QUOTE OF THE

DAYHow ISIS mistreats Indian jihadis..?Indians who joined the terror outfit Islamic State, also known as ISIS, have been subjected to discrim-ination, used as foot soldiers ready to be sacrificed at any given point and always viewed with distrust by the top brass who are mostly Arabs. A report sub-mitted to the union home ministry by central intel-ligence agencies said recruits from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are considered inferior and the prac-tice of Islam in these countries is thought to be apos-tate. South Asians are also more likely to be killed in battle since they are used as foot soldiers while Arabs are preferred for the officer grade and given better salaries and accommodation, the report said. According to the report, second-class treatment to Indians and South Asians is apparent in every aspect of life as a jihadi and even the lure of “jihadi brides” to attract fighters from all over the world is a priv-ilege reserved for a select few. “There is a priority list wherein the senior commanders and ethnic Arab fighters get the first preference. The foreign terrorist fighters from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Sudan are mostly denied jihadi brides since they are considered ethnically inferior to breed the next generation of jihadi fighters in ISIS territory.” After getting inputs from their counterparts in countries neighbouring Iraq and Syria, a detailed analysis of Indians who joined ISIS has been done by Indian intelligence agencies. It is now known that six of the 23 Indians who joined the terror group were killed. While two have returned, 15 are still part of the ISIS. Kalyan-based youth Areeb Majeed and a young girl living in Qatar are two Indian recruits who succeed-ed in returning from the battlefronts of ISIS after facing tough times there. The report attributed the high casualty among Indians and South Asians to the fact that they are tricked into suicide attacks. “Usu-ally they are given a vehicle loaded with explosives and asked to go near a targeted destination and call a person on a certain number, who would purportedly come and meet them to explain the mission. Howev-er, as soon as the number is dialled, the car explodes due to a pre-set mechanism aimed at destroying a specific target.” The intelligence report also sug-gests that there is a disproportionately high level of casualties among the South Asian and African for-eign terrorist fighters. “The Arab fighters with better battle experience are mostly positioned behind these fighters and hence their casualties are proportionally less in terms of their total numbers. This explains why so many Indians from a small Indian contingent have died,” it said.

“we completely reject the comment of Aamir Khan. He is not scared but he is trying to scare people. Aamir Khan makes a comment and Rahul Gandhi supports it. It becomes clear from Gandhi’s comment that there is a conspiracy going on in the country to defame the nation,”

- BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told media persons in New Delhi.

“Lunchbox” actress Nim-rat Kaur, who will be next in “Airlift”, says she was very intimidated to work with a star like Akshay Kumar in her second film itself. “... Google employees have a real love for Star Trek, so much so they ended up building a voice search device inspired by the sic-fi franchise, but it’s nev-er left Google’s labs. It doesn’t connect to any starships, though. As a product, the pin was creat-ed to test how users would interact with search in new ways. The answers to questions posed would be broadcast through its own speaker, or a set of connected headphones. Google loves itself a few Star Trek, and a report from Time says that the company-wide fandom led it to prototype a version of the Star Trek combadge. “I always wanted that pin, You just ask it anything and it works. That’s why we were like, “Let’s go prototype that and see how it feels.’” In short, you could have called it a ‘Google Now button”. Google did not immediately respond to a request for further comment.

Off-spinner Ravichan-dran Ashwin’s stupen-dous performances over the past year is a result of getting “back to basics without trying too much”, feels his Test captain Vi-rat Kohli. Ashwin was in-strumental in India win-ning the Test series in Sri Lanka and is also jointly leading the wicket-tak-ers’ list with 12 victims to his credit. “If you see

his bowling in the last six months he has got back to basics, he has not tried too much with the ball. You hardly see the car-rom ball which means he is relying on his natural bowling action and his stock ball,” Kohli said at the pre-match press conference ahead of the third Test. “He (Ashwin) is flighting the ball and is giving more revs (revolu-tions) to the ball. He has

got stronger fitness-wise as well, which is helping his bowling big time be-cause he is able to put the force behind the ball and get more turn and bounce off the pitches which oth-er bowlers are finding difficult,” Kohli waxed eloquent about the Tam-il Nadu tweaker. “Obvi-ously he is using his skill combined with fitness and he is just becoming a better bowler every day.

