Een verlichte winter Op een unieke manier de magie van Maas-tricht ontdekken? Volg dan de Kleurrijke Lichtroute en laat je door het adembene-mende lichtspektakel van de bijzondere stadsverlichting leiden en ontdek al wan-delend de stralende sterren van Maastricht. Zo herrijst bij het NS station een verlichte kunstkerstboom (10m.), worden Plein 1992 en de Markt in deze donkere dagen be-kroond met spraakmakende kroonluchters en zullen de 12 sterren van het kunstwerk “Stars of Europe” fonkelen als nooit tevoren. De uitgelichte ‘Hoge Brug’ zorgt voor een bijzonder lichtpad over de Maas en de adem-benemende augmented reality lichtanimatie van de ruim 200 mistletoes, die de bomen op het Onze Lieve Vrouweplein decoreren, belo-ven op spectaculaire wijze een moment van bezinning en verlichting. Steek daarnaast je eigen sterrenlichtje op in de kapel Onze Lieve Vrouw “Sterre der Zee”.

Winter festival of lightsWould you like to discover the special winter magic of Maastricht? Then follow the Colourful Light Route on foot to experience the breathtaking light spectacle of the city and discover the many shining stars of Maastricht. Next to the main railway station, you can admire the 10m-tall Christmas tree made especially for this occasion, and the ‘Plein 1992’ Square as well as the main Market Square will be lit up, during these dark wintry days, by fantastic chandeliers, and the 12 stars of the ‘Stars of Europe’ attraction will light up the sky as never before. The ‘Hoge Brug’ (High Bridge), beautifully lit for the occasion, will illuminate a beautiful path over the Meuse River against the night sky. And the breathtaking augmented reality lighting anima-tion created by the more than 200 special mistletoes decorating the tree on the Onze Lieve Vrouweplein square will create a magic moment of reflection and light. Finally, you can light up your own star in the chapel named after ‘Onze Lieve Vrouw Sterre der Zee’ (Our Lady, Star of the Sea). SMS-kerstboomWinkelcentrum Mosae Forum wordt tijdens de decembermaand verlicht met een spraak-makende SMS-kerstboom. Stuur ook een SMS en zorg dat de kleur van de LED-verlichting van de boom verandert. De opbrengst hiervan komt ten goede aan het Wereld Natuur Fonds.

SMS Christmas treeDuring December, the Mosae Forum shopping centre will be lit up by a very special SMS Christ-mas tree. By sending an SMS, you not only change the colour of the LED lighting on the tree, but also make a contribution to the World Wildlife Fund.

Slapende reus Ook bijzonder is de ‘lichtmetamorfose’ van het 18 meter hoge en zeven verdiepingen tellende Eiffelgebouw: een industriële reus die er verlaten bij ligt sinds het vertrek van Sphinx. Tijdens een uniek lichtproject gaan studenten Interieurarchitectuur van de Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht en maand lang werken aan een unieke lichtinstallatie die deze slapende reus weer tot leven wekt en laat stralen boven de stad.

Sleeping giant A special effect will also be provided by the ‘lighting metamorphosis’ of the 18m-tall seven-story Eiffel building, an industrial giant which has been sleeping since its owner, the Sphinx company, left Maastricht.. During a unique month-long lighting project, students of interior architecture at the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts will work to create a unique lighting installation that will bring this sleeping giant back to life and light up the surrounding area.

Kleurrijk Magisch MaastrichtIn samenwerking met Kenniscentrum Emancipatie Maastricht is een Kleurrijke Kersttekenwedstrijd georganiseerd waaraan ruim 20 basisscholen en meer dan 2.000 basisschoolleerlingen hebben deelgenomen. De vier winnende ontwerpen worden uit-gebeeld in een speciale LED-lichtornament, die onderdeel uitmaken van de algehele sfeerverlichting. Alle overige tekeningen pronken op diverse locaties langs de Kleur-rijke Lichtroute.

Colourful Magical MaastrichtIn cooperation with the Maastricht Emancipation Knowledge Centre, a Colourful Christmas drawing competition has been organised, participated in by over 20 primary schools and over 2000 pupils. The four award-winning designs will be displayed in a special LED lighting project, which will be part of the overall atmospheric lighting project. All the other drawings will also be displayed at various locations along the Colourful Light Route.

13 november: start LichtfeestTijdens de intocht van Sinterklaas op zater-dag 13 november wordt de sfeerverlichting in het centrum van Maastricht feestelijk aangestoken.

13 November: start of the Light FestivalThe atmospheric lighting in the city centre will be lit up for the first time during the triumphal entry of Sinterklaas (St. Nicholas) into Maastricht on Saturday 13 November.

De magische Kersttrein Stap van 13 november t/m 2 januari aan boord bij de speciale Kerstrein (op zonne-energie!), die (zoveel mogelijk) de Lichtroute volgt. Passagiers kunnen een vrijwillige bijdrage doen en de opbrengst komt ten goede aan het Toon Hermans Huis. Vertrekpunt: Station

The magical Christmas trainFrom 13 November to 2 January (incl.), you can board the special Christmas train (powered by solar energy!) which follows the Light Route (wherever possible).
