A new Wichita A's tour has
been added to our schedule. Don't
miss it! I happens October 8, 2011.
You can read the details in the
"Future Tours" section. We would
like to express our thanks to John &
Susan Stone and Roger & Bonita
Graham for putting this tour togeth-
er.
Just the other day I received
my reminder our MAFCA dues were
due. I checked on line and found it
really easy to renew our membership
on the MAFCA web site. When
your dues are due you might want to
check out this approach. For your
convenience, I have included the
Wichita A's 2012, MARC, MAFCA
and MAFFI membership forms on
pages 7 & 8 in this issue.
Linda Kibbe Editor
The 292nd meeting of the
Wichita A’s was called to order
by President Jim Broadhead on
July 25th, 2011, 7:00 pm at Mini-
sa Park. Jim Nungesser moved
that the minutes of the previous
meeting be approved as printed in
the newsletter. It was seconded
and passed. Ray Harshfield,
treasurer, presented the financial
report. A thank-you note from the
Model A Ford Foundation con-
cerning the club’s donation to the
Model A Museum in Michigan
was read. John Stone shared fly-
ers from the Museum and their
“Buy a Brick” program. Other
sales and car show information
were present on the head table.
Bonita Graham shared the infor-
mation that Karen Waller had
passed away and that Carl
Houchin was experiencing medi-
cal issues. On a lighter note, Bob
Giesen is doing well and Randy
Frazer remains in good spirits as
he continues to improve.
There were no other re-
ports or any old business items.
A count was taken of
those wishing to participate in the
August 20th Mulvane “Old Set-
tler’s Parade”. Tom Ruggles re-
ported on the August 27th “When
Pigs Fly BBQ and Fly-In” in
McPherson. Bob and Helen
Louise Beaver signed up mem-
bers who wished to attend the
September 2-5 “South Central
Oklahoma Tour”. Those wishing
to attend the September 18th “Ice
Cream Social” sponsored by the
Ludlows will need to sign up at
the August meeting.
Refreshments were fur-
nished by Tony Pezzola and was
followed by a presentation by
Ron Kester of “A-Z Model A
Parts and Restoration” shop.
Next meeting will be on
August 22nd. Meeting was ad-
journed after the program.

Ugly Truck Day / When: Always July 20th
Beyond a doubt, Ugly Truck Day is a "guy thing".
Every guy can appreciate the importance of this day. Not to
be left out, a fair number of the ladies appreciate (their) ugly
truck, too! Ugly trucks are loved and cherished by their
owners.
Sure, a brand new, shiny truck with all of the gadgets
and features still working, is a great thing. But, an old, ugly
truck is something to cherish with pride. It has character that
a new truck sorely lacks. It has a long history of dents,
bangs, and scratches, each with their own tale of how it was
proudly earned. Most guys can tell you exactly how and
where every dent and scratch occurred, making your ugly
truck a walking history book.
On Ugly Truck Day, go out and take a drive around with a big, broad smile on your face. You can, and
should, hold an Ugly Truck contest today. But, whatever you do, don't wash or wax your truck today! The histo-
ry of ugly trucks in not written in a book; it's not documented in an encyclopedia. And, it's not chronicled on the
Internet. It's most likely written or etched on the hood, side panels, or bed of the ugly truck!

Each year the club gives a portion of the Swap Meet prof-
its to charity. Usually the recipients are decided by volunteers
who pick the charities.
This year the Board of Directors chose to award the entire
amount to Randy Frazer’s children education. A small donation
of $25 was given to the memorial at the time of the accident, but
was later supplemented with the boards’ decision.
On May 27th this year the Frazer Family was involved a
bad auto accident NE of Pratt Ks and Marla, wife and mother
died at the scene.
The children are Aaron 17, Hannah 15 and Kayla 12.

WICHITA A'S CALENDAR
I have known for a long time that the Wichita A’s membership is made up from some of the best people in
the state, but after our family’s recent accident there is absolutely no question in my mind. I have had many mem-
bers stop by and visit me while in the hospital and at rehab, a group of four men gave up a Sunday and traveled to
Oklahoma to bring my A’s back to Kansas, and of course the very generous gift the club gave to my children’s edu-
cation fund.
I want to thank each of you for all you have done, having a group of people backing and caring for us like
you have has helped make this very difficult time a little easier.
