VVBAD STUDIEDAG FOCUS OP AUTEURSRECHT

HERMAN RUCIC (@HRUCIC) SECRETARIAT COPYRIGHT FOR CREATIVITY (C4C) COALITION

10 OKTOBER – PXL HOGESCHOOL HASSELT

1 The flaw: outdated

The solution: a Copyright review that simplifies and modernizes

2 The flaw: no harmonisation

The solution: a harmonization based on a mandatory list of

limitations and exceptions

3 The flaw: too long

The solution: a shortening of

duration and a faster transfer to the public domain

4 The flaw: dysfunctional

implementation and enforcement

The solution: a review of the implementation and enforcement,, including an in-depth reassessment

of private copy levies and the preservation of intermediary

liability rules

“The public consultation generated broad interest with more than 9,500 replies to the consultation document and a total of more than 11,000 messages, including questions and comments, sent to the Commission’s dedicated email address. A number of initiatives were also launched by organized stakeholders that nurtured the debate around the public consultation and drew attention to it². ² These include, for example, initiatives like ‘Fix copyright!’, ‘Creators for Europe’, and ‘Copywrongs.eu’”
