World no tobacco day, an�narco�c day and world environment day were the important days celebrated this month. Thank you all for enthusias�cally par�cipa�ng in these day celebra�ons.

Dermaped and Kidneycon were the major 2 sub speciality conferences. I appreciate the organisers enthusiasm and efficiency in organising these events and also the dedica�on of the delegates. Our president elect Dr Narayanan has showed his sincerity and organisa�onal poten�al in implemen�ng membership drive and its intelligent goal se�ng and foolproof execu�on. Congratula�ons!!!

Immunisa�on CME in various branches apart from their regular mee�ngs were another a�rac�on of June.

I should specially appreciate " Child friendly police sta�on " Ini�a�ve of IAP Kannur and their dedica�on for its sustainability. Congratula�ons team Kannur.

Dear seniors and friends,

Warm gree�ngs from State IAP office…

We have reached half way through with the release of 7�� edi�on of IAP TODAY. It's almost turmoil with regard to this magazine release and we will be releasing July edi�on (June branch reports) and August edi�on together (July reports). MID zone coordinators Dr Nisha N and Dr Manu has been do-ing wonderful work with prompt release of mid zone report by first week of every month. Dr Renjith in addi�on to his work of website and face book also is doing well as the north zone coordi-nator. But a few of the branches from North and South are not promptly giving the reports causing the undue delay of the release of the e-magazine.

The DERMAPED at Ko�ayam on June 2ⁿ� was excellently organized by Dr Harikumar G and Dr Sunu the old war horses of Ko�ayam with excellent topic selec�on and faculty. Dr Nousheed the chapter secretary also coordinated well. IAP Kerala could release the IAP DIGEST of this year along with the conference. 750 Digest has been printed so that we could give to all the ac�ve members in our state. Reques�ng all our members to ask for the Digest from the branch secretary.

World Enviornment day was observed by some of the branches on June 5�� and the MONSOON DISEASE awareness classes to our members was done by almost all branches as per the request from our respected DHS.

We had our KIDNEYCON at Kozhikode on June 16thwell organized by Dr Krishnan C and Dr Rahul I. One special aspect of team Kozhikode is that they find different organizing team for each confer-ence especially the youngsters. The first IPCL cricket tournament on turf was excellently organized by Nihaz, Vishnu and Renjith team along with Kidneycon which will be remembered for long. Congratula�ons to Team Kozhikode and Trivandrum for being the champions.

The Immuniza�on CMEs as part of the PAP doing well with around 16 branches comple�ng it. The first contact class of the 3�� Online Module for doctors by NNF team at Thrissur on June 23�� was well organized and represented by IAP members in good numbers. The SGM at Mumbai was a�ended by a team from our state even though we could not a�end because of the Kidneycon.

The last programme of the month was the Vamping BFHIstake holder's meet organized by IAP Trivandrum to finalize the module on June 30th.

1. Society was launched in March 2011 - to offer substan�al financial support to the bereaved families of an IAP life member, who has joined FBS.

2. Currently, the benefit amount is 7.6 lakhs to its 2210 members. As more life members of CIAP join FBS, the benefit figure increases. The DEATH BENEFIT figure is a mul�ple of Rs. 350 and the number of exis�ng alive members in FBS, at the �me of a member's death.

3. Family benefit is expected to cross NINE lakhs by end of 2020. Finally, by year 2030, we aim at a disbursement amount of Fi�een lakhs. Family's benefit is fully secure, irrespec�ve of the Cause of Death - natural, accidental or suicide.

4. Currently, the age-group eligible to join FBS is 25 - 60 years. Admission fees varies from 9,000 at lower age to 46,000 when age reaches 60.

5. A�er admission, all the FBS members ARE AT PAR, in all aspects.

6. All members are billed an annual FC bill, generated in considera�on of number of deceased FBS members in the previous year.

7. The annual bills in the last 7 years have been Rs3200 as maximum.

8. Annual bills have to be paid for maximum 25 years a�er admission, OR �ll the member survives - whichever is LESS.

9. The benefit to the families of FBS members (beginning a�er one full year of incuba�on period) is available �ll your LAST BREATH. No fixed Insurance tenure, alike LIC policies. # Incredible feature, unique of FBS #

10. Basic theme of FBS : During your life�me, you regularly contribute a small amount of money towards your deceased FBS colleagues (via the annual FC bill). Your family is equally assured of a similar but larger benefit in future, when you are no more.

Time : 8.30 am to 1.30 pm

Immuniza�on CME was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. T.U Sukumaran and Dr. Elizabeth welcomed everyone. Prof. Dr.Latha S, Dr. Sunil Raj, Prof.Dr. Girija Mohan, Prof. Dr. P Jayashree, Prof. Dr.Sairu Philip and Dr. Jijo Joseph John dealt with various sessions which covered from basics to all the different aspects of individual vaccines and AEFI.

Around 30 pediatricians from both private and public sector par�cipated and took part in ac�ve ques�oning to clear their doubts. Dr.Reny Gee Varghese said the vote of thanks. It was a very informa�ve program for all.

