Ayat of the Month
“Say (O Muhammad): I
ask no recompense from
you but love of my near
family (Ali, Fatimah, Ha-
san, Hussain)“
[Surah Ash-Shuraa: Ayat
23] (42:23)
Hadith of the Month
Hadrat Ya‟la bin Marwaa
reports that (رضي هللا عنه)
Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه
said, “Hussain ( واله وسلم
is from me, and I am from
Hussain. Whosoever has
kept Hussain as his be-
loved, Allah is his be-
loved.
Welcome to the start of the Islamic New Year- 1434
Editor’s Note: The Islamic New Year-Moving Forward Muharram is the first month of the Islamic
calendar and marks the beginning of the
new Islamic year: Hijri 1434.
SubhanAllah! It has been almost a year
now that The Monthly Noor has been re-
leasing publications with all of the stu-
dents‟, parents‟, and community members‟
support. Insha‟Allah, we hope to continue
publishing, so as a humble request, please
keep us in your prayers.
As we begin the new year, we are remind-
ed of new beginnings, change, and moving
forward. Many of our brothers and sisters
are coming back from Hajj, hearts and
souls purified. The world is seen in a dif-
ferent light after one has done Hajj. It is a
tremendous way to begin the new year;
however, we are also given another very
powerful reminder in this first month: the
Shahadat of Imam Hussain.
Sayyidinah Imam Hussain رضي هللا عنه is
the grandson of Rasulullah صلي هللا عليه واله
He is blessed with the image of .وسلم
Rasulullah صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم from his
chest down to his feet. The Prince of Jan-
nah, Imam Hussain, is a leader of paradise.
Rasulullah صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم said that
Imam Hussain inherited his own traits of
courage and generosity and that Imam
Hussain was his flower of this world.
Imam Hussain was from the family of
Rasulullah صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم , had the
jamal (beauty) of Rasulullah صلي هللا عليه واله
the Noor of Bibi Fatimah, and the , وسلم
bravery and chivalry of Hadrat Ali. His
chivalry, nobility, and benevolence knew
no bounds even when his life was threat-
ened. He gave up his home, his wealth, his
security, and his family in order to stand
up for the truth. He sacrificed his life and
became shaheed on the 10th of Muharram.
Tears well up as we remember the injus-
tice done to the Holy Family of Rasulullah
as he himself also , صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم
shed tears for Imam Hussain, but we
shouldn‟t simply reduce him to tears. We
should learn, apply, and live the values
Imam Hussain sacrificed his life for. In
this way, Imam Hussain achieved victory
in his shahadat! We have to love him dear-
ly, remember his sacrifice, hold onto the
Qur‟an and the rope of the Ahlul Bayt, and
keep them dear to our hearts. This way, we
can keep moving forward, towards Allah.

My senility knocks
Knocks strong and tough
With each passing day
My limbs feel like fluff
Quiet are my days and night
Scooped up in a humdrum way
I miss the joy of hustle & bustle
Afraid my empty nest will sway
I glance at my past
Pretty content with my life
Gave my kids the very best
Paid-off seemed all my strife
I woke them each day
With the bright sun and a smile
I invoked Allah to bless them
My dreams could wait a while
I tried to follow Allah‟s commands
Instilled in them love of religion
Ensured they found solace in books
And enjoyed both fact and fiction
I didn‟t waste a single moment
When I heard their cries
I rushed to soothe them
And wipe their eyes
I kissed their scabbed elbows
And bandaged wounded knees
I hugged them close
Till they giggled with glee
Tirelessly I played hide n seek
And laughed at their hackneyed jokes
Wanting each moment to count
Before they were grownup folks
I chased butterflies with them
And baked sumptuous cakes
I taught them to be fearless
Never tremble or shake
I taught them to dream big
Aim for the farthest star and leap
Never falter in trials and tribulations
As worthwhile ascents are often steep
I gave them knowledge of Islam
That Allah‟s Will be their Light
They must simply have faith
Angels will protect day and night
With them I celebrated their wins
And crossed bridges of failures too
I was always there for them
With my presence their strength grew
As time flew by relentlessly
My age paled me feeble
But I was elated to see them soar
Patrol the sky like an eagle
They now shoulder many responsibilities
Valuable is every minute of their day
They can‟t afford to dilly dally
To sit by me with my hair so gray
Although fleeting are their visits
I hope once again and wait
That when they come by next
They may stay until late
My eyes quietly follow their footsteps
Wishing today they may have time
To talk for hours and laugh together
And fill my heart with rhythm and rhyme
As I escort them outside to say goodbye
I stroke their hair and force a smile
That they just might turn around
And walk with me a while.

