Surah Al Mu'minun- All
Surat-un- Nur – All
Surah Al Furqan verse 1 to verse 20
Suratul Mu'minun The central theme of the surah is to invite the people to accept and follow the Message of
Rasoolullah SAS and the whole Surah revolves round this theme.
‘Umar ibn al-Khattab said: “This chapter was revealed in my presence, and I, myself, saw the condition
of the Prophet during its revelation. When the revelation was finished, the Prophet (turned to us and)
said, 'On this occasion ten verses have been sent down to me that, for the one who measures up to them,
will most surely make him enter Paradise.' Then he recited the first verses of this chapter." (Ahmad,
Tirmidhi, Nisa’i, Hakim)

Successful indeed are the believers. (1) Those who offer their Salat with all solemnity and full
submissiveness. (2) And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (evil vain talk). (3)
Success of Jannah comes with:
o Ibaadaat such as: Salaah with Khushoo’ (fear with tranquility); Zakaah;
Uprightness with their Salaah
o Mu’aamalaat such as: Turning away from Lagw (Things that do not benefit); true
to their trusts and their contracts
o Morals: Chastity;

Then We made the Nutfah into a clot, then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made
out of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth
as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators. (14)
Allah SWT changes this Nutfah from one stage to another until it emerges as an infant,
then it grows up through the stages of being a child, adolescent, youth, mature man, old
man and senile man.
It tells about the power of Allah SWT to create and design in such precision. Moreover,
He has the power to raise him up again after his death, and is capable of working even
greater wonders.
2
Then Allah SWT tells about His Ruboobiyyah (Lordship) in a series of bounties He
bestowed on man so man can recognize Him and surrender to Him alone in worship.
Prophet Noah (AS) surrenders to Allah SWT’s order to build an ark

So We inspired him (saying): "Construct the ship under Our Eyes and under Our Revelation. … (27)
As Muslims we may be asked to do something which initially may not look sensible to us
but in the end Allah SWT directs the affairs.
Nuh (AS) did not question why an ark in the middle of nowhere but he complied in the
face of mockery and insults and in the end Allah SWT’s order came. The rain began…
Surrender to Allah SWT is the key to success. Allah SWT alone has the ultimate power
and He does what He promises.
Almost all Prophets faced rejection from their people

Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they
denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as lessons. So
away with a people who believe not.(44)
Allah SWT once again mentions several Prophets that came after Nuh (AS) and each one
despite clear evidences their people are so bent on rejecting a life based on obedience
of The Creator.
In fact, not only do they reject the Message and the Messengers but they also
demanded that others reject the Messengers and follow their ways like Pharaoh.
Prophets are all One Ummah but people make groupings

This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. (52) But people
later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have. (53)
All the Messengers of Allah belonged to one and the same community because they had
the same creed and the same religion and the same message which is the call to
worship Allah Alone Tawheed of Allah SWT and The Hereafter.
But every group that breaks off think that they are correct so they rejoice.
Like The Messengers we deliver the message then do as Allah SWT says: So leave them
immersed in their heedlessness till an appointed time. (That is till wrath comes or Judgment Day) What is the problem with the message of The Qur'an?

Have they not pondered over the Word (of Allah, i.e. what is sent down to the Prophet SAW), or has
there come to them what had not come to their fathers of old? (68) Or is it that they did not recognize
their Messenger (Muhammad SAW) so they deny him?
People deny The Qur'an without even reading it. It is in a simple language, easy to
comprehend but most people reject because their forefathers never read it.
3
Rasoolullah SAS was from among the same Quraish who used to give him the best of
titles like Saadiq-ul—Ameen (the truthful one, the honest one) but when he presented
the concept of Tawheed, Risaalah and Aakhirah they began the worse propaganda
against him. There was no end; accusation after accusation, names after names.
Deep within people recognize The Creator but they don’t want to take His Orders

Man wants to follow his desires and reject a systematic structured life based on laws of
God better known as Shari'ah. In fact every nation makes the Shari'ah appear like the
most offensive thing that has ever happened. Whereas every Prophet was given a code
of law or Shari'ah to follow.

(O Muhammad) repel evil with that which is best: We are fully aware of what they utter against you
In delivering this message we must follow what Allah SWT says and that is to repel evil
with good. No way should one become aggressive and use force against anyone who
rejects this message.
Finally make Du'a to Allah SWT for forgiveness and mercy.
Surat-un Nur This Surah tells how easy Fitnah can spread even with the best of the Ummah. Do not be
the one to spread inaccurate information especially when it comes to one’s honor. It
talks about the slander of Aisha (RA). This happened when Rasoolullah SAS was
returning from the battle of Muraysee’ (Bani al Mustaliq).
It deals with some Aadaab of societal life.

This is a Surah which We have sent down and We have made it mandatory, and We have sent down
clear Commandments in it so that you may learn lessons. (1)
The clear laws that are given pertain to the individuals and society and they include:
o Fornication/ Adultery and who can they marry and their witnessing- Zina -زنا
o Slandering chaste women- Qazf – قذف or إفك
o Accusation of one’s wife or Li’aan ناللعا
Allah SWT exonerates Umm-ul Mo’mineen Aisha (RA) and admonishes the slanderers

Those who have invented the slander, are some of your own people. You should not, however, regard
this matter as evil for it has good in it for you. Whoso took any part in this, he earned his share of the sin
accordingly, and the one, who had the greatest share of responsibility in it, shall have a terrible
punishment.(11)
This is referring to the slander against Aisha (RA) which began with the head of the
hypocrites; Abdullah Bin Ubay Bin Salool.
Allah has Himself described it as Ifk (false accusation) which implies its total refutation.
Allah SWT admonishes people why don’t they think good about their fellow Muslims
when they hear some strange rumor. Why do they instantly accept false rumors without
proof? What they need to say: بي مك افاذ This is an obvious falsehood"? (12)“ ه

As for those, who like that indecency should spread among the Believers, they deserve a painful
punishment in this world and in the Hereafter, for Allah knows and you do not know.
Allah SWT constantly reminded of His mercy and compassion other than that the
consequences would have been very severe. To slander chaste women is one of the
seven deadly sins.
The Believers are warned of not to follow Shaitaan and not take fun in false accusations
and slanders of innocent women.

