All patients recovered spontaneously within 24 hours and 1 patient reported a similar event when octreotide therapy had been previously stopped suddenly. All 4 patients had developed biliary calculi. ’These four cases of biliary colic point to a possible adverse effect of rebound gallbladder hypercontractility occurring about 12 hours after abrupt cessation of octreotide.’ James RA, et al.
