DIGITAL INNOVATION
INNOVATIONS IN THE CENTRAL LIBRARY OF ST.
XAVIER’S COLLEGE
E-Attendance and content-sharing system of St.
Xavier's College, Kolkata was formally inaugurated by
Fr. Principal in the presence of the Vice Principals,
Deans and staff members on 5th March, 2018.
This innovation has helped the College in recording
and maintaining attendance of students and sharing
contents, notes and circulars in a paper less
environment. The College has provided tabs to
teachers to record the attendance of the students of
B.Com. and BBA Departments.
Fr. Verstraeten Central Library has come up with a
number of innovations under the able leadership of
Rev. Dr. Xavier Savarimuthu, S.J., Assistant Director of
Fr. Verstraeten Central Library.

and advanced learners of academic fraternity at a

10 MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) for the
benefit of our students. These courses have been
designed in accordance with the 'SWAYAM

provided by MHRD, Government of India. This will give
the students a chance to register for courses which
may not be available in our College and still
earn co-curricular credits for their degrees.
With CBCS structure of higher education
becoming a reality, the path is clear for
students to study diverse subjects beyond the
focus of a specific discipline. Students of our
College were encouraged to enroll for courses
of their choice which was fully free of charge.
For the faculty, this will provide a chance to take
part in an innovative teaching-learning process
and earn valuable points for their career
advancement. And finally, it will also bring
recognition to individual institutions from
bodies such as UGC, NAAC, NIRF etc.
The University Grants Commission (UGC), in its
