– Original Miele FilterBag

– Motor protection filter

– Original Miele exhaust filter

These will need to be replaced fromtime to time to ensure that your vacuumcleaner performs efficiently.

We recommend only using genuineFilterBags, filters, and accessorieswith the “Original Miele” logo onthem. This will ensure that the suc-tion power of the vacuum cleaner ismaintained, giving the best possiblecleaning results.FilterBags with the “Original Miele”logo on them are not made from pa-per or paper-based materials and nordo they have a cardboard collar. Thisis why our FilterBags are particularlylong-lasting and reliable. Please note that appliance faults anddamage originating from the use ofaccessories which do not carry the“Original Miele” logo will not be cov-ered by the appliance guarantee.

Purchasing new FilterBags and filters

Original Miele FilterBags and filters areavailable from the Miele web store,Miele Technical Service, and your Mieledealer.

Ordering the correct FilterBags andfilters

Only use original Miele GN FilterBagswith a blue collar and original Miele fil-ters. These are identified by the “ORIGI-NAL Miele” logo on the packaging.

Every packet of original Miele FilterBagscontains four bags, one AirClean ex-haust filter, and one motor protection fil-ter. Original Miele multipacks contain 16FilterBags, four AirClean exhaust filters, and four motor protection filters.

Original Miele exhaust filters can alsobe purchased separately from yourMiele dealer or Miele Technical Service. Please quote the model number of yourvacuum cleaner when ordering to makesure you get the correct filter. You canalso order all accessories via the Mieleweb store.

Change the FilterBag when the colormarker in the FilterBag change indicatorturns red.

FilterBags are disposable and in-tended to be used only once. Dis-pose of the entire FilterBag. Do notattempt to re-use. Blocked pores re-duce the efficiency of the vacuumcleaner.

Switch the vacuum cleaner on andselect the highest power setting.

Lift the floor brush off the floor a little.

18

How the FilterBag change indicatorworks

The FilterBag change indicator is set fornormal household dust. This generallycontains a mixture of dust, hair, threads, carpet lint, grit, etc.

However, if the cleaner has been usedto vacuum up fine dust, such as plaster, brick dust, cement or flour, the pores ofthe FilterBag will become blocked veryquickly. This affects the air permeability of thebag, and the marker will indicate thatthe bag is “full” even when it is not. Ifthis happens you must still change theFilterBag because suction power will begreatly reduced by blocked pores in theFilterBag.

If, on the other hand, a large amount ofhair and carpet lint which typically con-tains a lot of air is vacuumed up, the in-dicator may fail to react even thoughthe bag is full. You should still change it.Both these extremes can occur.

How to replace the FilterBag (Fig. 25)

Press both release buttons at the sideof the hose connector, and lift thehose from the socket (Fig. 01).

Pull the release catch for the dustcompartment lid upwards and openthe lid as far as it will go (Fig. 08).

The FilterBag has a flap which closesautomatically when the dust compart-ment lid is raised to prevent any dustescaping.

Pull the FilterBag out by the grip onthe collar.

Fit the new FilterBag into the holderas far as it will go. Leave it folded upwhen you take it out of the box.

Close the dust compartment lid se-curely, making sure it clicks into posi-tion. Take care not to trap the Fil-terBag when doing so.

An empty operation lock preventsthe dust compartment lid from clos-ing without a FilterBag in place. Donot use force!

Insert the hose connector into thesuction socket on the vacuumcleaner until it clicks into posi-tion (Fig. 01).

When to change the motor protectionfilter

Replace this filter every time you start anew packet of filter bags.Every packet of original Miele filter bagscontains a motor protection filter. Multi-packs contain four motor protection fil-ters.

How to change the motor protectionfilter (Fig. 26)

Frequently Asked QuestionsWith the help of the following guide minor faults in the performance of the ma-chine, some of which may result from incorrect operation, can be remedied with-out contacting the Service Department.

This guide may help you to find the reason for the fault, and how to correct it.

Problem Possible cause and solution

The vacuum cleanerturns off automatically.

A temperature limiter turns the vacuum cleaner off au-tomatically if it gets too hot. This can occur if, for instance, large articles block thewand or when the FilterBag is full or contains parti-cles of fine dust. A heavily soiled exhaust or dustcompartment filter can also be the cause of overheat-ing. Turn the vacuum cleaner off immediately using the

On/Off foot switch , and unplug it.

After removing the cause, wait for approximately 20 -30 minutes to allow the vacuum cleaner to cool down.It can then be turned on again.
