Deze foto-impressie is afkomstig uit het in december 2008 te verschijnen fotoboek FACES OF MONGOLIA, 180 pagina's full color, een fotoreportage van Paul Ketelaar met voorwoorden van de ambassadeur van Mongolië te Brussel, mr. H.E. Battur en zangeres Nynke Laverman.

Foundation Dhampus aims to support and facilitate dental treatment and education in oral health for inhabitants of mountain villages in Nepal and slums in urban areas in Mongolia, especially for children in schools, monasteries, and orphanages.

Stichting Dhampus ondersteunt tandheelkundige zorg en geeft voorlichting over mondhygiëne aan inwoners van bergdorpen in Nepal en in achterstandswijken van steden in Mongolië. In het bijzonder richt de stichting zich op kinderen in scholen, weeshuizen, kloosters en opvanghuizen.

In een weeshuis voelt elke aandacht als een geschenk... zelfs van een tandarts.

Lang wachten op de eerste deskundige blik sinds tijden.

Waiting for an expert look for a long time.

Kinderen zijn nieuwsgierig, ook hier. Ze kijken hun ogen uit als hun vriendjes aan de beurt zijn. Zonder morren gaan de mondjes open. En geen enkel kind huilt.

Children are curious everywhere. They look in awe when it’s their friends turn. They open their mouths without complaining. Nobody cries.

Poseren, ook een vorm van aandacht.

Het leven gaat door: spelen, lunchen en kijken. Wij helpen kinderen intussen van hun kiespijn af...

Life goes on: playing, eating and watching. Meanwhile we help children to get rid of their toothache.

Goede tanden voor iedereen?

... dat zou fantastisch zijn, maar is helaas niet haalbaar. Miljoenen mensen leven dagelijks met kiespijn omdat zij geen toegang hebben tot tandheelkundige voorzieningen. Stichting Dhampus wil een aantal van hen structureel helpen door jaarlijks terugkerende bezoeken.

Wat maakt Stichting Dhampus uniek?

Stichting Dhampus verleent kleinschalige hulpverlening op de plaatsen waar het hard nodig is. Snel, professioneel en kosteloos. Geen grote kampementen, maar kleine teams van experts die vrijwillig gerichte tandheelkundige hulp verlenen. Zij betalen zèlf hun reis- en verblijfkosten. Stichting Dhampus is een initiatief van tandarts Joost van Vlijmen te Nijmegen.

Goede tanden voor iedereen?

Wie steunen onsTandartsen, mondhygiënisten en communicatiedeskundigen stellen hun professionele hulp -om niet- beschikbaar. Financieel wordt de stichting Dhampus gesteund door particulieren, bedrijven en lokale sponsorinitiatieven zoals de Rotary Club Nijmegen Zuid en de Nijmeegse tandartsenvereniging (NTV).

SponsormogelijkhedenStichting Dhampus ontvangt geen overheidssubsidie. Al met een kleine bijdrage maakt u een zichtbaar verschil voor mensen die het minder goed getroffen hebben. Uw financiële steun is welkom, op rekeningnummer 78.67.16.843 ten name van Stichting Dhampus te Nijmegen. Bij donaties vanaf 60 euro wordt de boekuitgave Faces of Mongolia thuisgestuurd. Stichting Dhampus heeft de ANBI status, dus uw donaties zijn aftrekbaar van de belasting. Stichting Dhampus is een ideale partner voor (hoofd) sponsors die in het kader van maatschappelijk ondernemen de komende jaren ons doel willen steunen. Deze vorm van steun genereert veel naamsbekendheid (en goodwill) voor deelnemende bedrijven. Sponsoring in natura is ook mogelijk door bijvoorbeeld het doneren van tandpasta, tandenborstels, tandheelkundig materiaal, speeltjes voor kinderen, suikervrij snoepgoed of het ondersteunen van de publiciteit.

Donateurs ontvangen onze jaarlijkse nieuwsbrief. Vrijwilligers en ambassadeurs zorgen voor veel media-aandacht.

Succesvolle projecten

Uw bijdragen maken het mogelijk om het aantal kisten met instrumenten uit te breiden en achter te laten op de plaats van bestemming voor vervolgbezoeken. In Mongolië en Nepal staan kisten met tandartsbenodigdheden, wat herhaald bezoek van teams op dezelfde locaties mogelijk maakt. Net als in het westen gaan kansarmen dan elk jaar naar de tandarts. Ook schaft de stichting o.a. medicijnen, tandartsmateriaal en verdovingsampullen aan.

Good teeth for everybody?... that would be fantastic but unfortunately it is not realistic. Millions of people live with toothache because they don’t have access to dental care. Foundation Dhampus aims to help a number of them structurally by yearly visits.

What makes Foundation Dhampus unique?Foundation Dhampus offers dental care on a small scale for those who really need it. Fast, professionally, and free of charge. No big circus just small teams of experts who provide dental care on a volunteer basis. They pay their own travel and lodging expenses.

Who supports usDentists, oral hygenics and communication experts offer professional help for free. Foundation Dhampus is financially supported by individuals, companies, and local sponsor activities such as the Rotary Club Nijmegen Zuid and the Nijmegen Dentists Association (NTV).

Succesful projects Your support will allow us to enlarge the number of crates with instruments, that are to be left on location for follow-up visits. In Mongolia and Nepal crates have already been left behind. This allows poor people to visit the dentist on a regular basis, just like in western countries. The foundation also acquires medicine and sedatives.
