Vanaf begin 2016 zijn de opleidingen van de Faculteit

Communicatie & Journalistiek (FCJ) tijdelijk gehuisvest op

Bolognalaan 101. Daarna verhuist de FCJ in 2017 naar de

definitieve huisvesting; een nog nieuw te bouwen locatie

op Utrecht Science Park (USP) De Uithof.

In 2017 is al het Utrechtse onderwijs en onderzoek van

Hogeschool Utrecht (HU) geconcentreerd op het USP. Met

onze vernieuwde huisvesting maakt de HU ruimte voor innovatie,

professionalisering van de beroepspraktijk en de persoonlijke

ontwikkeling van talent. Zo willen we als kennisorganisatie

bijdragen aan de sociale, culturele en economische ontwikkeling

van een open, rechtvaardige en duurzame samenleving.

De wereld om ons heen verandert snel. Om mee te kunnen

bewegen met maatschappelijke en technologische ontwikke-

lingen bouwen we aan een moderne en flexibele leer- en

werkomgeving. Een omgeving die je stimuleert om het beste

uit jezelf te halen, die ruimte geeft voor teamwork en die het

mogelijk maakt om te werken en leren op de manier die bij

jou past. Een omgeving die uitnodigt tot ontmoeting, die

duurzaam en veilig is en waar we optimaal gebruik kunnen

maken van de beschikbare ruimte. Door slimmer gebruik te

maken van de ruimtes, anders te roosteren en langere

openingstijden te hanteren, besparen we vanaf 2017 kosten

op onze huisvesting, waardoor we meer geld vrijmaken voor

ons onderwijs en onderzoek.

Om dit te realiseren zijn de opleidingen van de FCJ vanaf begin

2016 gehuisvest op de Bolognalaan 101. In 2017 verhuist de

FCJ samen met de Faculteit Economie & Management (FEM)

en the Institute for Information and Communication Technology

(ICT) van de Faculteit Natuur en Techniek (FNT) definitief naar

een nieuw gebouw op het USP.

Bolognalaan 101 was voorheen in gebruik door de Faculteit

Gezondheidzorg. Op de begane grond zijn de HU Klinieken

nog steeds gevestigd. De eerste, tweede en derde verdieping

zijn aangepast om studenten en medewerkers van de FCJ een

prettige studie- en werkplek te geven. Zo is er op de eerste

verdieping een grote werk- en leeromgeving gecreëerd waar

de instituutspleinen van het Instituut voor Media (IvM) en

het Instituut voor Communicatie (IvC) zijn ingericht. In deze

omgeving vinden ook medewerkers van het Kenniscentrum

en HU Diensten hun werkplek.

In de verschillende ‘gangen’ zijn de onderwijsruimten die

passend zijn bij de opleidingen samengebracht. Er zijn

instructie- en montageruimtes gecreëerd en de voormalige

gymzaal heeft een nieuwe functie als TV studio gekregen.

Er zijn werkplaatsen ingericht en op diverse plekken in het

gebouw zijn studiepleinen te vinden. Er zijn vijf collegezalen in

het gebouw, die ook door andere opleidingen gebruikt worden.

En ook Stef’s Café is meeverhuisd naar de Bolognalaan.

de nieuwe omgeving en de ondersteuning die de HU daarbij

biedt. Evenals de plattegronden met ruimtenummering en

WELCOME AT BOLOGNALAAN 101From the beginning of 2016, the programmes taught by the

Faculty of Communications and Journalism (FCJ) are to be

housed temporarily at Bolognalaan 101. In 2017 the faculty

moves into permanent new premises at Utrecht Science Park

(USP) De Uithof.

All HU teaching and research is to be concentrated at the USP

from 2017. This upgraded campus will provide space for innova-

tion, professionalisation and personal talent development. As an

academic institution, we want to contribute to the social, cultural

and economic development of an open, just and sustainable

society.

The world around us is changing fast. To keep up with social

and technological advances, we are building a flexible, modern

learning and working environment. An environment which will

encourage you to bring out the best in yourself, which will

create room for teamwork and which will allow you to work

and learn in the way that best suits you. An environment which

invites interaction, is sustainable and safe and makes the best

possible use of the space available. Through smarter use of

premises, a different timetabling system and longer opening

hours, we will be able to reduce accommodation costs from

2017 onwards, thus releasing funds which can be devoted to

education and research.

To achieve this, the FCJ is moving temporarily to Bolognalaan

101 at the beginning of 2016. In 2017 it moves into a brand

new building at the USP, which will be shared with the Faculty

of Economics and Management (FEM) and the Institute for

Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which is part

of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology (FNT).

Bolognalaan 101 was previously used by the Faculty of

Healthcare (FG). The HU Clinics are still located on the ground

floor. The first, second and third floors have been remodelled

to provide FCJ students and staff with a pleasant working and

study environment. On the first floor we have created a large

workspace incorporating “institute areas” for the Institute for

Media (IvM) and the Institute for Communication (IvC). Staff of

the Research Centre and HU Services also have their work-

stations here.