Charity starts at home. Be kind
to your parents before being kind
to others since they have the
highest rights on you. Do not act
with impatience towards
them. How you behave with
them says a lot about you. Mis-
treating one's parents is the high-
est form of bad luck and removes
rizq (wealth) from a person for
every misdeed done with them.
Allah promises to mete out pun-
ishment in this life as well as the
next. When we disrespect our
parents with even something
small, like words, it leaves us
empty. It injures the hearts of our
most loved ones.
“Thy Lord has decreed that you
shall worship none but Him and
be kind to parents. Whether one
or both of them attain old age in
thy life, never say “uff” to them
or scold them, but always speak
graciously to them.” (17:23).
What an apt example! “Uff”
takes its worst form when di-
rected at parents. Saying such
words with disrespect will only
hurt our parents‟ feelings. In old
age, their bodies are frail and
their abilities (physical and men-
tal) are diminished. Sickness af-
ter sickness, helplessness
abounds, and loneliness lurks.
With our bodies strong, our abili-
ties high, our health intact,
Alhamdulillah, we need to do
more for them. They gave to us
everything we have, so we should
give back to them even more.
“And out of kindness lower to
them the wing of humility and
say: My Lord bestow on them
Thy Mercy even as they cher-
ished me in childhood.” (17:24).
Allah has commanded us to be
kind to our parents many times
such as in 17:23, 17:24, 2:83,
29:8, 31:14, 4:36, and 46:15.
When praying we must pray for
them and their salvation as well
(71:28, 17:24)!
Our parents loved us even before
we were born. They shielded us
from all kinds of evil and harm
and taught us how to differentiate
between right and wrong. They
groped in the darkness so we
could walk in the light. Selfless-
ly, they spent their best and
strongest years raising us. They
opened to us the world of Truth.
They gave us knowledge and
their hard earned money. How
much they sacrificed for our
comfort and sound growth we
may never realize.
Our mother, under whose feet is
paradise, bore us and gave birth
with so much apprehension and
pain (both apparent and non-
apparent). Allah
(Subahanahuwata‟Ala) says:
"We have enjoined on man kind-
ness to his parents; in pain did his
mother bear him, and in pain did
she give him birth.”( 46:15)
We must also beware that, when
we ourselves have children In-
shaAllah, they will be watching
us and learning more from ac-
tions than our words. Not only
that, but they will treat us in the
same way we treated our parents.
This is an obligation that trans-
cends generations.
The amazing part is that whatev-
er we spend on our parents is
counted towards charity (2:215).
A worldly gift may be raved
about for a few minutes or even
days but spending our time and
money for our parents transports
us to a higher spiritual plane.
Finally, Rasulullah (pbuh) com-
mented about the responsibilities
towards our parents in that:
· "Paradise lies under the feet of
the mother.
· "Allah's pleasure is in the pleas-
ure of the father, and Allah's dis-
pleasure is in the displeasure of
the father.
· "It is a pity that some people
may not attain Paradise, on ac-
count of not serving their old par-
ents.
· A person once asked the Holy
Prophet (pbuh), "Who has the
greatest claim on me with regard
to service and kind treatment?"
The Holy Prophet replied, "Your
mother and again your mother
and once again your mother. Af-
ter her is the claim of your father,
then that of your near relatives,
and then of the relations next to
them".
May Allah give all of us the
Tawfiq to truly love , respect, and
fufill the rights of our parents.

The Ahlul Bayt
literally translates
into “People of
the House.” This
refers to the fami-
ly of Rasulullah (
صلي هللا عليه واله
his close ,( وسلم
ones, his wives,
and his descend-
ants. Out of the
Ahlul Bayt, Allah
chose five
amongst them who Allah purified and exalted above
all people. These five are: Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه
,Hadrat Ali, Bibi Fatimah, Imam Hassan ,( واله وسلم
and Imam Hussain.
The family of Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) is a
treasure chest of love, blessing, and light. They are
role models and demand our utmost love and re-
spect. Allah says in the Qur‟an about the Ahlul
Bayt:
Oh Ahlul Bayt, Allah wishes only to remove pollu-
tion from you and to purify you through a thorough
purification (Al-Azhaab-33:33).
