Fourth Sunday of Lent: Today we celebrate Laetare Sunday, named for the first word in the opening antiphon: “Rejoice”. Lent can seem burdensome with its emphasis on penitence and sacrifice. But today we look with anticipa-tion to its end in the Easter miracle. Jesus’ resurrection is the light at the end of the tunnel. Let us give thanks for the light he gives to our lives. Cuarto Domingo de Cuaresma: Hoy celebramos el domingo Laetare, el cual toma su nombre de la primera palabra de la antífona de entrada: “Alégrate”. La Cuaresma puede parecernos gravosa por su énfasis en la penitencia y el sacrificio. Pero hoy vislumbramos ya su final con la expectación del milagro de la Pascua. La resurrección de Jesús es la luz al final del túnel. Demos gra-cias por la luz con el alumbra nuestra vida.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul would like to thank the parishioners of St. John for the gen-erous contribution of $3,048 for the month of February. During the month of February the Society visited 36 households and assisted with electric and water bills along with food, personal care items and housing costs. The total expenditures for the assistance provided were $10,504.28. La Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul quisiera agradecer a los feligreses de San Juan por la generosa contribución de $3,048 por el mes de enero. Durante el mes de enero, la Socie-dad visito 36 hogares y ayudo con las facturas de electricidad y agua junto con alimentos, articulaos de cuidado personal y costos de vivienda. Los gastos totales por la asistencia brindada fueron de $10,504.28.

Teen Stations of the Cross. The Confirmation Teens will present a “Teen Stations of the Cross” at 3 pm on Good Friday, April 10, in the church. These Stations are for all parishioners of St. John and their guests. The presentation will include a short skit, reflections, and music for each station.