Along the corridors are teaching facilities appropriate for the

faculty’s different courses. These include classrooms and editing

suites, whilst the former gymnasium has been converted into a

TV studio. Workstations have been created, and study areas are

provided at various points in the building. There are five lecture

halls, which can also be used by other programmes. And last but

not least Stef’s Café has also moved to Bolognalaan.

What will you find in this brochure?This brochure provides information about working and learning

in the new environment, and the support provided by the HU.

FIND YOUR PLACE TO… WORK, STUDY, MEET, EAT, CREATE

Plan je activiteiten per dag bewust inen zoek hierbij de juiste werkplek, zoals HU-docent en -onderzoeker Stijn Bollinger.

Als student of medewerker van de HU heb je verschillende soor-

ten werkplekken nodig. Soms moet je je kunnen concentreren,

soms wil je juist met anderen overleggen of samen aan een pro-

ject werken. In aanloop naar 2017, als al het Utrechtse onderwijs

en onderzoek van de HU op het USP is geconcentreerd, worden

alle HU-gebouwen zo ingericht dat dat allemaal mogelijk is.

Zo zijn er onder andere stiltewerkplekken in een besloten

omgeving, open ruimtes voor ontmoeting, overlegruimtes en

projectruimtes om samen te werken.

Medewerkers en docenten hebben geen vaste werkplek meer,

ze kiezen de werkplek die past bij de werkzaamheden van dat

moment. Zo kun je flexibel met je activiteiten omgaan en een

balans vinden tussen ontmoeten, verbinden, kennisuitwisseling

en kennisverrijking.

Instituutsplein

Op een instituutsplein werken docenten, medewerkers en

studenten door elkaar. Niemand heeft er een ‘eigen’ plek,

en er is meer ruimte gemaakt voor het werken in groepen. Het

instituutsplein is een open ruimte waar je mensen van jouw

opleiding ontmoet. Er is een pantry met een koffieautomaat en

printers en je vindt er diverse typen werk- en overlegplekken.

Studenten, docenten en bezoekers kunnen elkaar hier ontmoe-

ten, samenwerken, overleggen of een werkplek vinden.

Pilotfilmpje

Afgelopen voorjaar namen de docenten, medewerkers en

studenten op Nijenoord 1 als eersten hun nieuwe instituuts-

plein in gebruik. Hoe bevalt het ze daar? Wat zijn hun ervaringen

met het werken en leren in de nieuwe omgeving? Zijn de docen-

ten al gewend aan het flexwerken? Wat zijn de voordelen en wat

kan er beter? Ze vertellen erover in dit filmpje.

Tips

Het succes van werken en leren in de nieuwe omgeving valt of

staat met goede samenwerking en het maken van afspraken

over zaken als het bijhouden van je aanwezigheid, het netjes

achterlaten van je werkplek en elektronisch werken. Zo kunnen

we op een prettige manier -met elkaar- gebruikmaken van de

flexibele werkomgeving.

Ondersteuning

Flexibel werken wordt ondersteund door goede ICT voorzie-

ningen, zoals laptops en mobiele telefoons voor medewerkers

en docenten. Maar ook door de ondersteuning in het gebruik

en de toepassing ervan, met de toegang tot de Microsoft IT

Academy, waar je diverse online cursussen kunt volgen bijvoor-

beeld voor Office (Excel, Word) of Skype voor bedrijven.

FIND YOUR PLACE TO… WORK, STUDY, MEET, EAT, CREATE

Plan your day’s activities in advance and choose the most appropriate workspace for each. HU tutor and researcher Stijn Bollinger has done just that.

As a student or member of staff at HU, you need various types

of workspace depending on what you are doing at any given

moment. Sometimes you will wish to concentrate without

too many distractions. There are other times at which you

need to consult others or work on a joint team project. In

preparation for 2017, when all of HU’s education and research

activities will be brought together at Utrecht Science Park

(USP) ‘De Uithof’ all HU buildings are being equipped to

allow maximum flexibility. There are ‘individual working areas’

which offer peace and privacy, open rooms which encourage

interaction, conference rooms of various sizes, and project

rooms in which to work as a team.

Staff no longer have a permanent office or even their own

permanent desk. They will choose the workspace which is most

suited to their current activities. This allows them to take a flexible

approach to their work, finding the right balance between

interaction, connection, knowledge sharing and knowledge

development.

The Institute AreaThe Institute Area is the ‘home base’ of each institute, the place

where staff and students meet, interact and work together.

Because there are no permanent offices, there is more room

for working in groups. The Institute Area offers an open-plan

environment in which you can meet others who are involved

in your programme. Facilities include a ‘coffee corner’ and

printers. There are various types of workspace for tuition and

discussion. Staff, students and visitors can meet each other,

work together and consult each other, or they can find their

own workspace for private study.

Pilot project: videoIn March 2015, staff and students at Nijenoord 1 were the

first to adopt the new Institute Area concept. How did they

find working and learning in this new environment? Have staff

become accustomed to ‘hot desking’? What are the advantages

and what aspects call for improvement? The pilot ‘pioneers’

recount their experiences in this short video (in Dutch).

