Dear brothers and sisters. Today the Church celebrates the Solem-nity of our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, ending the Li-turgical Year. We do so with the firm awareness that Christ is the Lord of everything and everyone. The readings, particularly the

Gospel, show us the final judgment of the nations. Jesus is helped by a pedagogical medium (a parable) that, without pretending

to be a literal narration, using images and illustrative dialogues, teaches us what the end of human history will be like.

In prophetic and apocalyptic tone, Christ appears as "King", sit-ting on "the throne of his glory", surrounded by his angelic court for the great judgment of the nations. With the mission of "sepa-

rating, like the shepherd, the sheep of the goats", not based on the normative fulfillment of religious customs and uses, but on the

basis of the works of mercy, and love, with which he has created us and by which He Himself has redeemed us. The words "what you did with the youngest ones, you did it to me" resounding lapidary

in our ears. Every time we have mercy with the most disadvan-taged, we draw closer to Jesus and then, that day will recognize us

by the love with which we always turn to his presence.

What happens to us, that day by day we lose ourselves in the ways of life, that disorient our encounter with Jesus? His compassion is offered primarily to us. Jesus "following our trail" comes to meet

us, because "he will look for the lost sheep and he will deliver them, he will gather the lost ones", not to judge them harshly or to punish them mercilessly, but to "bandage their wounds, cure their illnesses and judge them, a to a ", like Good Shepherd (1st

reading).

The readings, rather than calling us to fear punishments, must be for all, a renewal of the commitment of solidarity in favor of our

brothers. Leaving us to guide and follow the trail of Jesus, without dispersing our minds and hearts, in the midst of the darkness and

dryness of the routine, allowing the loving encounter with the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, which "will lead us to green mead-

ows and fountains crystalline of life "(Psalm).

Each day let us be led by Jesus, to the pastures of goodness and mercy, so that, reigning in the midst of temporal realities, let us

share in the eternal. A happy and blessed Sunday.

Some points for this week's meditation:

1. Do I let myself be led by Jesus? Where am I directing my walk?

2. Does the goodness and mercy of God dwell in me? Is my home a source of compassion?

3. How will I recognize Jesus in the younger ones?

Queridos hermanos y hermanas. Hoy la Iglesia celebra la Solem-nidad de Cristo Rey del Universo, terminándose también el Año Litúrgico. Lo hacemos con la firme conciencia de que Cristo es el Señor de todo y todos. Las lecturas, de modo particular el Evan-gelio, nos muestran el juicio final de las naciones. Jesús se ayuda

de un medio pedagógico (una parábola) que, sin pretender ser una narración literal, valiéndose de imágenes y diálogos ilustrativos,

nos enseña cómo será el final de la historia humana.

En tono profético y apocalíptico, aparece Cristo como “Rey”, sen-tado en “el trono de su gloria”, rodeado de su corte angelical para

el gran juicio de las naciones. Con la misión de “separar, como el pastor, las ovejas de las cabras”, no en base al cumplimiento normativo de usos y costumbres religiosas, sino en base a las

obras de misericordia, y al amor, con el que nos ha creado y por el que Él mismo nos ha redimido. Las palabras “lo que hiciste con

los más pequeños, a mí me lo hiciste” resuenan lapidariamente en nuestros oídos. Cada vez que tuvimos misericordia con los más

desfavorecidos, nos acercamos más a Jesús y entonces, ese día nos reconocerá por el amor con el que siempre nos dirigimos a su

presencia.

¿Qué pasa con nosotros, que día a día nos perdemos por los cami-nos de la vida, que desorientan nuestro encuentro con Jesús? Su

compasión se ofrece principalmente para nosotros. Jesús “siguien-do nuestro rastro” viene a nuestro encuentro, porque “buscará a las ovejas perdidas y las librará, recogerá a las descarriadas”, no para juzgarlas duramente o castigarlas inmisericordemente, sino

para “vendar sus heridas, curar sus enfermedades y juzgarlas, una a una”, como Buen Pastor (1era lectura).

Las lecturas, antes que llamarnos a temer los castigos, deben ser para todos, un renovar el compromiso solidario en favor de nuestros hermanos. Dejándonos guiar y siguiendo el rastro de

Jesús, sin dispersar nuestras mentes y corazones, en medio de la oscuridad y sequedad de la rutina, permitiendo el encuentro amo-roso con el Señor de Señores, Rey de Reyes, que “nos conducirá a

verdes praderas y a fuentes cristalinas de vida” (Salmo).

Cada día dejémonos conducir por Jesús, a los pastos de la bondad y misericordia, a fin de que, reinando en medio de las realidades

temporales, nos haga partícipes de las eternas. Un feliz y bendecido Domingo.

