"Clearly, this is a place that was of enormous importance," said researcher Mike Parker Pearson. The ancient houses are at a site known as Durrington Walls, about two miles from Stonehenge. Researchers believe Stonehenge was a memorial site or cemetery for the villagers. The village also had of a wooden version of the stone circle. It may have been used by people attending festivals at Stonehenge. Eight of the houses have been excavated, or dug up. Researchers say there may be as many as 25 of them. The wooden houses were square and about 14 feet along each side. There are signs of bed frames along the walls and of a dresser or storage unit. The houses also had fireplaces. Two of the houses were separate from the others and may have been the homes of community leaders. Researchers say those sites didn't have the debris and household trash that was found in the other homes. Stone tools, animal bones, arrowheads and other artifacts were found throughout the village site.

OPDRACHT: Voor de leerlijn Engels ga je de komende lessen werken aan een spreekbeurt/gesprek. Het is de bedoeling dat je in duo’s een film gaat samenvatten in het Engels. Stel jullie hebben laatst de nieuwste Harry Potter film gezien. In deze opdracht vertel je samen in het Engels aan je docent waar die film over ging en hoe jullie de film vinden. Ook gaat je docent wat vragen stellen over de film, die je dan in het Engels moet beant-woorden. We adviseren je om een film te kiezen waar je gemakkelijk over kunt vertellen, dus waar je al genoeg over weet. De volgende onderdelen moeten verplicht voorkomen in je spreekbeurt:

Werkwijze Je werkt per tweetal in een aantal stappen toe naar je eindproduct, de spreekbeurt.

1. Schrijf je spreekbeurt eerst in het Nederlands. Hierin zet je al de tekst die je in je presentatie wilt verwerken. Je maakt nu dus niet het spreekschema met steek-woorden, maar schrijft de hele presentatie uit. Zorg ervoor dat de hierboven ge-noemde verplichte velden uitgewerkt worden.

2. Vervolgens ga je de Nederlandse tekst omzetten naar het Engels. Het is heel be-langrijk dat je simpele, korte zinnen gebruikt. Gebruik ook geen vertaalmachines, omdat deze vaak foute zinnen maken. Zorg ervoor dat de Engelse tekst in je ei-gen woorden schrijft! Het raadplegen van een woordenboek mag WEL.

3. Als je de Engelse tekst hebt gemaakt, maak je er vervolgens een spreekschema/ steekwoordenlijst van. Hierin gebruik je steekwoorden om aan te geven wat je gaat vertellen en in welke volgorde. Je spreekschema mag je gebruiken tijdens de spreekbeurt.

4. Oefenen uitspraak. Voor je begint met de spreekbeurt, is het verstandig om een les uitspraak te oefenen met elkaar, onder begeleiding van je docent. Zo kun je je script uitproberen en ervoor zorgen dat je geen fouten maakt of vastloopt tijdens de presentatie.

Het eindproduct: Uiteindelijk lever je de volgende zaken in: 1. De Nederlandse tekst 2. De Engelse tekst 3. Het spreekschema/steekwoorden De presentatie moet voldoen aan de volgende eisen: Duur: ca. 5 minuten; Beide leerlingen moeten evenveel aan het woord zijn; Duidelijk en verstaanbaar Engels; Neem een flyer, poster of andere afbeelding van de film mee.

TIPS: Gebruik GEEN vertaalmachines en laat je werk regelmatig checken door je docent.

BEOORDELING: Hoeveelheid en juistheid van de verstrekte informatie. Engelse uitspraak en woordenschat. Vloeiende manier van spreken. Vragen correct beantwoorden.
