• One kilo of gold can be recovered from 50,000 mobile telephones.

• Dutch people have an average of four to six old mobile phones lying unused in a drawer.

• Each person produces 23,4 kilo of e-waste. Often this includes a small quantity of gold.

• The Dutch recycle less than a third of their e-waste.

• According to Statistics Netherlands, the country throws away 27 million euros a year this way.

• Dutch jewelry stores use mostly recycled gold.

Greater respect for human rights, the environment and biodiversitythroughout the chain, from mining to recycling:

• OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chainsof Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.
