the service of such person i n the P a l e s t i n e G e n d a r m e r i e m a y be t a k e n i n t o account as service q u a l i f y i n g for pens ion under the P e n ­sions O r d i n a n c e , 1925, and i f after l e a v i n g the P a l e s t i n e G e n d a r ­mer i e such person was appointed to a pensionable office w i t h i n the m e a n i n g of the P e n s i o n s O r d i n a n c e , 1925, or to such service i n a c i v i l capac i ty as aforesaid , w i t h a break not exceeding three m o n t h s , such break s h a l l be deemed to be leave w i t h o u t pay .

Service i n the Palestine Gendarmerie may count as service qualifying for pension in certain circumstances.

O B J E C T S A N D R E A S O N S .

T h e object of t h i s O r d i n a n c e is to provide that the service i n the Palestine Gen­darmer ie of a person w h o has subsequently been appointed to pensionable service or a pensionable office w i t h i n the m e a n i n g of the P e n s i o n s O r d i n a n c e , 1925, (which comprises e m p l o y m e n t i n the C i v i l D e p a r t m e n t s of the G o v e r n m e n t of Palestine) a n d n o w holds such pensionable office, m a y , under ce r ta in cond i t i ons , count as service q u a l i f y i n g h i m for pens ion under that O r d i n a n c e . ;

2. T h e condi t ions subject to w h i c h the service of such person in the Palestine G e n d a r m e r i e may count as pensionable service are the f o l l o w i n g : —

( a ) he m u s t have received a grant or a l lowance i n respect of his service in the G e n d a r m e r i e ;

(6) such g rant or a l l owance must be re funded b y h i m ;

(c) the i n t e r v a l , i f a n y , between h i s service i n the G e n d a r m e r i e and his service i n the pensionable service or pensionable office m u s t not exceed three months;

(d) h i s service in the pensionable service a n d / o r pensionable office must have been u n b r o k e n f r o m its commencement u n t i l the date of this Ordinance.