This ayat was revealed in the house of Bibi Salma, a
wife of Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ). When this
ayat was revealed, Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم )
took his cloak and wrapped Hadrat Ali, Bibi Fati-
mah, Imam Hassan, and Imam Hussain in it, mean-
ing that these five were of an exalted status blessed
from Allah.
The family of Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) has
a very important place in Islam. Near the end of
Rasulullah‟s ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) worldly life, he
gave a khutba to all of the Muslims present. It was
the first Hajj, but the last for Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه
therefore, almost the entire Ummah was ;( واله وسلم
present. It was at this time, on the day of Arafah,
that Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) said, “Oh
people! I am leaving among you two things, one is
of them greater than the other: the book of Allah and
my Ahlul Bayt. If you hold onto them, you will not
be misguided after me.”
After the day of Arafat, the Ummah went back to
their homes; however, as Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله
was heading back to Medinah Munawwara ( وسلم
Shareef with his blessed Sahaba, he told them to
stop half way in route. He then addressed his com-
panions, “I am leaving amongst you two heavy
weights. The first is the greater weight, the rope to
Heaven, the book of Allah. The other thing is the
Ahlul Bayt. And those two weights will never be
separated.” Both ahadith are Saheeh and Muttawatr.
Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) emphasized his
family twice! The Qur‟an and the Ahlul Bayt are
inseparable. They are the key to each other. If you
want to understand the Qur‟an you go to the Ahlul
Bayt, and if you want to understand the Ahlul Bayt
you go to the Qur‟an. Without each other, you will
never be able to understand either.
We are required to love them as a part of our creed.
Imam Shafi‟ confirms this with his poetry he wrote
about them. In addition, when we pray our salaat,
we send peace and blessings on Rasulullah ( صلي هللا
.and his family (Ahl) before finishing ( عليه واله وسلم
This is how Durood-e-Ibraheemi was placed in our
Salaat. Such is their status that our prayer to Allah is
nullified or compromised without the sending of
peace and blessings upon the Ahlul Bayt!
Allah states that, “And all hold onto the rope of Al-
lah and do not disperse” (3:183). Imam Shafi‟ con-
firmed this to mean that the rope of Allah is the
Ahlul Bayt, and by loving, respecting, and following
them, we will be lead on the straight path to Allah in
Jannah InshaAllah.

The Sahaba, May Allah be pleased with them, are
the best of people: of all communities and of all
generations. Never again will a time come where
such great people exist. We know of their numerous
historical feats for Islam and the countless miracles,
karamat, that are associated with them. But what
was their secret? What made them so perfect in
character, manners, religion, family, community,
and dawah? They lived by example, loved Allah,
held onto the Qur‟an, and loved the Ahlul Bayt.
Abu Bakr Siddiq said “By the One in whose hands
is my life, the Prophet‟s ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم )
relatives are more beloved to me than my own rela-
tives.” (Bukhari)
Hadrat Abu Bakr‟s love for Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه
is well known. Hadrat Abu Bakr was the ( واله وسلم
first Caliph of Islam, the father of Rasulullah‟s ( صلي
صلي ) wife, accompanied Rasulullah ( هللا عليه واله وسلم
on the Hijra, and was given the title ( هللا عليه واله وسلم
“As-Siddiq” by Allah. He was Rasulullah‟s ( صلي هللا
,best friend and sacrificed his wealth ( عليه واله وسلم
property, and well-being for the sake of Allah and
his Rasul ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ).
He loved Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) so much
that he also ordered, “Safeguard Muhammad in his
Ahlul Bayt” (Bukhari). As an example of this love
for the Ahlul Bayt, „Uqba bin Al-Harith is reported
to have said, “I saw Abu Bakr carrying Al Hasan
and saying, “Let my father be sacrificed for you;
you resemble the Prophet and not „Ali,” while „Ali
was laughing at this (Saheeh Bukhari).
Look at the amount of love and respect he had for
the children of Hadrat Ali! Saying Imam Hasan
looked like Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) is an
enormous compliment. Not only that, but Hadrat
Abu Bakr As-Siddiq and Hadrat Ali were walking
side by side each other as friends. They loved each
other and respected each other very much even
though their stations with Allah are tremendous.
