Hartland LEGACY Alternative Education:Working to develop a community of learners who are prepared to live, work and contribute to an ever-changing society and world.

What is LEGACY? LEGACY has been in existence for more than 30 years. The program’s primary focus, demonstrated by its acronym Let’s Educate, Gradu-ate and Care for our Youth, remains constant in this ever changing educational environment. LEGACY offers students an alternative method for earning their high school diplo-mas. Class sizes are small, with a 20 to 1 student/teacher ratio. Teachers are able to meet students individual academic needs. Core academics are enhanced by instruction and support of other key areas including: healthy choices, parenting, substance abuse awareness and career planning. The program boasts on-site counseling, group support, academic tutor-ing and planning for successful futures. Who attends LEGACY? Students who attend LEGACY care about their education. They work hard at academics and choose to get involved in their school com-munity and community-at-large. Some of the students are looking for a second chance or a different way to learn. When are classes? Students attends classes daily, on a reduced-hour schedule following a traditional school calendar. Time away from the classroom allows for greater involvement in career planning, work experience and community volunteerism. Online classes provide non-traditional course options while still earning high school credit Need more information? Please call Principal, Nicole Conley at 810.626.2140.

Hartland Virtual Academy

Who should consider virtual learning? Seat time waivers are designed for stu-dents who are interested in working on their high school graduation requirements on-line. The completion of an individualized seat time waiver educational plan will earn students a high school diploma. Why take advantage of this opportunity? Completing high school through a seat time waiver program affords high school students the opportunity to adjust their optimal learning times around other factors that can distract them from be-ing successful in the traditional learning environment. Students are assigned an adult mentor to help them focus on the established learning outcomes. Plus, the curriculum covers State of Michigan high school standards designed to prepare students for college or a career upon graduation. Also, students may be able to enroll in partial seat time waiver and regular high school classes at the same time. How do I learn more about this wonderful opportunity? Students or parents should contact their current Hartland High School Counselor or Nicole Conley, Principal, at 810.626.2140 to find out more about our on-line virtual high school opportunities.

Please come and visit our center to see all the activity. Call the office at 810.626.2780 or e-mail [email protected] or amyrollins@ hartlandschools.us.

Fall 2019 pg 9Introductory Gymnastics

Plan a birthday party of field trip to Intro Gym! For more information or to reserve a date contact your child’s gymnas-tics instructor or Hartland Community Ed at 810-626-2150

Little Monkeys Open Intro Gym at HESSCInstructor: Jan Doke

Offered every Monday from 12:15–1 PM from Sept. 9th through Dec. 16th. Drop-in fee is $10 per child.

Hartland Gymnastics is excited to offer a preschool play time. Little Monkeys play time is an opportunity for children walking to six years old to explore by playing in a safe, kid friendly environment. At these ages, learning is best done through play. Parents/Adult Chaperones assist as their little monkeys explore different surfaces, textures, colors, shapes, and obstacles in a fun, safe environment. Active adult participation is required so all the “Little Monkeys” can play and learn in a safe environment. A current waiver must be on file to participate.

To Avoid Disappointment, Register EARLY for Classes. Minimums and maximums exist. Many classes need a minimum amount of students met for the class to run. Classes that have not met that minimum by a certain date may have to be canceled!

Fall Intro Gymnastics at HESSC11 Week classes will run from Sept. 9–13 to Nov. 18–22(Please note there are no classes the evening of Halloween.)
