Bij rampen en conflicten staat de menselijke waardigheid onder zware druk. Het is juist onder deze druk dat de menselijke kracht manifest wordt. Niet alleen bij de ‘slachtoffers’, die alles op alles zetten om hun bestaan weer te herstellen, maar ook bij degenen die op basis van menslievendheid en gevoelens van authentieke verbondenheid hulp bieden. In het humanity house wordt dit proces en de weg naar de hoop inzich­telijk en vooral: ervaarbaar gemaakt.

During disasters and conflicts, human dignity comes under enormous pressure. It is just when subjected to such pressure that humanity’s strength manifests itself. Not only is it expressed by the ‘victims’ giving their all to restore their lives, but also by those who offer help out of their love for humanity and feelings of genuine solid­arity. Humanity house provides insight into this process and the road to hope and, above all, makes them tangible.

Een publieksplek die mensen inspireert, aan het denken zet én in beweging brengt. Het is ook een kennisplatform waar professionals kennis delen en ontsluiten voor een groot publiek. Het humanity house richt zich op de mens en de actualiteit en biedt altijd een hoopvol perspectief op een menswaardig bestaan.

The humanity house is the place for knowledge in the area of emergency aid in armed conflicts, and disasters and humanitarian law. A public place that inspires people, gets them thinking and encourages them to act. It is also a knowledge platform, where profession­als share knowledge and make it avail­able to a large audience. The humanity house is focused on humankind and current events, and always offers a hopeful perspective on a dignified exist­ence.

Het humanity house is er voor iedereen die belangstelling heeft voor noodhulp bij conflicten en rampen, en humanitair oorlogsrecht. Het Humanity house trekt scholieren, inwoners en gasten van Den Haag en omstreken, professionals in noodhulp en humanitair oorlogsrecht, Rode Kruisleden, –donateurs en ­vrijwilligers.

The humanity house is for everyone interested in emergency aid in armed conflicts and disasters and humanitar­ian law. The humanity house attracts schoolchildren, residents of and visitors to The Hague and its surroundings, professionals in emergency aid and international humanitarian law, Red Cross members, supporters and volunteers.

In het humanity house vind je alles op het gebied van noodhulp en humani­tair oorlogsrecht. Maar de kennis staat niet op zichzelf. Kennis moet leiden tot bewustwording, bewustwording tot be­trokkenheid en betrokkenheid tot het nemen van actie.

In the humanity house you will find everything in the fields of emergency aid and international humanitarian law. But knowledge itself is not enough. Knowledge should lead to awareness, awareness to commitment, and commit­ment to action.
