    KABILE

    BUILDING

    COMPLETED

What a day ofrejoicing it was

    On

the 23rd of February, 1992, the

    Kabile congregation assembled to

gether for their very first worship

    service in their almost-completed

    church building. Can you

    imagine

    how

    they

    felt?

    These

    faithful

    Chris

t ians had gone through all of the

    emotions:

    never expecting to

    have

    their own

    building,

    and then expe

    riencing

    th e thrill

    of actually

    pray

ing in their own building. Includ

    ing the eighteenchoir

    members

    from

    the

    Lusaka

    Mungwi

    congregation,

    we

    had

    about 100 people there. The

    singing, fellowship, preaching

    and

praises were all pleasing (I feel) in

    sight

    of

    our

    Lord.

    THE OLD AND THE NEW

    It

    was

    a

    ironic

    Emotionally speaking,

    we

    find i t h ar d to cope

    with

    th e seemingly increasing numbers

    of

    people

    Diseases such

    The

    telling

    you

    about

    th e

    catastrophic

    drought

    that has engulfed

    Africa - especially

    the

southern one-thi rd . We are

    now

    starting to

    see the effects

    in Zambia. As a

    result

    of

    the drought, th e

    com harvest

    was only about 20%

    of

    the nation's needs.

    For

    th e poor rural

    farmer,

this will have a crippling effect. He will

    realize

    only

    one-fifth

    of

his normal income to care fo r

    hi s

    family this

    year.

    The com that he

normallykeeps to feed hi s familywith ismuch lessnot

    enough

    to lastuntilnext

    year's harvest.

Not enough money means being unable to purchase additional

    com

    to

    feed

    hi s

    family.

    Only 20% income

    means

    that

    there

    will be no funds

    to

    buy seed and fertilizer

    for this

    year's planting.

    You can

    see from

    this a vicious

    circle unfolding.

    This

    is a letter

    of

    appeal. We

    are

    appealing for funds

    to

    help relieve th e

    suffering

brought on by th e drought. This

    -

    no t

    just

    government/relief

    no t

    just goals for

concerts; not just projects for humanitarian groups. This

    is a

    project for

    Chr is t ians

    We are asking

    that

you consider making a one-time special

    donation

    fo r

    drought relief in general

    in

    Zambia.

    If

    you

    are

    a

    congregation,

    maybe

    it

    could

come from your emergency funds. If

    a

    class,

    it

    could be

    a

    one-Sunday special

offering. If an individual, maybe you could sacrifice one or two dinner outings

    this month.

    Every

    100 giftwillpurchase

    enough

    commeal to feed forty

    small

    families for

    tw o

weeks. We ar e talking about saving lives.

    Please

    make this a matter

    of immediate prayer.

    If

    you

are le d to give, we

    need th e

th e end of June (ifpossible). Pleasemake your check

    J u n e 1992

    Dear Christian

    Friends,

    HELP

We ar e sending thismostunusual letter to al l of

    you

    onourmailing

    l is t because of

    the

    unusua l c i rcums tances we f ind ou rs e lv e s in . There

    is

    no need

    tellingyou about

    the

    catastrophic drought

    that

    ha s engulfedAfrica --especially

    th e southern

    one-third.

We ar e now starting to see th e effects

    in

    Zambia.

    As a

    resultof th e

    drought,

    thecom harvest

    was only about

    20% of the

    nation's needs.

    For

    the poor rural farmer,

    this

    will

    have

a cripplingeffect. He will realize only

one-fifth of his normal income to care for his

    family

this year. The com that he

normallykeeps to feed his familywith is

    much

    less--notenough to lastuntilnext

    year's

harvest. Not enoughmoneymeans being unable to purchase additional

    com

    to

    feed his

    family. Only 20% income

    means

    that

    there will be no funds

    to

buy seed and fertilizer for this

    year's

    planting. You

    can see

    from this a vicious

    circle unfolding.

    This is a

    letter

    of appeal. We

    are

appealing for funds to help relieve

    the

suffering brought on by th e drought. This is a project for all Christians in th e

    world

    not just

    govemmenl/relief agencies;

    not just

    goals for gigantic rock

    concerts; no t

    just

    projects for humanitarian groups.

    This

    is a project for

    Chr is t ians

    We are asking

    that

you consider making a one-t ime special donation for

    drought relief

    in

    general

    in

    Zambia. If you

    are

    a congregation,

    maybe

    it

    could

    come from

    your

emergency funds. If a class ,

    it

    could be a one-Sunday special

offering. If an individual, maybe you could sacrifice one or two dinner outings

this month. Every $100 gift will purchase enough commeal to feed forty small

families for two weeks. We are talking

    about

    saving lives.

Pleasemake this a matter of immediate prayer. If you

    are

    led to give, we

need th e funds now, before th e end ofJune (ifpossible). Pleasemakeyour check

ou t to Zambia Christian Mission, and mention

    drought

    reliefwhen you mail it

    to ou r

    Forwarding Agent.

    May

    God

    bless

    us

al l as we work to save souls

    and

    lives.

    At

13 souls confessedChrist. Attendance figures for a normal Sunday service

    the

    fact

    I designed these Mmnbwa

    more
