Director comments: “We are excited
about this new venture and feel that
our services and products will be high-
ly attractive in this developing market.”
India is an attractive market for the
Manlift Group. On top of infrastructure
and commercial developments, mega
projects are also becoming more com-
monplace in the country, for example
the Indira Gandhi International Airport
in New Delhi, the Reliance Industries’
KG-D6 gas development project and
the Mundra ultra mega-power project
for Tata Power to name a few.
Atul Sharma Finance and Operations
manager, Manlift India remarks: “We
have been witnessing a recent shift
in the construction processes being
implemented by Indian contracting
firms and developers towards safer
and more economic projects. There
has been a surge of reforms in terms
of time, resources and overheads and
how best to achieve targets in the mar-
ket. Our man lifts considerably reduce
the need for scaffolding structures
thereby reducing both cost and time.”
India – Manlift heeft een vestiging ge-
opend in New Dehli, India.
ficeerde bedieningsmensen.
John Ashcroft, directeur Manlift groep
reageert: “We zijn blij met deze nieuwe
vestiging en denken dat onze diensten
en producten zeer aantrekkelijk zijn
voor deze zich ontwikkelende markt.”
India is een aantrekkelijke markt voor
de Manlift Groep. Bovenop infrastruc-
turele en commerciële ontwikkelingen
worden megaprojecten meer en meer
gemeengoed in dit land. Neem bij-
voorbeeld het internationale vliegveld
Indira Gandhi in New Delhi, het Relian-

ce Industries’ KG-D6 gaswinningspro-
ject en het Mundra Ultra Mega Power
project, een overheidsprogramma om
alle inwoners van stroom te voorzien
uitbesteed aan Tata Power.
“We zien een verschuiving bij bouw-
bedrijven en ontwikkelaars naar veili-
ger en efficiënter werken op projecten.
Er is een sterke stijging waarneembaar
in hervormingen in termen van tijd,
middelen en overheadkosten en de
wijze waarop doelen worden bereikt.
Door het gebruik van onze hoogwer-

het gebruik van steigers wat leidt tot
besparingen in kosten en tijd.” aldus