Algunos puntos para la meditación de ésta semana:

1. ¿Me dejo conducir por Jesús? ¿A dónde estoy dirigiendo mi caminar?

2. ¿La bondad y misericordia de Dios habitan en mí? ¿Mi hogar es fuente de compasión?

3. ¿Cómo reconoceré a Jesús en los más pequeños?

It is the failure to meet a child’s basic needs, including housing, food, clothing, education, safety and access to health care. WHEN WILL THEY FINISH PAINTING THE INSIDE OF THE CHURCH?

Most parishioners have asked about the painting of the inside of the church. We are proceeding slowly so that

when it if finished we will have an environment in which all can more prayerfully experience the peace of presence

of the Lord. In the weeks to come, one of the 16 arches will be artistically painted as a model for the rest. If you the pa-rishioners accept it, then we can proceed with the project, if not we look for another artist. An anonymous doner will pay the $2,500.00 cost for the one arch, so that is it is not acceptable, then it can be painted out and the parish will

lose nothing.

Puesto de Cerveza en la Fiesta ParroquialEl Consejo de Evangelización y el Consejo Parroquial han pedido que la Parroquia cambie el Puesto de Cerveza du-

rante la Fiesta Parroquial en otro puesto de comida. Nunca ha habido ningún "Problema" a causa del puesto de cerve-

za, pero los miembros de los Consejos quieren promover la idea de que una familia puede celebrar sin bebidas alco-

hólicas. Esta recomendación ha sido presentada en varias ocasiones, y es hora de que toda la Asamblea Parroquial

considere la propuesta. El jardín de cerveza hizo un ganan-cia de alrededor de $5,500. Al tener el jardín de la cerveza,

¿qué mensaje se dice en nuestra "Fiesta de la Familia"? Tendremos una consulta de la Asamblea en las misas de

Beer Garden at Parish FiestaThe Evangelization Council and the Parish Council have both asked that the Parish change the Fiesta “Beer Gar-den” into another food booth. While there has never been any “Problems” because of the beer garden, the members of the Councils want to promote the idea that a family can celebrate without alcoholic drinks. This recommendation has been presented on several occasions, and it time for the entire Parish Assembly consider the proposal. The beer garden made about $5, 500 profit. By having the beer garden, what message is being said at our “Family Fiesta”? We will have a consultation of the Assembly at the Masses in November.


WHEN A PERSON REFUSES HELP THERE IS VIO-LENCE, YET THERE IS HELPAgain, this time it is at a Baptist Church in Texas, that a very sick person killed –this time it was 26 persons. A reasonable person knows that gun control is urgently needed, there is no need for a civilian to own weapons of mass destruction. But the underly-ing need is to respond to the need for Mental Health. It is said that 50% of those in prison are mentally ill, and committed their “Crime” when sick. Furthermore, we constantly see our brothers and sisters on the streets and around the church, who are obvi-ously mentally ill, need help, but then refuse the help. St Margaret Center has an outreach program, where they have come to our parish to assist “Homeless” persons, but as sick as they are, they refuse the help, and nothing can be done. A great percentage of violence and homelessness are Mental Health issues. Think about it, talk with others about how healing can take place. Consider calling the Parish Center and volunteer with the Parish HEALTH AND WELLNESS Council. Most people become afraid of seeking “Mental Health: help, they do not understand it is a HEALTH issue. We all can work on "Mental Health” there is hope when we open the doors and let in the light of healthy dialogue.

CUANDO UNA PERSONA NIEGA AYUDA HAY VIOLENCIA, AÚN HAY AYUDA

De nuevo, esta vez es en una Iglesia Bautista en Texas donde una persona muy enferma mató, esta vez fueron 26 personas. Una persona razonable sabe que el control de armas se nece-

sita con urgencia, no es necesario que un civil posea armas de destrucción masiva. Pero la necesidad subyacente es respon-der a la necesidad de Salud Mental. Se dice que el 50% de los

que están en prisión son enfermos mentales y que cometieron su "Delito" cuando estaban enfermos. Además, constante-

mente vemos a nuestros hermanos y hermanas en las calles y alrededor de la iglesia, que obviamente tienen una enferme-dad mental, necesitan ayuda, pero luego rechazan la ayuda. El Centro de Santa Margarita tiene un programa de alcance

rio con el Consejo de SALUD Y BIENESTAR de la Parroquia. La mayoría de las personas teme buscar ayuda de "Salud

mental", no entienden que es un problema de SALUD. Todos podemos trabajar en "Salud mental". Hay esperanza cuando

abrimos las puertas y dejamos entrar el diálogo saludable.