O you who have believed, do not enter houses other than your own houses until you ascertain welcome
and greet their inhabitants. That is best for you; perhaps you will be reminded. (27)
Here we are to address the root cause of indecent relationship and that is we do not
barge into someone’s house without permission. Proper permission should be granted.
One should seek permission three times, and if permission is given, (he may enter),
otherwise he should go away. The etiquette of greeting must be adhered to.

Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for
them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.(30) And tell the believing women to reduce [some]
of their vision and guard their private parts…

This is another way of dealing with problems at the root cause and it begins with looking
and staring at the opposite gender.
One of the Companions asked Rasoolullah SAS: What should I do if I happen to cast a chance
look? The Prophet (SAS) replied: Turn your eyes away or lower your gaze. (Muslim, Ahmad)
Then to help individuals deal with their emotional struggles, Allah SWT prescribes
marriage. The Masaajid are for Zhikr of Allah SWT

[Such niches are] in mosques which Allah has ordered to be raised and that His name be mentioned
therein; exalting Him within them in the morning and the evenings (36)
The Masaajid are the houses of Allah SWT where He Alone is worshipped. Hence Zhikr
of Allah SWT is the main purpose. Allah has commanded that they be established and that they be kept clean of any
physical filth, idle talk or words or deeds that are inappropriate. There are many virtues concerning the construction of Masjids, honoring them,
respecting them, and make them smell pleasant etc. True Believers accept when they are told this is from and or His Rasool

The only statement of the [true] believers when they are called to Allah and His Messenger to judge
between them is that they say, "We hear and we obey." And those are the successful.(51)
Surrendering to Allah SWT’s command is the way of true Believers. There are many
stories of Prophets and great people about whom Allah SWT mentions how they
surrendered to Him without questioning Him. This is Islam: “Hear and obey”.
Allah SWT describes such noble quality by saying:

Those who obey Allah and His Messenger and fear Him and avoid disobeying Him: such, indeed,

Believers will inherit authority by fulfilling these and other conditions such as firm belief
in Tawheed of Allah SWT, the establishment of Salaah and Zakaah.

And when the children among you reach puberty, let them ask permission [at all times] as those before
them have done. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses; and Allah is Knowing and Wise. (59)
One’s privacy is essential in building respect in the family. There are times when mature
children should seek permission before entering the chambers of their parents.
Those with disabilities are allowed to join others with their meals as so are the relatives
that are mentioned. No formal invitation or permission is needed to have the meals at
6
their houses. In the absence of the master, if his wife or children offer something, it can
be taken without hesitation.
Rasoolullah SAS said: When any of you joins a gathering, let him say Salam, and when he
wants to leave, let him say Salam. The former is not more important than the latter The Aadaab of addressing Rasoolullah SAS

First the Companions used to say: `O Muhammad,' or `O Abu Al-Qasim,' but Allah forbade them to do that, as a sign of respect towards His Prophet, and told them to say, `O Prophet of Allah,' or `O Messenger of Allah’.
Surat-ul Furqan The Surah deals with the doubts and objections that were being raised against the Qur'an, the
Prophethood of Muhammad (SAS) and his teachings by the disbelievers of Makkah.
The Qur'an is the word of Allah SWT that determines what is right and what is wrong

Blessed be He Who sent down the criterion (of right and wrong, i.e. this Quran) to His slave (Muhammad
SAW) that he may be a warner to the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). (1)
All Prophets were sent to specific people but Rasoolullah SAS was sent to all of mankind
and jinns.
The Quran has been called Al-Furqan because it is the Criterion for judging right and
wrong virtue and vice, truth and falsehood.

Yet the people have set up, besides Him, deities, who do not create anything but are themselves created
who can neither harm nor help even themselves: who have no power over life or death, nor can they
raise up the dead.
Allah SWT is All-Powerful and nothing in His moves except by His power and permission.
On the other hand, idols do have ability to give life or death, or bring about benefit or
harm. Therefore, worship The All- Powerful and leave aside the one that has no power.
What makes this so absurd is the fact that what they worship cannot create whether
they are angels, jinns, Prophets, saints, the sun, the moon, the stars, trees, rivers,
animals etc., which have been created by Allah, or those which have been created by
man, as the idols of stone, wood, etc.

Those who disbelieve say: "This (the Quran) is nothing but a lie that he (Muhammad SAW) has invented,
and others have helped him at it, so that they have produced an unjust wrong (thing) and a lie." (4)
7
The attack on Allah SWT’s message has been as old as the message itself. There is no
evidence to prove their point; no argument has been put forward to refute this charge
except a mere denial and their own whims and fancies.
The fact is no one ever said that Muhammad (SAS) as a boy had met Buhairah, the
monk, and had attained religious knowledge from him, nor did anybody claim that he
had obtained all that information from the Christian monks and Jewish rabbis during the
trade journeys in his youth.
Furthermore, they attacked Rasoolullah SAS not anything of his character but the fact
that he eats and goes to the market. Or why wasn’t he given some material treasure
and he is bewitched.
They bring no sound argument to prove their doctrine of shirk, or to refute the doctrine
of Tawheed put forward by Rasoolullah SAS and all they can conclude is: He is
bewitched.