We observed NO TOBACCO DAY at Taluk Hospital kayamkulam one 1�� of june. Dr L manoj, Supt inagurated the program. Awareness class taken by Dr Sreeprasad, secretary IAP Kerala. Around 35 members par�cipated including doctors. Mrs Sheela nursing Supt. expressed vote of thanks.

On june 5 the secretary Dr Sreeprasad led another ac�vity, about intensified diarrhea control program at CHC Muthukulam. Paramedics, public health workers, doctors of PHC & CHC a�ended. Awareness program inagurated by Dr Thanuja, civil surgeon. A special class on Nipah virus also done by Dr Manu Prabhakaran. Vote of thanks by health supervisor Sainudheen.

7. On June 13��: CME CONDUCTED: We conducted a CME at Tast Mantra, Kunnamkulam. Pedodon�st Dr. Sunil Muhammed gave a talk on Common Dental Problems in Children.

6. X ray Quiz: During the GB mee�ng Dr. Saju P K c o n d u c t e d a n X- R a y q u i z . I t w a s o f Achondroplasia.

8. On June 13��: X ray quiz: An X ray quiz was conducted during the CME at Taste Mantra, Kunnamkulam. It was a case of Poland Syndrome.

5. On June 7��: We conduted our monthly General Body mee�ng at El ite Hotel, Thrissur. P ro f. D r. I n d u d h a ra n gav e a t a l k o n Management of Infan�le Airway.

10. Monsoon Disease Programs We conducted Monsoon Disease awareness

programs at 3 different loca�ons.

a) On June 19��: An awareness class was taken by Dr. Saju P K at Ansar Hospital Perumpilavu to the staff Nurses.

b) The 2ⁿ� program was on 23�� June at Nallankara. Dr. V K Parvathi concducted 3 programs.

9. On 17�� June 2019: Educa�onal Mo�va�on program to help the students improve their grades was conducted at Al Ameen School, Karikkad. We had prepared a power point presenta�on on the same, both in Malayam and in English. We are planning to conduct more of such programs in other schools also.

c) The 3rdprogram was on June 30��, at Choondal. An awareness class was taken by Dr. Saju P K to the people of Choondal. The pamphlet was also distributed by Dr. Rajagopal.

An awareness class was conducted for the public.

A medical camp was also conducted on the same occasion.

A pamphlet on Monsoon Diseases prepared by IAP Thrissur was released on the occasion.

13. June 21��: We conducted an Execu�ve Mee�ng to review the organiza�onal ma�ers of Summer Pedicon.

14. NNF WORKSHOP: On June 23�� 2019: NNF Thrissur and IAP Thrissur conducted a Neonatology first contact workshop at Dass Con�nental Thrissur. The program was i n a u g u ra te d b y I M A S ta te P re s i d e n t Dr. M E Sugathan.

1. Monthly mee�ng cum CME was conducted for the branch members on 12.6.2019. Dr. Veena, Dermatologist, St. Josephs Hospital gave a talk on Pediatric dermatoses. CME was well a�ended by the members. Dr. M A Thomas Sr. Pediatrician gave a memento to the speaker.

2. CME on Immunisa�on, a programme under IAP Kerala State presidents Ac�on plan 2019, was conducted for branch members and other local doctors, on June 23, along with IMA Madhya Kerala, Perumbavoor and N.Paravoor branches. 04.06.19

Al-Azhar Medical college in associa�on with IAP Malanad conducted a NIPAH awareness programme for interns, nurses and paramedics on 04.06.19 in view of impending Nipah viral infec�on near Thodupuzha. Classes were taken by Dr. Gopinadhan K M, HOD, Dept of Pediatrics and Dr. Rehna T, Assistant Professor. Around 40 people a�ended. Doubts clearing session was also conducted.

A detai led and enl ightening c lass on the neurosurgical interven�ons in children was given by Dr. Gopalakrishnan from AsterMedicity. Session was chaired by Dr. Samuel, Paediatric Surgeon from MOSC Medical college, Kolencherry. Speaker was given momento by Dr. Sister Annie.

Our sixth IAP GB mee�ng was held on 04.06.19 at IMA Blood Bank Hall, Thodupuzha.

The mee�ng was called to order by our president, Dr. P C George at 8.30 pm.

A�er the silent prayer, Sister Dr.Jacob Varghese welcomed the gathering. Dr. Rehna, IAP Secretary presented the minutes of the last mee�ng in April.

It was followed by the Presiden�al address by Dr. P C Georgesir. We had a small discussion regarding our upcoming BLS course on June 9, 2019.

Programme 3 IDCF 2019

Al-Azhar Medical College in associa�on with IAP Malanad celebrated the IDCF 2019 on 03.06.19.

Awareness classes on Diarrhoea, its e�ology, treatment and preven�ve measures was conducted for the nurses. The correct steps in making Oral Rehydra�on Solu�on was demonstrated to the nurses. The steps of hand washing were also demonstrated and the nurses and a few nurses were asked to enact it for reinforcement.

