Octreotide

Nevus: case reportA 52-year-old man, who had started receiving IM

octreotide [Sandostatin SR] 30mg monthly as adjuvanttreatment for hepatic metastases a year earlier, developedmultiple nevi (more than 200 lesions) over his torso andback. His nevi were flat and pigmented, and some were ofthe lentigo type. Two clinically atypical lesions wereexcised, and histological examinations showed benign, hyperpigmented levi; magnification of a nevus showednumerous peripheral pseudopods over the entirecircumference. The number of his nevi had stabilised, andhe was monitored for more than 10 years while onoctreotide therapy. He had not developed melanoma.Michel J-L.
