Parchment paper, also called professional bakers paper, is

available through bakeries and most grocery stores and canbe run through toner-based (laser) printers and copiers.

You can use each side of the paper twice before discarding

as long as you dont cut out the individual images from the

sheet. Parchment paper wont work with all printers and

    copiers, so experiment.

1 | Make a toner-based photocopyon parchment paper of the image

or images you want to transfer. You

can also print in color with a toner-

    based printer and transfer color

    imagery. (If necessary, tape the

parchment paper to a base sheet

of plain copy paper so it will run

    through the printer successfully. On

my printer, I run a single sheet of

    parchment using the manual feed.

After printing an image, run a plain

sheet of paper through the printer

to clean it before moving on to the

    next sheet of parchment.) Place

    the parchment paper, image side

    down, on your smooth encaustic

surface. Rub the image with a

    burnishing toolto transfer the

    image to the surface.

    2 | Repeat with a second imageifdesired. I added a color image.

3 | Lightly fusethe image so thetoner will become encapsulated in

    the wax.

4 |After fusing, allow the surfaceto cool. Apply a thin coat of

    transparent encaustic paintor

    encaustic medium to protect the

    image.
