Annie Sfafner Annie Stainer kreeg haar dansopleiding aan The Lon­don School of Contempo­rary Dance en haar mime-opleiding b i j Etienne De-croux i n P a r i j s . Twee jaar maakte z i j deel u i t van de Lindsay Kemp Mime Company en trad op met David Bowie tijdens de Ziggie Stardust konserten i n het Rainbow Theatre in London. Met haar solo-programma dat ze sinds enkele jaren heeft, maakte ze een suksesvolle toernee door de V.S. en won daar "The Gold Cup" t i j d e n s het j a a r l i j k s te-rugkerende Gri t e Clowns F e s t i v a l . Moon ging i n 1975 in premiere i n de Traverse Theatre tijdens het Edinburgh F e s t i v a l . B i j die gelegenheid kreeg z i j de onderscheiding "Scotsman Fringe Award".

Z i j n optreden i s vertede-rend, meeslepend, maar voor a l lachwekkend door z i j n s u btiele engelse humor. LE GRAND REVEUR "De grote dromer" heet het stuk dat deze argentijnse groep brengt. Het i s toneel als een stomme f i l m , f i l m als theater, of theater als f i l m , net zoals je het noe-men w i l t . Begeleid door een p i a n i s t spelen ze een f l i t -send melodramatisch mimespel In "de grote dromer" z u l je Charlie Chaplin herkennen. Het hele stuk i s op z i j n f i l m "The Kid" gelnspireerd, zonder er een i m i t a t i e van te z i j n . Deze uitvoering werd i n 1974 i n Argentinie uitgeroepen tot de beste v o o r s t e l l i n g van het ja a r . Daarna trokken ze naar Euro-

DOGTROEP uog-roep i s geen theater-groep in de gebruiKelijke zin van het woord. Er i s b.v. geen repertoire van inge-studeerde stukken. Ook de plaatsen waar Dogtroep op-treadt hoeven niet specifiek bedoeld te z i j n voor theater. Wat Dogtroep laat zien wordt telkens ontworpen voor elke ruimte en atmosfeer waar op-getreden wordt. Daarbij wordt tevens rekening gehouden met de reden waarom mensen daar aanwezig z i j n . Wat Dogtroep laat zien, l i j k t op een sur-r e a l i s t i e s s c h i l d e r i j , dat voortdurend verandert door aktie en improvisatie. Er i s verwantschap met tekenfilms, kartoons, sprookjes en mythen De spelers voeren eigenaar-dige handelingen u i t , die afkomstig z i j n u i t het leven, maar met een eigen ritme, on-derlinge samenhang en herha-l i n g . Dit a l l e s dient niet

tot vermaak of p o l i t i e k e l e -r i n g . Van het publiek wordt nu eens agressie dan weer de fantasie geprikkelc. Veelal ontstaat er echter een poe-t i s c h beeld waardoor de toe-schouwer geboeid wordt als i n een droom.

Nola Rae werd geboren in Sydney, A u s t r a l i e , kreeg als kind a l dansiessen en maak­te haar dansopleiding af aan the Royal B a l l e t school in Londen. Z i j danste twee jaar i n Denemarken en Zweden en ging daarna minelessen v o l -gen b i j Marcel Marceau in P a r i j s i n 1969. Ze reisde enige t i j d met een frans ge-zelschap door heel Frank-r i j k en s t i c h t t e samen met Jango Edwards, eenmaal terug-gekeerd i n Engeland, de Friends Roadshow. Z i j maakte

met deze groep een lange toernee onder het motto: "We w i l l perform anywhere f o r anyone", wat ze dan ook de-den. In november 1974 werd Nola door the B r i s t o l Old Vic Company uitgenodigd om "De Kat" i n 'Dick Witting-ton' te spelen. In 1975 r i c h t t e z i j The London Mime Theatre op.

Neef Diederik Dick Deutekom i s 36 jaar oud en heeft toneel van Jongs af aan als hobby gehad. Hij i s docent dramatische vorming aan de Dansacademie i n Rot­terdam. De t i t e l van het programma i s : "Neef Diederik's Nich-tenwerk Chantant". Het i s een amusementsprogramma met veel l i e d j e s , een sprookje en er va l t veel te lachen om een dans en een aantal voordrachten. Het Utrechtse Nieuwsblad schreef over hem: 'Een jongen die voor kaba-ret i n de wieg s c h i j n t ge-legd. Prima stem, weinig last van g§ne en een ex-pressieve fysionomie die a l l e schakeringen tussen

ABRAKABRA A troupe of clowns doing pup-pettheatre. We are a mu l t i ­national troupe who have performed in Holland, Spain, Germany, I s r a e l & America. Kaboodle Johnny M e l v i l l e , Franki Ja­mes en Pete Banham, a l i e n voormalige leden van de Sa-lakta Balloonband, beslo-ten eind 1976 de groep te verlaten en r i c h t t e n kort daarna een nieuwe groep op: KABOODLE. brengt. Dat doe ik door de muziekfiets te tonen i n a l z i j n aspekten. H i j i s opge-bouwd u i t s t r a a t a f v a l en maakt, soms swingende, mu­ziek. Ik zing over f i e t s e n en a f v a l , maar ook over n i e t -geengageerde onderwerpen. Verder leg ik gedurende de v o o r s t e l l i n g een afvalweg aan, de I r . Van der Werpweg. Ik bespeel het eerste b e l g i -sche muziekinstrument. Ik toon nog wat recycling-din-gen. Cycling saves i t . De muziekfiets i s ontstaan u i t een idee dat ik lang gelcden kreeg. Ik wilde graag met andere mensen muziek maken, maar was niet goed genoeg.

