proposed to be utilied to develop full potential "anjoin "tream.
n the basis of the dischare measurement data available2 it is seen that it is possible to exploit dischare
and natural head to enerate *=++ @< of poer at economical cost. /he increase in installed capacity from

/he purpose of the project activity is to enerate electricity by usin the reneable hydraulic resources to
meet the ever7increasin demand for enery in the northern reion. /he development of the project activity

approval uidelines'for CDM projects.
/he main purpose of the project activity is to enerate electrical enery throuh sustainable means ithout
causin neative impact on the environment and to contribute to the climate chane mitiation efforts.
Apart from the eneration of electrical poer2 the project also contributes to the folloin&

road at present. /he poerhouse site is located near villae Bararan on the riht ban# of "anjoin nala
before its confluence ith Beas 4iver.
/he area around the project site is larely covered ith overburden in the riverbed and adjoinin terraces.verburden consists of deep fill of ravine sediments hereas hill slopes are covered ith slope ash
material. /he riverine terraces are mostly used as aricultural land. 4oc# outcrops are scanty. ;oever2
the hill slopes around the proposed project are stable and the area is conductive for constructin a small
hydropoer scheme on eoloical considerations.

for the :orthern Grid. /he private investors2 due to apparent advantaes of assured return on investment2
economies of scale and easy availability of finances are attracted toards the lare and medium fossil fuel
based projects and hence hydropoer is huely inored. /he trend is evident from a host of planned
projects that comprises mostly lare7scale fossil fuel based poer eneration projects.