Hadrat Abu Bakr loved the Ahlul Bayt because he
knew Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) loved them
too. Hadrat Umar and the other blessed Sahaba also
loved the Ahlul Bayt for the same reason with narra-
tions proving this. Narrated by Ibn Sa‟d, Ibn Ra-
huyah, and al-Khatib, Umar saw al-Husayn ibn Ali
ibn Abi Talib waiting at this door. He said to him,
“You are more deserving of permission to enter than
[my own son] AbdAllah ibn Umar! You see the
goodness that was placed on our head; [therefore]
first Allah, then you [the Ahlul Bayt].”
The Sahaba loved Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم );
therefore, they showed deep respect and love to eve-
rything Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) liked.
Although he was apart of the first generation after
the Sahaba, Imam Shafi‟ also expressed his love for
the Ahlul Bayt through poetry. Here is one of many
verses he wrote for them.
“O Family of the Prophet يلص ( هللا )ملسو هالو هيلع
your love is an obligation from Allah in the Quran
He sent to us It is sufficient for your great honor and
prestige that whoever does not send blessings upon
you has no prayer”
The amount of respect and love between the Sahaba
and Ahlul Bayt is clear! May Allah raise the status
of the Sahaba, bless them, and increase our love for
them forever!

Allah, the Most Praised and the Most High, has stat-
ed in His Majestic Qur‟an:
“The number of the months in the sight of Allah is
twelve months. [They were already inscribed] in the
Book of Allah on the day when He created the heav-
ens and the earth; four of them are sacred” (9:36).
Muharram is one of these sacred months. This
means that good deeds done in the month of Muhar-
ram are multiplied, and Allah will look upon us with
Mercy and Forgiveness.
Rasulullah (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم) is reported to have
said with an authentic chain from Shaikh Abu Nasr
Muhammad ibn al-Banna, “If someone observes a
day of fasting during Muharram, for every such day
he will be credited with thirty days.”
In addition, Hadrat Ali (رضي هللا عنه) is reported to
have said, “In Allah‟s Sacred Month (al-Muharram),
Allah has relented toward certain people, and He
will also relent toward others.”
Even with all of these blessings within the month
itself, Muharram is also blessed with the day of
Ashura. Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم),
transmitted by Maimun ibn Mihran on the authority
of Ibn Abbas ( رضي هللا عنه ), is recorded to have said
the following things about the day of Ashura.
On the day of Ashura:
The heavens were created
The mountains were created
The oceans were created
The Pen [Qalam] was created
The Tablet [Lawh] was created
Adam (Alayhis Salaam) was created
Adam (Alayhis Salaam) entered Jannah
Ibrahim (Alayhis Salaam) was born
Allah delivered Ibrahim (Alayhis Salaam) from
the fiery furnace
Musa (Moses) (Alayhis Salaam) split the sea and
Pharoah drowned
Ayyub (Job) (Alayhis Salaam) was relieved of
his trials and tribulations
Allah (Exalted is He) relented toward Adam
(Alayhis Salaam)
Allah forgave the sin of Dawud (David)
(Alayhis Salaam)
Isa (Jesus) (Alayhis Salaam) was born
The Day of Judgement (Yowm al-Qiyamah) will
occur
Jibrail (Alayhis Salaam) and the angels were
created
The Heavenly Throne (Arsh) was created
Allah raised Idris (Alayhis Salaam) to heaven
Allah raised Isa (Alayhis Salaam) to heaven.
Allah granted kingship to Sulaiman (Solomon)
Also, Rasulullah (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم) is reported to
have said the following about the day of Ashura:
If someone fasts on the day of Ashura, they will
be granted the spiritual reward of ten thousand
angels, ten thousand martyrs, and ten thousand
hajjis and visitants.
If someone strokes the head of an orphan with
his hand, for every hair on the orphan‟s head
Allah will promote him by one degree in the
Garden of Paradise.
If someone provides a meal to break a Muslim‟s
fast, it will be just as if the entire Ummah
(Community) of Muhammad ( صلي هللا عليه واله
had broken fast as his guests, and had ( وسلم
filled their stomachs to capacity.
If someone fasts, Allah will record in his favor
the worshipful service („ibada) of sixty years
devoted to fasting by day and keeping vigil by
night.
If someone performs the major ritual ablution
(ightasal), they will never experience any illness
apart from the sickness of death.
If someone visits a sick person, it is just as they
had visited all the children of Adam.
If someone gives a thirsty person a drink of wa-
ter, it is just as if he had never disobeyed Allah

for a single instant.
