ConclusieThis inflammation together with the other histologicfindings (persistence of granulation tissue, presence of foreign bodies and multinucleated giant cells and lack of connective tissue scar formation) is a sign of retarded wound healing. On the basis of the presentresults, the systematic use of Alvogyl as a preventive and curative treatment for postoperative alveolar infections, suggested by the manufacturer, is difficult to advocate.

The routine use of Alvogyl following surgical and non-surgical extraction of mandinular

third molars should be discouraged.

FT plaatsbepaling (1)

BEr is een groot aantal meldingen van CNS toxiciteit. Omdat jodoform vaak gecombineeris met bismuthnitraat, is er enige discussie aan welk bestanddeel de toxiciteit moet worden toegewezen. Maar ook van producten zonder bismuth is CNS toxiciteit beschreven

Veiligheid

BHet middel blijkt niet werkzaam te zijn tegen alveolitis. Wel lijkt de pijn minder bij het inpakken

Effectiviteit

AJodoform wordt sinds 1875 toegepast als desinfectiemiddel bij wonden. Als zalf worden het toegepast op gazen die in alveolenworden gebracht die ontstaan zijn na extractie van gebitselementen. De werkzaamheid bij deze indicatie staat niet vast en wordt door andere ernstig betwijfeld
