Jacques de Haan & Rory Attwood Division of Otorhinolaryngology Faculty of Health Sciences Tygerberg Campus, Stellenbosch University 24 year old man shot with pellet gun. Requests removal of pellet, despite no residual loss nor deficit. Pellet does not pierce the floor of the ant cranial fossa, Except for the images 2 nd page 2 &pg3 the pellet appears to be surrounded by dense bone. On the last page there is a bony fragment and I think a fracture in the vertical lamella running up from the cribriform plate this is several mm from where the pellet is lying. It’s possible but unlikely to be a hardened ray defect. There are very possibly some small fragments of pellet masked by the hardened rays.