In-form opener Murali Vi-jay feels the intense pres-sure put on the visiting South African batsmen by India’s spin bowlers has paved the way for the home team’s domination of the four-match Test se-ries so far. “To be honest, the pressure we have put on the batsman, it was incredible to watch from

the close-in. It is a cat mouse game, everybody trying to come one up and the bowler trying to come up on the batsman and it has been going well for us,” Vijay told reporters at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha on Monday ahead of the third match of the four-Test rubber com-mencing on November 25. “It is the pure pres-sure we put on them and

obviously the same vice versa. When we go out to bat we have our plans and they are also putting immense pressure. So it is a good contest to be a part of,” the opener re-marked further about the series in which India are 1-0 up after winning the opener at Mohali that was followed by the rain-hit, drawn second game at Bengaluru.

Following major security breach at Nagpur airport in September, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered sur-veillance of 20 airports in the country after they were found prone to ‘wildlife intrusion and bird-hits’. The four major airports of the state including Ahmed-abad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot are on the list. This move by the aviation regu-lator comes after a herd of pigs were found scuttled on the runway as Presi-dent Pranab Mukherjee’s Boeing-737 aircraft was taxiing towards the termi-nal building after landing in Nagpur. The surveil-lance order is to check the problem of wildlife in-trusion and bird strikes as part of a safety programme by DGCA. As part of the State Safety Programme, preventing wildlife (bird/animal) strikes to aircraft was identified by DGCA as one of the most import-ant safety priorities. Asserting that it will have full control over upcom-ing plant in Gujarat de-spite letting parent Suzu-ki own and invest there, Maruti Suzuki India has hit back at proxy adviso-ry firm IiAS, which asked minority shareholders to vote against the move, saying the “conclusions” are not based on “any facts or logic”. The com-pany said all profits from the project will come to it and rebutted IiAS’ claims that Suzuki Japan owning the facilities in the state would shift the balance of power in favour of Su-zuki and ‘Maruti will lose control over its destiny’. “Maruti will have full con-trol over what happens in Gujarat, and all the profits from the Gujarat produc-

tion will come to Maruti. In addition, Maruti will earn treasury income from the money not invested in Gujarat,” MSI said. In a re-port last week, Institutional Investor Advisory Services (IiAS) had said, “If the transaction is approved, Maruti will lose all control over its own destiny, and Maruti’s shareholders will always remain subservient to the interest of Suzuki’s shareholders. This is a zero sum game, what Suzuki shareholders will gain and given the loaded dice, they will, Maruti’s sharehold-ers will lose.” The Gujarat plant is envisaged to have an installed capacity of 7.5 lakh units annually. MSI’s two units at Gurgaon and Manesar have a total pro-duction capacity of 1.5 million units annually.

Have visited Ahmedabad for more than 70 days: MP Paresh Rawal tweets

that there were 39,83,589 voters in Ahmedabad, but the number fall, re-leased along with the data for polling percentage, to 38,79,771 on Sunday. Similarly, Jamnagar also saw a reduction of 2,459 voters in the two sets of the SEC data. In rest of the five municipalities — Su-rat, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Rajkot and Bhavnagar — the number of voters

increased in the range of 1,495 (in Rajkot) to 27,173 voters (in Surat). Explaining this, the SEC officials in Gandhinagar said the data of registered voters released by SEC on Saturday had “not incor-porated the addition and deletions of voters” in the electoral roll, which has been revised about five times after the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Talking

about registered voters’ list for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), District Collector Rajkumar Beniwal said, “The last date for freezing voters’ list was September 28, 2015 after which the electoral roll was shared with all political parties… which was 38,79.771 vot-ers… Any clarification in the SEC data will be given from Gandhinagar.”

the Samiti members with Anandiben, announcing patch up with at least a section of the influential Patidar group. The devel-opment also comes a day before the Chief Minster is scheduled to campaign in north Gujarat districts of Mehsana and Patan. Mehsana is the cradle of

the entire agitation and has witnessed most in-cidents of violence after the massive rally by the Samiti in Ahmedabad on August 25. Vijapur talu-ka of Mehsana district is a Patidar stronghold.
