Cl direa este situat în partea de sus a ora ului. Se întoarce cu spatele la p dure,formând limita fi nal periferic a zonei construite. F când ecoul peisajului deschis, conservatorul se confrunt cu Belfort Lion pe partea opus a dealului. În acestcontext puternic, cl direa î i ofer soliditatea ei, o mas aproape opac de betongri. Suprafa a masei are o textur neobi nuit , aluzie la plante sau venele din marmur . Acesta a fost realizat cu vopsele prelinse în dou nuan e de albastru. Vopseaua scurs împrumut pielii cl dirii profunzime i grosime. Suprafe elevibreaz în lumin , aparent în mi care – iar materia înceteaz s mai fi e static .

Monolitul de beton eman o prezen enigmatic . Numai volumul camerei de dans pare s se uite la Lion, construit în 1879 ca un simbol al rezisten ei la inamici.Imobilul condenseaz un program cu volume foarte variate. Cl direa con inedou amfi teatre, un teatru, o sal de dans mare, o bibliotec , s li de clas , bi-rouri administrative, precum i o serie de studiouri cu volume i suprafe e foarte diferite. Acustica fi ec rui studio este conceput pentru a corespunde unui instru-ment specifi c. Zonele par a se potrivi unele în altele. Zone goale sunt scobite dinaceast mas compact , creând rela ii între diferitele niveluri. Holul de la intrareeste la o scar nea teptat . Biblioteca pare a fi suspendat , marcând sec iunea transversal i servind ca un refl ector gigant. Curtea interioar central estecea mai întunecat zon . Culoarea i designul s u prelins pe negativ inverseazcodurile din anvelopa exterioar . Este expresia ultim a densit ii.

The building is located in the upper part of the town. It backs onto the woods, forming the fi nal outlying limit of the built-up area. Echoing the open landscape, it faces to Bel-fort Lion on the hilltop opposite. In this strong context, the building offers its solidity, an almost opaque mass of grey concrete. The surface of the mass has an unusual texture, hinting at plants or the veins in marble. It has been achieved by drip painting in two shades of blue. The drips of paint lend depth and thickness to the skin of the building. The surfaces vibrate in the light, apparently in motion – matter ceases to be static.

The concrete monolith exudes an enigmatic presence. Only the volume of the dance room seems to be looking at the Lion, constructed in 1879 as a symbol of resistance to the enemy. The building condenses a program with very varied volumes. The building contains two auditoriums, a theatre, a large dance room, a library, classrooms, admin-istrative offi ces, and a host of studios with very varied volumes and areas. The acoustic of each studio is designed to suit one specifi c instrument. The areas appear to fi t into each other. Empty areas are hollowed out of this compact mass, creating relationships between the different levels. The entrance hall is on an unexpected scale. The library seems to be suspended, marking out the cross-section and serving as a giant defl ector. The central patio is the darkest area. Its colour and its negative drip design reverse the codes of the outer envelope. It is the ultimate expression of density.