In view of Nipah infec�on, a class on the disease and its preven�on measures was taken by Dr. Rehna T, Assistant Professor, Al-Azhar Medical College. It was followed by a summarising class on Nipah infec�on by Dr. George Noble, Professor, MOSC Medical College, Kolecherry.

A short discussion regarding the preven�ve measures being undertaken in various hospitals was moderated by Dr. Jacob Varghese, Consultant Pediatrician, St. Mary's Hosp�al, Thodupuzha.

Vote of thanks as given by our treasurer Dr. SisterAsha Maria. Thirty three members a�ended the programme.

Mee�ng was followed by fellowship and dinner.

IAP MALANAD

There was a wri�en test where we need to score minimum 84% marks.Evalua�on skill sta�ons were conducted a�er the lunch. It was followed by cer�ficate distribu�on.

IAP Malanad organised aIAP - BLS course for HCPs (Provider level) at IMA Blood Hall, Thodupuzha on 09.06.19. The programme started with a tradi�onal lamp ligh�ng ceremony by our dear Dr. P C George IAP Malanad President, Dr. Abhiram and a delegate.

BLS team comprising of Dr. Abhiram, Dr. Janaki Menon, Dr. Deepa and Dr. Nithya led the show. There were 39 par�cipants. Adult CPR,Child CPR and infant CPR were demonstrated. Hands on training were given to all par�cipants. It was followed by a class on management of a choking vic�m.

Facul�es were given momentos as a small token of our gra�tude.

It was very nice learning experience. The feedback from par�cipants were also great. The programme got over by 3.30 pm.

Renal Replacement Therapy Workshop KIDNEYCON

*Renal replacement therapy workshop* was conducted in Baby Memorial Hospital on 15/6/19 as part of *KIDNEYCON 2019*. Dr Sahasranam, Chief of Medical Services BMH was the chief guest and felicita�ons were given by Dr Thomas Mathew (HOD Nephrology BMH), Dr C K Sasidharan (Senior consultant BMH), Dr Radhika C R (Secretary, IAP Kerala Pediatric Nephrology Chapter), Dr Krishnan C (Organising Chairperson, Kidneycon) and vote of thanks was given by Dr Nihaz Naha (IAP Calicut, Secretary).

It was well a�ended by 33 delegates and had a frui�ul interac�ve sessions followed by hands-on workshop on peritoneal dialysis, CRRT and Hemodialysis. Workshop sessions were followed by an interes�ng online quiz (Kahoot) in which all the delegates ac�vely par�cipated and was won by Dr Manjusha (IMCH) followed by Dr Aneeta and Dr Fiji and was given exci�ng prizes.

Cri�cal Care Nephrolgy workshop was conducted in Aster MIMS Hospital on 15/6/19 as part of KIDNEYCON 2019. Mr. Sameer, Chief Opera�ng Officer, Aster MIMS was the chief guest and inaugurated the workshop.

05-06-2019: IAP Kanhangad planted 80 assorted saplings along the perimeter off stadium of GHS school, Hosdurg,Kanhangad on world Environment day.Dr SureshanV, Dr K C Ramchandran, Dr Abhilash V and Dr T V Padmanabhan conducted the plan�ng, assisted by forty volunteers from NAPT.

This is the ground, IAP Kanhangad protected for children through a historic PIL. The maintenance of the flora will be done by IAP Kanhangad.

On behalf of IAP Kanhangad President Dr V Sureshan, Past President Dr T V Padmanabhan and Dr K C Ramchandran planted the saplings at proposed site of IMA House, Kanhangad.

13-06-2019: IAP Kanhangad conducted monthly GBM & CME on 13-06-2019 at Bekal Club, Padnakkad. Dr Sureshan V welcomed the members and introduced the guest speaker of the day Dr Ravindran V, Consultant Pulmonologist, Kanhangad. Dr Ravindran spoke on Pediatric Asthma. 16-06-2019: Dr T V Padmanabhan, Past Vice President IAP Kerala and Immediate Past President, IAP Kanhangad, was honoured and felicitated at REHABCON, state confer-ence of IAPMR Kerala, at Bolga�y Palace, Kochi on 16-06-2019.

This was in apprecia�on of his relentless and successful effort to stop independent prac�ce by physiotherapists using "Dr" �tle.

23-06-2019:IAP Kanhangad organised CME on Immunisa�on under Presiden�al Ac�on Plan 2019 PIVOT at Nalanda Resort, Nileshwaram on 23-06-2019. Dr V Sureshan, President welcomed the members and faculty. Dr Mohammed M T P inaugurated the func�on. The faculty included Dr Mohan Das Nair, Dr Mohammed M T P, Dr Geetha Govindraj and Dr T V Padmanabhan.

The topics covered were Basics of Immunisa�on, Immunisa�on schedule and Pneumococcal Vaccine by Dr Mohan Das Nair; AEFI by Dr Mohammed M T P; Adolescent Immunisa�on by Dr Geetha Govindraj and Immunisa�on in Special Circumstances.

It was a very informa�ve and interac�ve CME and was well a�ended. Dr Praveen Arora, Secretary delivered vote of thanks.
