THE WELL PROJECT

Many

ofyou

are

aware of

th e

severe

water problems that had

developed (while we

were

on

furloug

our

house in Lusaka. There

was

only a small amoxmt ofwater coming on

the

property during

th e

even

and none during the days.

We ejqjerienced

one period

of five

dayswhen not onedrop came out

of

the

p

We

were

literally spending

hours

every evening catching and carrying

the little bit

of

water that

did c

Therewas

not

enough

for

drinking,

cooking,

bathing and

toi le ts . It did

not take

longto decide

that

a

bore

was

necessary.

I

am

happy to report

that

 at

last)

the well has Ixion

completed, the

storage tank

and

t

installed,

and

that

we have

water

-

plenty

of it

Many

thanks

to you

who were

able

to

help

with the

co

this project.

STOPOVER

IN ENGLAND

We enjoyed

our visit in England with our

good finends,

the Sweitzers.

Jerry and Mary are ministering

with

th e

Macclesfield Road

Chxirch

in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.

Dur ing our t ime there

we

visited several china factories

 Wedgewood

for

example),many

antique

shops, cathedrals,

and

t raveled into Scotland

and

Wales.

The English coun

tryside is beautiful,

clean

and &esh. All of

the

food was

exceptionally good; we

especially enjoyed  bangers

and

mash

Itwas an honor and

privilegeto be

invited

to

preach

during

th e

morning worship hour on Sunday.

Morning

worship in

England.

OUR FIRST

SUNDAY WITH THE ZAMBIANS

Itwas particularly satisfying

to be

back in the

pulpit

with th eMumbwaRural congregations. AtK

we

reflectedon

the fact

that

onlythree

short

years ago

there

were

approximately

ten

members

meetingtogether

in

their

very

temporary structure. As

we arrived

there

recently

for

the first time in over

a

year, wewere greeted by the ladies

singing and dancing

as they

came

out of the

building,

and

the men

were

all

smi les

and handshakes

here

were

seventy-three

in

attendance

that

day,

andtheirpermanent

building

was well-maintained.

Their

choir

has grown in

quality and

quantity.

HEAT

We

are  experiencing our

fifteenth

hot

season in

Zambia, and I think that

this one

is

th e hottest

yet

Everyone

is

discussing

(complaining )

about theweather.

I

heard that Zambia was  honored recently with

th e

unenviable

statistic of

being

the hottest place

on earth that

day. The rains

bring their

own set

of

specialproblems,but

they also bring

relief from th e

heat.

I

Morning

worship in

Zambia.

MARTI S PAGE

Dear

Friends. Itwas

great

to be intheUnited States

and refresh

ourselves anew

in your love and friendship.

Thank

you for

drawing us

back into

the

circle and

not

allowing us to be strangers on

the outside.

We love and

appreciate each one of you dearly. It is always somewhat

difficult

to

come

home to

Zambia,

not

knowing what to

expect here. Our

hearts yearn

for family and

finends

in

America and for Andrew in Kenya. We

must

prepare

ourselves

anewmentally to be

soldiers

in the Lord sAmy,

fighting once

again

in

the

frontlines. It is

not

always a

comfortable place to be . We have been plagued by many

problems

since our

return:

the

deaths of special friends

duringour

absence;

no water

(o r

almostno water) for days

at a

time

on

our

property; a flea-infested yard;

the

loss of

two

of

our

three

guard

dogs;

electrical

and plumbing

faults to correct

orrepair

including

no

ho t

water; etc. We

areas a result especially thankful for

your

prayers during

these

difficulties. They have made

th e

difference. They

have

sustained

us , encouraged us ,

and

have

given

us

strength

to

press

on.

Most

of

these

problem

now been solved. We thank youforbeing a

vital

partof

ourministry

here. You
