Operator Control Features

The offset tiller arm allows the opera-tor to comfortably walk beside thetruck for easy operation, while alsoproviding an excellent view of theforks, especially with tall loads. Awide steering arc allows exceptionalturning radius with minimal effort.Spring-loaded handle and roomysteering control head promote effort-less movement into the operatingrange. Large thumb or fingertip-actuated butterfly speed controlsprovide easy and precise operation.

Ergonomic layout of lift, lower and

horn buttons deliver comfortableoperation. Large switch on the end ofthe control head changes the truckstravel direction if operator contact ismade. Maximum travel speed can bereduced through the creep switch inthe control keypad.

For ease of operation in tight areas,a tiller-up drive switch allows theAPX to be driven at creep speedwith the handle in a vertical position.

The modern, contoured design,minimizing sharp edges to reducedamage to product. Short trucklength and narrow width allows theAPX to maneuver in narrow orrestricted areas. Fork entry/exit slidesprovide easy access and positioningbetween pallet boards.

The control handle keypad providesPIN codes access to turn the truckon without a key. A stand-by modeallows temporary stops without the

PIN codes needing re-entered torestart the truck. An optional key-switch bypasses the PIN codes toprovide access to the truck. If thetruck is left on, after a programmabletime delay will enter the stand-bymode. After further time delay, thetruck will power off to conserveenergy.

The battery discharge indicator pro-vides the operator with a graphicalindication of the battery chargeremaining and includes lift cut outwhen the battery level is low. On-board diagnostics and self-check atstartup alert the operator if any errorcodes are encountered.

Efficient performance

Heavy-duty 1.3 Hp, three-phase ACdrive motor provides high power andtorque to handle tough applications,with peak performance throughoutthe battery range. Its advanced motorcontroller/AC FET inverter electroni-cally distributes power, as needed, tothe AC drive motor or DC pumpmotor for enhanced efficiency. Its ACdesign eliminates forward and reversecontactors, and uses electronic travelspeed control for precise, efficientperformance.

Battery

An optional battery pack, with built-incharger, features four maintenance-free, heavy-duty batteries with an80A DIN red connector. Its automatic,built-in SCR charger features stop/startcapability, LED display, and plugs intoany grounded 110/120 volt AC outlet

for easy charging.

Smart Electric Brake

Dual braking positions within theupper and lower handle movementrange. The drive unit is equipped withan electrical disc brake system thatutilizes regenerative motor torqueprior to brake actuation for lesscomponent wear and longer life.

Frame and Chassis

The APX Series features a robustchassis with a patented linkage system.The 4-point chassis, with 2 wheels onthe drive side (drive wheel and caster-wheel) plus 2 wheels on the load side,provides enhanced stability. A flexibleconnection between the drive-unit andload-unit provides constant groundcontact and exceptional traction overdock plates and rough floors.

Fork Assembly

Forks are 46.9" long and 6.3" wide,with 26.8" wide outside fork spread.Optional 42" long forks are alsoavailable, as well as various lengthEuro style forks. Pallet entry rollers

facilitate pallet entry and exit.

Wheels

9.1" diameter x 2.8" wide rubber drivewheel features tapered roller bearingsin sealed oil filled case. Vulkollancaster and load wheels, with stringguards, offer increased floor surfacecontact and help prevent debris fromgetting into axles and bearings.

Hydraulics

Heavy-duty integrated lift pump andDC motor features an overload valveto protect hydraulic components, andincludes a check valve and flowregulator. Hydraulic system features an

integrated motor, pump, fluid reservoir,

relief valves and filter, with a singlehose connecting the pump to the liftcylinder.

Drive Unit

Quiet, beveled gear drive system withsealed ball bearings, provides solidperformance with low steer effort. Five-

nut removal of the drive tire simplifiesreplacement when needed.The entire power train is fully enclosedand operates in an oil bath, providinglong life and minimal maintenance.Heavy-duty tapered roller bearingsreduce steering effort and offeradded durability.

Ease-of-Maintenance

Brushless AC drive motor usesfewer components and requires lessmaintenance for lower operating costs.CAN-Bus communication reduces thenumber of wires in the control harness,for reduced maintenance. On-boarddiagnostics and troubleshooting

access through the control panel keypad, without the need for a separatehandset tool.

Removable cover exposes all majormechanical and electrical componentsfor inspection and maintenance. Anemergency cut-out allows the mag-netic brake to be released withoutpower, to tow the truck if a powerfailure occurs. The APXs AC travelcontrol system eliminates directionalcontactors; maintenance needs andassociated costs are greatly reduced.
