    Wall mounting

    (see figure)

    Once the connecting leadshave been connected, you canmount the telephone on thewall: Drill two dowel holes

    (5mm) 110mm apart,insert dowels and screw in

    countersunk head woodscrews with a slight gap tothe wall.

    On underside of tele-phone: Lift out handsetbracket with screwdriver.

    Clip handset bracket intohandset shell mounting.

    Hang telephone on pro-jecting screw heads.

    Safety precautions

    When installing, connecting

    and operating the telephone,always observe the followingprecautions: Only use the jacks and

    leads supplied. Only connect the connect-

    ing lead to the intendedsocket.

    Only connect approvedaccessories.

    Lay the connecting leadwhere it will not causeaccidents.

    Position the telephone ona non-slip surface.

    For your safety and protec-tion, the telephone maynot be used in the bath orshower rooms (wet loca-tions). The telephone isnot splash proof.

    Never expose the tele-phone to sources of heat,direct sunlight or otherelectrical devices.

    Protect your telephonefrom moisture, dust, cor-rosive liquids and vapours.

    Never open up the tele-phone yourself. Do not touch the plug con-

    tact with pointed or metal-lic objects.

    Do not carry the telephoneby the leads.

    If you give your telephoneto someone else, makesure you also give themthe operating manual.

    Setting up thetelephone for use

    Recommendedinstallation of telephone

    Do not expose the tele-phone to direct sunlight orother sources of heat.

    Operate at temperaturesof between +5C and+40C.

    Maintain a distance of atleast one metre betweenthe telephone and radioequipment, e.g. radio tele-phones, radio pagingequipment or TV sets.Otherwise, telephonecommunication could beimpaired.

    Do not install the tele-phone in dusty rooms as

    this can limit the servicelife of the telephone.

    Furniture lacquer andpolish can be adverselyaffected by contact withparts of the unit (e.g.feet).

    Adjusting thetelephone

    Setting the handsetvolumeThe handset volume can beset to 2 levels.E Press Handset vol-

    MuteYou can deactivate the tele-phone's microphone.During a call:J Press mute key.To reactivate microphone:Press the mute key again.

    Setting the ringerYou can set the ringer fre-quency and volume to 9 levels(factory default: level 6) orturn it off.c? Lift the handset,

    Operation on a PABX

    Special functions/RecallkeyDuring an external call, youcan make an enquiry or for-ward the call. To do this, pressthe recall key>. Thesubsequent proceduredepends on your PABX.By default, the recall key is setto flash time 1 (pulse/toneswitch in "Tone 1" position).For connection to a PABX, itmay be necessary to changethe flash time (e.g. pulse/toneswitch to "Tone 2"). To do this,please refer to the operatinginstructions for your PABX.

    Changing the diallingmodeBy default, your telephone isset to tone dialling mode(Tone 1). Depending on thedialling mode of your PABX,you may need to set the tele-phone to pulse dialling (DP).

    To use functions that requireDTMF (e.g. remote control ofanswering machine), you canset the telephone to DTMF forthe duration of the call with-out adjusting the switch.After the connection is estab-

    Operation on publictelephone systems

    Public telephone systems - insome cases by special order/request offer you a range ofuseful additional services (e.g.call divert, call back on busy,three-party conference etc.).These services can be selectedusing specified keycombinations, which your net-work provider will notify youof.You can save the entire keycombination, including thenumber of a fixed call divert

    Recall keyIn public telephone systems,the recall key is required to usecertain additional services;e.g. for "Call back on busy".By default, your telephone isset to tone dialling with a flash

    time of 100 ms (Tone 1). Youmay need to adjust the flashtime using the slide switch onthe underside of thetelephone.

    CareTo clean, wipe with a moist orantistatic cloth only, neverwith a dry cloth (risk of elec-trostatic charging anddischarge) or strong cleaningagent.

    If your telephone is not

    working perfectlyLift handset, no diallingtone: Is the connecting leadcorrectly plugged into the tel-ephone and the telephonesocket?Dialling tone audible but tel-ephone will not dial: Theconnection is OK. Is the dial-ling mode set correctly?The other party cannot hearyou: Mute activated?Regular pulse noises can beheard during a call: Theconnection is receiving meter-ing pulses from the exchange,which the telephone cannotinterpret.