If someone treats his family (ahli-hi) with spe-
cial generosity, Allah will treat that person with
special generosity throughout the rest of the
year.
These were reported on the authority of Ibn Abbas
and other great companions.
This is an auspicious day, and we need to take ad-
vantage of it!
Rasulullah (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم) wanted us to fast on
the day of Ashura, among other things, as an honor
to Prophet Musa (Alayhis Salaam). The Jews were
fasting on that day as well; however, Rasulullah (
said that we have a greater right (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم
over our Prophet, and commanded the Muslims to
fast two days: the 10th and 9th of Muharram.
May Allah help us reap the blessings of Ashura!

The Islamic New Year has begun Alhamdulillah! It is now Muharram,
Hjri 1434. This means it has been 1434 years since our Beloved
Prophet Muhammad ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) migrated from Mecca
Mukaramah to Medinah Munawarrah Shareef. It was a beautiful start
to what would be the blossoming of Islam within a community. This
also marks the start of a new year in our lives.
We are always in a dynamic state of change. We are trying to slowly
inch ourselves closer and closer to Allah Azawajal, His Rasul ( صلي هللا
and His close ones. So this is the perfect time for us to ,( عليه واله وسلم
ask ourselves: what do we want to change about ourselves? What can
we do that will bring us closer to Allah Subahanahu wa ta‟Ala? What are some New Year‟s resolutions we
want to make that will better us in our character and conduct? We have some space below for you to write
your New Year‟s resolutions! InshAllah, you will keep this list close to your heart as your make your own
“Hijra” to Allah, your own journey to Him.
In addition, we want you to help your fellow and brother sisters out! How is that? We want to know what
your New Year resolutions are so that other people can have some good ideas on what goals they would like
to accomplish during the year. Please send us your list of resolutions to [email protected] or submit
them to us on our website: www.monthlynoor.com or our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/

Alhamdulillah, the Sunday School had a very
fun and successful Eid ul-Adha celebration on
November 4th, 2012. Everyone was requested
to wear their Eid attire. Not only that, but
many students brought in food and desserts to
share with their classes. All class periods were
shortened so that students could have a hour
lunch in the Islamic Foundation Banquet hall. Students and teachers of all grades were invited to partici-
pate in the celebration. After the students were given lunch, Dr. Raza Akbar beautifully spoke about our
beloved Nabi ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) and then lead the students in the recitation of Salawaat and Salaam.
Br. Thymur then recited some poetry written by Hadrat Hasan bin Thabit about the beauty and jalal of
Rasulullah (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم).
We at The Monthly Noor would like to thank all of the parents and staff that put in the hard work to make
the event a success and enjoyable to all the students. The Sunday School administration and the PTA
put many hours of work into this Alhamdulillah. A special thanks to Sr. Aliya Siddiqui, Br. Zia Razvi,
Sr. Saba Azeem, Sr. Nadia Khan, and Br. Aftab Khan. May Allah bless them for giving our students an
opportunity to remember the Sacrifice of Ibrahim (Alayhis Salaam) and Eid ul-Adha! Ameen!

Imam Hussain )رضي هللا عنه) is special because he is part of the Ahlul Bayt (People of
the House), and is the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad ( صلي هللا عليه واله
was born to Bibi Fatimah and (رضي هللا عنه) It is said that when Imam Hussain .(وسلم
Ali Ibn Abi Talib, the Prophet Muhammad ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) gave the Azaan in
his right ear and the Iqaamah in his left ear and made dua for him. Rasulullah ( صلي هللا
loved Imam Hussain so much that he said, “Hussain is from me, and I (عليه واله وسلم
am from Hussain. Allah befriends those who befriends Hussain, and He is the enemy
of those who bear enmity to him.” Imam Hussain‟s )رضي هللا عنه) shahadah is
significant because he sacrificed his life in the way of Allah (SWT), for Islam, and for
us. Without Imam Hussain‟s revolution, we would be represented by the Umayyad in
the minds of mankind till this present time.
Imam Hussain )رضي هللا عنه) is the second son of Ali )رضي هللا عنه) and Bibi Fatima,
and is the grandson of Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ). Imam Hussain, Imam
Hassan, Imam Ali )رضي هللا عنه) , Bibi Fatimah, and Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم )
are the Panj Tan Pak or the Ahlul Bayt. This means they are the people of the house.
Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) blessed and purified them and their descendants.
Imam Hussain is the third Holy Imam, and him and Imam Hassan will be the Imams
for the youth of paradise. Imam Hussain is also very generous. Shu‟aid bin Abdul-
Rahman is reported to have said: On the way to Taf (Battle of Karbala‟) a mark was
seen on the back of Hussain bin Ali (رضي هللا عنه). Imam Zainul-Abideen )رضي هللا عنه)
was asked about it. “It is the trace,” he replied, “of the bag which he puts on his back
carrying food to the house of the widows, orphans, and the poor.” Imam Hussain )رضي هللا عنه) was also a very
brave man. Even though he knew he would be killed, he insisted in standing his ground and starting his upris-
ing till the inevitable end.
We should love Imam Hussain )رضي هللا عنه) because it is our obligation and duty to love Prophet ( صلي هللا عليه
and his family. In Ayat-e-Muwaddah it states, “Say: I do not ask of you any reward, but love for my ( واله وسلم
near relatives (Ahlul Bayt)” (42:23). The Prophet (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم) then told the companions that it is the
Ahlul Bat they should love: Fatimah, Ali, and their two sons, and repeated this three times. Prophet Muham-
mad (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم) told the believers, “Verily, Allah has dedicated my wage (of prophethood) to love
for my Ahlul Bayt, and I shall question you about it on the Day of Judgement.” This is so important that
Rasulullah (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم) will ask us if we love his family, so do you really want to disobey and
disappoint him? Not only that, but think about how much Imam Hussain did for the Prophet ( صلي هللا عليه واله
.loved him in return ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) and how much Rasulullah ( وسلم
We should also love Imam Hussain )رضي هللا عنه) because he has taught us many things from his life: from
telling us the true way in showing love for Allah to having good qualities of a Muslim. Imam Hussain) رضي هللا
sacrificed his life for us, the least we can do is love him and follow his teachings. In my opinion, if you (عنه
do not love Imam Hussain, how can you be a good Muslim especially after Rasulullah (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم)
told us to love his Ahlul Bayt. You are directly disobeying Rasulullah‟s (صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم) orders! After all,
Imam Hussain sacrificed his life for us and Islam. If he hadn‟t sacrificed his life, we would have become a
corrupt Muslim community.
The Monthly Noor 2:02
11
Imam Hussain )رضي هللا عنه) was killed because he fought against Yazid to expose his corruption of Islam.
Imam Hussain knew he would be killed, so he wanted to be a starting point of the revolution to strengthen jus-
tice and oppose tyranny. Hussain )رضي هللا عنه) was killed because he opposed the false claims and corrupt
ways of Yazid. This helped the believers see the true colors of Yazid, ending his rule shortly thereafter. Imam
Hussain did this to help the Muslim community exit from ignorance and embrace the truth. Hussain )رضي هللا
was killed to change the world and re-shape human destiny forever. Undoubtedly, if Imam Hussain did (عنه
not sacrifice his life, our world would be different. By doing this, the message of Imam Hussain )رضي هللا عنه)
was spread through his family members and the truth of Islam could not be stopped. There are many lessons
we, as the Ummah of Rasulullah ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ), can learn from Imam Hussain‟s Shahadat.
One important lesson I‟ve learned is that it is the moral responsibility of anyone confronted with evil and in-
justice to try and speak up against the oppression they see for the triumph of good. We can also learn that one
act of sacrifice can create a huge impact just like how Imam Hussain‟s shahadat changed human history forev-
er. There is another lesson to be learned too. If you do something in the way of Allah (SWT), it will create
good and tranquility. I also learned that good always prevails over evil. Finally, we can learn that because of
Imam Hussain )رضي هللا عنه), we have a better world today. He stood up for the truth with justice.
As I finish writing this essay, I feel extreme gratitude and love towards Imam Hussain because of the sacrifice
he has made to help us. Can you believe that, even though Imam Hussain )رضي هللا عنه) knew he was going to
be killed, he still went ahead and put his full effort into stopping injustice? This is so courageous and brave; it
is just unbelievable. I would never be able to do this. Imam Hussain had great Iman, more than any of us, and
I will follow the order of Allah (SWT) and the Prophet ( صلي هللا عليه واله وسلم ) closely. I will love Allah, Imam
Hussain )رضي هللا عنه) , the Sahaba, and the Ahlul Bayt forever.
