Study AbroadSouthern Cross University offers you the opportunity to study for one or two teaching sessions in Australia. You will gain credit from your home institution for your studies in Australia. This is an opportunity to broaden your international perspective and explore the best of Australia.

Study Abroad is arranged through your home institution or through a Study Abroad representative in your home country. Southern Cross University offers three and four-unit session options for students at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. Students can choose to take one or two sessions at Southern Cross University. Southern Cross University offers a range of interesting units including practicl or Australia-specific topics. See the ‘how to apply’ section of this brochure for more information on subject choice.

Hospitality InternshipsThe Study Abroad Hospitality Management program offers you the opportunity to study and gain practical workplace experience in Australia. The program is designed so you can complete one session of academic study at Southern Cross University, followed by a session of internship to help you build valuable ‘hands-on’ skills and experience.

Career Start Career Start is designed to help you broaden your international perspective in a location that is perfect to explore the best of Australia. Your studies in Australia will be credited back to your home institution. The course starts with 10 or 20 weeks of the English Language Proficiency Program and then four (4) units of academic study. This program is designed for students with an English language level of less than Academic IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

Explore AustraliaA big part of your Study Abroad experience is getting out and exploring all that Australia has to offer. A range of trips are organised by Southern Cross University from camping adventures in the Australian outback to surfing lessons at our beautiful local beaches. The trips are designed to help make the most of your time in Australia and build relationships with your classmates from around the world. Explore Australia activities change each session depending on the season and student interest. Some students will have these excursions included in their Study Abroad package. Trips can include:

• Four-wheel drive tour of Fraser Island

Accommodation

Lismore and Coffs Harbour International students studying at SCU can choose accommodation options on campus in Lismore and Coffs Harbour with SCU Village, or the accommodation service provided by Unistays for those wanting to live off campus at Lismore or Coffs Harbour.

Whether students live on campus or off campus, they will need to supply their own linen (sheets, blankets, pillows, towels) and kitchen requirements (saucepans, cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils such as colander/can opener/spatula/tongs/chopping knives etc).

On campus — SCu VillageSouthern Cross University works closely with student accommodation specialists, Campus Living Villages.

At both Lismore and Coffs Harbour, students enjoy quality accommodation just minutes away from classes. Both villages offer a ‘Live, Learn, Grow’ residential life program is designed to help students meet new people, support their studies and develop life skills to use throughout university and beyond. From social events and sporting competitions, to cooking classes and essay writing workshops, SCU Village provides the complete living and learning experience.

Dedicated resident assistant teams, as well as an evening duty manager at Lismore, are available to provide assistance and help students settle into their new community.

Lismore

SCU Village at Lismore offers a range of two-to-six-bedroom apartments at three locations, called Orion, Sirius and Magellan colleges. All colleges are located within walking distance from classes. Facilities vary at each college, but may include in-room internet access, swimming pool, recreation rooms and on-site laundries. Residents can also enjoy a range of new and improved facilities, including modern apartments and bathrooms, revamped common areas, a study room, outdoor entertainment areas and movie facilities.

Coffs Harbour SCU Village at Coffs Harbour provides modern, four-bedroom apartments and a recreation lounge located a short walk from any part of the campus. With just 96 residents, the Coffs SCU Village offers an inclusive and friendly community where residents can feel right at home.

Off campus — uniStays

A year-round online service called UniStays is available at the University’s campuses to help students find private rental and other off-campus accommodation at the Gold Coast, Lismore and Coffs Harbour. scu.edu.au/accommodation

Gold CoastThe Gold Coast area has a range of private housing options, from full board with private residents, to hostel accommodation, units, houses and sharing a house or unit with others. Refer to the information in ‘Off campus - Unistays’ in the section above.

Students can use the online UniStays service to find private rental accommodation.

Alternatively, online searches at sites such as www.gumtree.com.au or www.realestate.com.au and using real estate agents are also a good way to find accommodation.

HomestayHomestay provides accommodation with a local Australian family and is designed to improve language proficiency and assist students to integrate in to the Australian lifestyle. 宿泊大学のキャンパス内には学生寮もあります。詳しくはホームページでご確認ください。

通常オーストラリアの学生は4Unitを取得しますが、認定留学の学生は比較的時間に余裕のある3Unitコースと普通の4Unitコースから選ぶことができます。両方ともに学生ビザの対象になります。サザンクロス大学付属の英語学校は3都市(リズモア、ゴールドコースト、コフスハーバー)にあり希望によりキャンパスを選ぶことができます。

オーストラリアの大学は 通常は2学期制で前期が2月の中旬にスタートし後期は7月初旬にスタート。またビジネス学部と観光学部は11月初旬からスタートする第3学期の受講が可能。

Study Abroadプログラムでは自分の大学の専門とは違った教科を選ぶことも可能。ただし大学の認定を受けるときは専門に近い教科である必要もあるので自分の 大学に事前に確認することが必要。
