R8 E17 4 - STASEGEM SPINNERIJSTRAAT 105 - BOLWERK Onder het motto ‘ontmoet je buren’ wil Borderland Festival een jaarlijkse ontmoetingsplaats bieden voor artiesten, publiek en sociaal-ecologische initiatieven uit Vlaanderen, Noord-Frankrijk en Wallonië. De eerste editie van het festival vindt plaats op de site van Bolwerk in Kortrijk, een voormalige industriële site langs het kanaal Bossuit-Kortrijk die de voorbije jaren een transformatie kende tot een bloeiende sociaal-artistieke vrijhaven. Voor Borderland Festival wordt deze site een gezellig, verrassend festivaldorp met ‘ontmoeting’ als rode draad. Het muzikale luik vormt de kern van het programma en omvat heel wat beloftevolle bands uit de drie regio’s. Elk op hun manier maken ze een brug tussen diverse muzikale tradities (jazz, wereldmuziek, balkan, klezmer, folk, country, singer- songwriting, chanson-musette, kleinkunst,...) en de hedendaagse muziekscene. Daarnaast gaan ook een aantal grensoverschrijdende projecten in première zoals de ‘Grote Kleine Fanfare’, een collectieve meezing- en meespeelfanfare voor jong en oud, en ‘Borderland Jam’, een grote akoestische jamsessie, inclusief kampvuur! Ayant pour devise ‘rencontre tes voisins’ le Borderland Festival veut offrir un lieu de rencontre annuel pour les artistes, le public et les initiatives socio-écologiques des Hauts-de-France, de la Flandre et de la Wallonie. La première édition du festival aura lieu sur le site de Bolwerk à Courtrai, un ancien site industriel le long du canal Bossuit-Kortrijk, qui a été reconverti ces dernières années en un lieu d’expérimentation socio-artistique dynamique. Lors du Borderland Festival ce site deviendra un village festif, convivial et surprenant avec comme fil rouge : la rencontre. Le coeur du programme sera la musique.
