What is the North Carolina P-20W System?

A P-20W System is a Statewide Longitudinal Data Systems (SLDS) that links data from Early

Learning, K-12, Higher Education and Workforce.

P = Preschool20 = Grade 20 or higher education

W = Workforce

Why is this project important for NC?The P-20W system will greatly enhance North Carolina's ability to track student performance

across years and sectors, help evaluate institutions and program performance, analyze data inmore detail to validate or improve performance. With the system in place, the state will be able

to produce existing and new reports more quickly and with fewer resources. With this data, North

Carolina will be able to answer questions like, "Which preschool programs best prepare studentsfor kindergarten?" and "How successful are college graduates in the workforce by major orcredential?"
