to our state in the years to co#e. -he industry has a proud history o+ de"elop#ent and ste!ardship in

 %orth &a$ota li$e!ise coal country has so#e o+ the highest paying /os per capita in the state. -he

industry has had a heritage o+ recla#ation +or decadesa record second to none. -hat !as clearly

e"ident last #onth, !hen !e "isited al$ir$ !ith Jay 3ost and #e#ers o+ our tea#.

ur 800 year supply o+ lignite represents an enor#ous resource +or %orth &a$ota that pro"ides so#e o+

the least e)pensi"e po!er in the country, and po!ers #any o+ our neighors to the east. 4esearch done

throughout the industry, and through the Lignite 4esearch Council, EE4C and %&5C is "ital to the +uture

o+ the industry. 5+ elected, !e !ill continue that support. (e recognie the achie"e#ents o+ eating

threats +ro# the past, !hether P7&, #ercury rules, regional hae, or e)ternality litigation !ith innesota.

threat o+ a #oti"ated +ederal go"ern#ent on the coal industry is real and !e !ill use the +ull !eight o+ the

9o"ernors o++ice to support the industry !hich is such a $ey part o+ our econo#ic +aric.

(e ha"e the deepest regard +or the industry, the contriutions it has #ade to our state, and its i#portance

to the +uture o+ %orth &a$ota. (e are opposed to the a#a ad#inistration:s o"erreach on energy,

including the Clean Po!er Plan, any e++orts to i#pose ;cap and tradeou !ill ha"e our +ull support i+ !e are elected.
