Zomepirac

Zomepirac Anaphylaxis Three middle-aged patients who were fundamentally healthy (one patient was taking methyclothiazide for hypertension) developed symptoms and signs of anaphylaxis after taking zomepirac tablets. All had taken the drug previously and 2 had also taken ibuprofen in the past. Soon after the ingestion of zomepirac, the patients complained of itching, l"rghtheadedness, dyspnoea, weakness and/or chest pain . They were found to be mildly shocked 'Initially and had skin rashes (erlhematous or urticarial) . Two had pulmonary rhonchi. All responded well to IV antihistamines, steroids and/or adrenaline [epinephrine]. These reactions were likely to have been caused by zomepirac because of the convincing temporal relationship between the ingestion of the drug and the onset of symptoms.
