Dit zijn bijmengsels bij natuurgassen in lucht. Het mol-percentage is kritisch, maar beheersbaar, zegt men.

Dielectrische eigenschappen beduidend slechter dan van SF6-gas, met name voor het onderbreken van stromen. Verder is er nog weinig over gepubliceerd.

LCA is veel beter dan met SF6-gas, maar feitelijk nog onvergelijkbaar.

A3-109: KEMA-HPL Test circuit met 17 Hz om DC foutstroom onderbreking te simuleren met voldoende MW-power.

DC stroomonderbreking leidt tot overhevelen van magnetische energie (½LI²) naar elektrische energie (½CU²), waardoor zeer hoge overspanningen ontstaan, die door MOSA begrenst moeten worden en waarbij de energie gedissipeerd.

Anderen stellen two-part-test voor waarbij MOSA apart beproefd wordt. A3-106 en A3-117 tonen alternatieve schakelaar technologiën; A3-112 een speciale MOSA

regulated grid, and are called milligrids (mgrids). While not necessarily technically different from μgrids, they are fundamentally different from μgrids from a regulatory and business model perspective because they incorporate traditional regulated utility infrastructure.

1. Definition and Clarification of Microgrid Concept

• Microgrid Stakeholders with a direct financial interest are: – the microgrid owner or operator, – the distribution network operator, – participants in the microgrid, – those who may be directly affected by the existence of microgrids, etc.

• Ownership models: – ownership by the distribution network operator (DNO), – ownership by a current customer or consortium of customers, – independent ownership.

In each case, the microgrid would tend to operate so as to maximise the benefit of the owning stakeholder.

2. How can a Microgrid become profitable? Who owns and/or operates it?

• Distributed energy resources (DER): generation, energy conversion and storage, plus load control.

– Distributed energy storage (DES) allows: • the management of intermittent and renewable energy generation, • serving load during islanded operation.

• Microgrid controls and supervisory systems: – to manage real time power balancing – to determine power exchange requirements with the megagrid during grid-

connected operation • Microgrid protection and automation:

– to ensure safe, sound, and autonomous operation of the microgrid internal assets,

– to fast detection and isolation faults.

3. Some of the key microgrid technology enablers

• Drivers – Exploiting the full benefits of integration of large numbers of small-scale

DER – Resilience has been a dominant concern in the northeastern U.S. and Japan,

following those areas' recent natural disasters. – Off grid electrical systems for remote and rural deployment

• Advantages to customers and utilities: – improved energy efficiency, – minimisation of overall energy consumption, – reduced environmental impact, – improvement of reliability of supply, – network operational benefits such as loss reduction, congestion relief, voltage

control, security of supply, and more cost-efficient electricity infrastructure replacement.

4. Why are Microgrid needed? Benefits of Microgrid

• Cost-benefit analysis requires all impacts be classified into two categories: – “known impacts,” which must be known a priori – and “discovered impacts,” which must be found through simulation or

calculation. • Direct Benefits

– The direct beneficial technical and economic impacts classified as improved efficiency, reduced emissions, and improved power quality and reliability.

– Economic benefits can be obtained through the participation of microgrid loads and sources as one co-operating entity.

• Indirect Benefits – Difficult to quantify. They include environmental benefits such as a reduction in

emissions of greenhouse gasses and other pollutants, reduction of the physical footprint required for power generation, reduction of reliance on external fuel sources and prices, and the creation of employment.

5. Advantages of wide deployment of Microgrids

Necessary equipment and methods needed to deploy a Microgrid: • establishment of a business case, • assembling and configuring of available technology for controlling local generation

and loads, • development of a mutually beneficial interaction with the wider legacy electric

power system (or megagrid), from both the operations and market perspectives under the prevailing regulatory environment.