TipsWorking and learning successfully in the new environment

relies on good cooperation. Everyone must make agreements

about matters such as recording attendance, leaving workspaces

neat and tidy, and the use of digital resources. This will allow

us all to make the most of the flexible working environment

and practices.

SupportThe new flexible working concept is supported by good IT

resources, such as laptops and mobile telephones for staff.

There is also support in the use of those resources, including

access to the Microsoft IT Academy which offers various online

courses for users of Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and Skype for

INSTELLEN WERKPLEKSETTING UP YOUR WORKSPACEWelke werkplek je ook kiest, het is verstandig deze altijd

optimaal in te stellen zodat je op een prettige en gezonde

wijze je werk kunt doen.

Werkplekken die bestemd zijn voor meer dan twee uur

aaneengesloten bureauwerk, zijn voorzien van

verstelbaar meubilair. Dit zijn de stiltewerkplekken,

de flexplekken en de wisselplekken.

Gebruikers kunnen het bureau en de stoel zelf instellen.

Hoe doe je dat?

1. Stel eerst je stoel in.

2. Bepaal vervolgens de juiste hoogte van het bureau.

3. Zorg voor de juiste zithouding.

All workspaces which are intended for prolonged use

(two hours or more) have adjustable office furniture.

This applies to the ‘hot desks’ and the concentration

workspaces. Users can – and should – adjust the desk

and chair to their own requirements.

How? 1. First adjust the chair (height and pitch).

2. Then determine the right height for the desk.

3. Ensure that you are sitting properly.

BEGRIPPEN FACILITEITEN

• INSTITUUTSPLEIN Ontmoetingsplek, werk- en studieplek bij instituut

voor studenten en medewerkers, voorzien van diverse typen werk- en overlegplekken.

• STUDENTEN INFORMATIE PUNT (STIP) Balie voor studenten voor alle onderwijszaken rondom

in- en uitschrijving en opleiding.

• RECEPTIE Balie bij de entree voor ontvangst bezoekers,

sleuteluitgifte en BHV/EHBO.

• SERVICEBALIE Balie op de begane grond, voor vragen over ICT en

faciliteiten (uitleen laptop en AV-middelen, facility card, uitgifte kantoorartikelen medewerkers).

• REPRO De Xerox reproshop zit op de begane grond.

• AFSLUITBARE KASTEN Nabij werkplekken op de instituutspleinen

(1 meter kastplank per 1,0 fte).

• LOCKERS Er zijn lockers voor medewerkers en studenten in de

gangen en nabij de instituutspleinen.

• POSTVAKKEN Je vindt de docentenpostvakken op de begane grond.

• PRINTERS & KOFFIEAUTOMATEN Op alle instituutspleinen zijn pantry’s met

koffieautomaten en printers aanwezig.

• LEENLAPTOPS EN AV-MIDDELEN Beschikbaar bij de servicebalie.

• FIETSENSTALLING & PARKEREN Aan de voor- en zijkant van het gebouw zijn er fietsenrek-

ken. Voor medewerkers is er een afsluitbare fietsenstalling. Parkeren kan op de verschillende terreinen op De Uithof, bijvoorbeeld op het terrein voor Bolognalaan 101 of op P+R De Uithof. Medewerkers die meer dan 10 kilometer van de HU wonen, kunnen een HU-parkeerpas krijgen.

• ROKEN Buiten op de daartoe aangegeven plekken. En niet

voor de ingang.

• WIFI In het gehele gebouw.

• INSTITUTE AREA A meeting place and a working environment for staff

and students of a particular institute, offering various types of workspace and meeting space.

• STUDENT INFORMATION DESK (STIP) First point of contact with regard to all education-

related matters, such as registration for courses.

• RECEPTION DESK Main desk for visitors, key issue, First Aid and incident

reports.

• SERVICE DESK Desk for staff enquiries about IT and facilities (loan of

laptop, audiovisual resources, facility card, stationery and office supplies).

• MEDIA SERVICE SHOP The Xerox shop is located at de ground floor.

• SECURE LOCKERS For staff use, (1 meter shelf space per 1.0 FTE),

close to workspaces in the Institute Area.

• LOCKERS Lockers for staff and students are situated in the hall-

ways and close to the Institute Areas.

• MAILBOXES The lecturers mailboxes are all located on the ground

floor.

• PRINTERS AND COFFEE MACHINES Each Institute Area has a pantry (kitchen area) with

coffee/tea facilities and printers.

• LAPTOPS AND AUDIOVISUAL AIDS ON LOAN Available from the Service Desk.

• BIKE SHED AND PARKING Bikes can be parked at the front and the side of the

building. There are separate facilities for staff only (accessed using the HU Pass). There are various parking areas at USP De Uithof, e.g. Bolognalaan 101 or P+R De Uithof. Employees who travel over 10 kilometres between home and the university will be issued with a parking pass for their regular place of work at the HU.

• SMOKING Smoking is permitted outdoors in the designated smoking areas and not near the entrance.

• WIFI Coverage throughout the building.
