WANDELINGEN IN THUDINIE

AVIS DU RANDONNEUR Plongez-vous dans la bataille du 23 août 1914 qui vit le Château

de La Pasture transformé en hôpital provisoire. Beaucoup de troupes allemandes occupent ensuite la région.

Après l’armistice, des divisions australiennes installent leurs quartiers au sein du château de Ham-sur-Heure.

tijdelijk hospitaal. Daarna bezetten veel Duitse troepen de streek. Na de wapenstilstand vestigden Australische divisies

hun kwartieren in het kasteel van Ham-sur-Heure.

HIKER’S OPINION Discover the battle of 23 August 1914 that was fought near La Pasture Castle, used at the time as a temporary hospital. The region was later

occupied by huge numbers of German troops. After the Armistice various Australian divisions established

their quarters in Ham-sur-Heure Castle.

SINT-CHRISTOFFELKERK Bezoek dit neogothisch heiligdom, dat in

1894 gebouwd werd en een beeld herbergt van de beschermheilige van de parochie,

dat traditioneel op de laatste zondag van juli in processie meegedragen wordt tijdens de

militaire mars.

ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CHURCH Built in 1894, this Neo-Gothic shrine contains a statue of the parish’s patron saint, traditionally escorted by a military parade as part of a procession held on the last Sunday in July.

bâti en 1894 contenant une statue du patron de la paroisse que la marche militaire

escorte traditionnellement en procession le dernier dimanche de juillet.

KASTEEL VAN LA PASTURE Op deze plaats bezweek de Franse luite-

nant Charles Cécile aan zijn verwondingen na een Duitse artillerieaanval. De resten van een rood kruis op de muur van het

domein getuigen van zijn gebruik als oorlogshospitaal.

LA PASTURE CASTLE This is where French Lieutenant Charles Cécile fi nally died of wounds sustained during a German artillery bombardment. The remains of a red cross on the wall to the estate refer to its use as a military hospital.

KASTEEL VAN HAM-SUR-HEURE Bewonder in de fusiegemeente Ham-sur-

Heure dit mooie bouwwerk, dat in 1936 beschermd werd en omgeven is door

een prachtig, publiek toegankelijk park. Momenteel zijn de gemeentediensten en

het OCMW erin gevestigd.

MUSEUM VAN HET LANDELIJK EN AMBACHTELIJK LEVEN

In de rechtervleugel van het kasteel ontdekt u onder andere de geheimen van de vervaardiging van de kaatsballen, voorwerpen die gemaakt worden in de glasfabriek van Beignée en taferelen van het plaatselijke leven en de folklore.

RURAL LIFE AND CRAFTS MUSEUMHoused in the right wing of the castle, the museums offers visitors the opportunity to discover all manner of surprising items, including the secrets that go into making the balls for the traditional Belgian game of «balle pelote», objects manufactured by the Beignée glassworks and scenes from local life and folk traditions.

C’est ici que le Lieutenant français Charles Cécile succomba d’une attaque de l’artillerie allemande. Le reste d’une croix rouge sur le mur du domaine témoigne de l’affectation du

bâtiment en hôpital militaire.

CHÂTEAU DE HAM-SUR-HEURE Dans l’entité de Ham-sur-Heure, admirez

ce bel édifi ce, classé en 1936, entouré d’un magnifi que parc ouvert au public. Il abrite actuellement les services communaux et

le CPAS.

MUSEE DE LA VIE RURALE ET ARTISANALE

Dans l’aile droite du château, découvrez entre autres choses les secrets de fabrication des balles pelotes,

des objets produits par la verrerie de Beignée ou encore des scènes de la vie locale et du folklore.