DuoTriplex Het duo Triplex i s een Haarlemse theatergroep die u i t v i j f leden bestaat. De oprichting geschiedde i n 1973. Hun tweede show, de duo t r i p l e x I I show i s een b i j n a twee uur durende show die bestaat u i t een se r i e korte en langere onder­werpen. In deze onderwer­pen en s i t u a t i e s worden zeer regelmatig humoris-tische onderwerpen aange-kaart. En om d i t laatste i s het d i t gezelschap te doen: de v r o l i j k e persiflerende, p i j n l i j k e bizarre en soms krankzinnig makende humor. Deze aspekten vinden we t i j d e n s hun programma terug i n de vorm van sketches, monologen en interviews die handelen over bijvoorbeeld de ouderdom, de conferan-

Het Koninkrijk speelt zich af tegen de ach-tergrond van een f l i n k stuk u i t de recente neder-landse geschiedenis, met name de periode 1940-1977. De muziekband i s gemaakt door Willem Breuker.

Vaak bleek i n een kombina-t i e van beide een sukses-formule te schuilen. Agres-s i e of werkelijke gedreven-heid? Of een bedacht imago. Vragen die aan de orde komen i n de door Projekttheater vertelde Avonturen van een Band i n Muziekland. Ze heb­ben zich laten inspireren door recente ontwikkelingen i n Engeland en Amerika, waar een nieuwe generatie muzi-kanten zich aandient met hun symboliek. Scheermessen aan een touwtje om je nek. GREAT SALT LAKE MIME TROUP The Great Salt Lake Mime Troupe i s a v e r s a t i l e ten member company which i n ­corporates the arts of Mime, Dance, Clowning and Music in i t s performance. Through continual exploration and improvisation i n a wide range of performing s i t u a ­t i o n s , they have developed a unique f l e x i b i l i t y which allows them to o f f e r any type of show, making use of any number of perfor­mers and musicians. The troupe makes use of c l a s s i c a l mime techniques, but does so i n combination with Modern Dance and Clowning to present a s t y l e t o t a l l y i t s own. The d i s c i ­p l i ne and i s o l a t i o n tech­niques of c l a s s i c a l mime are enhanced by the f l u i d i ­ty and extensions charac­t e r i s t i c of the dancer, as well as the comic timing of the clown. Their p r o f i ­ciency i n each of these styl e s extends t h e i r move­ment and communication p o s s i b i l i t i e s , and pre­sents a new view upon mime.

De Great S a l t Lake Mime Troupe trad vorig j a a r met veel sukses t i j d e n s het F o o l s f e s t i v a l op. Ze maken gebruik van klassieke mime technieken, gekombineerd met moderne dans en grappen. Deze kombinatie geeft hen een geheel eigen s t i j l , een nieuwe vorm van mime.

'76, geschre-ven door Ruud Engelander, die z i c h z e l f een beetje schaamt omdat h i j helemaal naar Ame-r i k a i s gereisd om daar Car­los te zien, t e r w i j l h i j a l twee jaar eerder i n Amsterdam te zien was: "Ik heb het over de Argentijn Carlos T r a f i c die i n z i j n eentje een genia-le v o o r s t e l l i n g onder de t i -t e l 'Okey Doc* ten beste gaf. Er z i j n woorden om te beschrij ven waarover h i j het heeft, wat h i j w i l met de omgeving van oude rommel die h i j om zich heen bouwt, met de pop-petjes waar h i j z i j n wrede, maar zo menselijke s p e l l e -t j e s mee u i t h a a l t , over de magistrale wijze waarop h i j met een allerminst perfekte beheersing van de engelse t a a l het publiek i n z i j n ban en in z i j n macht houdt. Maar ik kan die woorden op het ogenblik niet vinden en het doet er niet toe. Waar het om gaat i s dat Carlos T r a f i c een genie van de eerste orde i s , die i n z i j n show humor en tragiek op een v o l s t r e k t aan-vaardbare manier samen laat komen."

Los Angeles Mash Theatre The use of r i t u a l and thea­t r i c a l face masks dates back to pre-recorded histo­ry. S t y les, meanings, and approaches to r i t u a l mask use inter-connect the see­mingly diverse p r i m i t i v e cultures of A f r i c a , Asia, North and South America, and countless i s o l a t e d islands. In other s o c i e t i e s , thea­t r i c a l masks have evolved into a highly developed art form, as seen in the an­cient Japanese no theatre, the comedia del arte of the i t a l i a n renaissance, the mystery and morality plays of the dark ages, and the Greek use of what are now " c l a s s i c a l masks". Since our inception, the Los Angeles Mask Theatre has used masks as a spring­board into wordless r i t u a l , dance invocation, a theatre of intimacy, character en­counter, street theatre, and c o l l e c t i v e t h e a t r i c a l productions. It i s through these t h e a t r i ­c a l presentations, that we most p u b l i c l y share our work with masks. While re­searching our pieces, we have found the mask to be a key to the doors that i n t e r ­connect the f i e l d s of eth­nology, anthropology, primi­

t i v e r e l i g i o n s , psychology, myth, and archetype. In the past, masks have been used to express the ways of a culture to i t s p a r t i c u l a r society. Indeed, t h i s i s our aim i n creating a con­temporary mask theatre; but instead of a demonstration of t r a d i t i o n , we choose to r e f l e c t the e x i s t i n g condi­t i o n i n Los Angeles today.
