In het werk van Hedwig Houben vindt een voortdurende evaluatie en reflectie op het artistieke proces plaats. In plaats van het presenteren van een afgewerkt kunstobject, nodigt Houben de kijker uit bij een analyse van haar proces van creëren en toont zij de twijfels en overwegingen met betrekking tot het object dat wordt gemaakt. Houben gebruikt deze analyse als een nieuw moment van creëren. De vorm die dit krijgt verschilt per werk van lezing tot openbare interventie, van sculptuur tot video.

Hedwig Houben“This group of artist (NL/NL/NL/BE/NL) work in a variety of media. By applying a wide variety of contemporary strategies, they play with the idea of the mortality of an artwork confronted with the power of a transitory appearance, which is, by being restricted in time, much more intense. Their artworks are made through strict rules which can be perceived as liberating constraints. Romantic values such as ?inspiration?, ?genius? and ?authenticity? are thereby neutralised and put into perspective. The group currently lives and works in Kunstpodium T.”

Tim HollanderTHE EXHIBITION AS A LANGUAGE The world of contemporary visual arts has a tight relationship with text and information. Wether it is in reviews, essays, lists of materials or (un)written rules, art is closely related to language. My work is continuos and open research into the art exhibition as a language. The installations and publications I create focus on the curation, presentation and translation of information (wether text or image) - three important factors in both contemporary and historical exhibitions, which influence our perception of the exhibited. The work often displays various presentation channels and models like vitrines, tables, diagrams, publications and floor-plans, which are usually very

functional aspects within an exhibition: they show the visitor exactly where (and how) to look. A floorplan or introductional text is often the first thing that is presented to visitors and is therefore a powerful tool to structurise an exhibition. It’s a typical visual language that is easily recognized by anyone that has ever visited a museum. While consistently using this language of the museum the elements undergo a transformation from functional object to artwork or from exhibition-guide to multiple, yet keeping their functional appearance. Often the work exposes specific power structures within art institutions, but equally often it humorously points the visitor in unexpected directions.

Tom HalletVandaag schreef ik twee zinnen op een wit vel papier. Ik tekende er enkele herkenbare zwarte geometrische vormen bij die zouden kunnen verwijzen naar bestaande objecten:

- Objecten die van belang zijn maar niet herkend worden door hun alledaagse aanwezigheid.

- Objecten die betekenis dragen maar tevens over het hoofd gezien kunnen worden.

Zoë d’HontDe vaak interdisciplinaire werken van Zoë d’Hont ontstaan procesmatig, en het zoekende karakter blijft zichtbaar. Door de toeschouwer te laten meespelen of de context binnen óf buiten een werk te veranderen, krijgt het een beweeglijk karakter, het worden is belangrijker dan het zijn. Haar werk in de tentoonstelling zal ontstaan uit een imaginaire reis naar IJsland.
