Over de auteurs

Jan Buitelaar is hoogleraar psychiatrie en kinder- en jeugdpsychiatrieaan de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, hoofd van de afdelingPsychiatrie van het UMC St. Radboud, en hoofd van Karakter Univer-sitair Cluster. Zijn klinische en onderzoeksbelangstelling gaat uit naarde neuropsychiatrische stoornissen als Autisme Spectrum Stoornissenen ADHD. Hij was indertijd de initiatiefnemer voor het screenings-onderzoek naar de sociale ontwikkeling (SOSO) in de provincieUtrecht.

Emma van Daalen, kinder- en jeugdpsychiater, werkt op de afdelingkinder- en jeugdpsychiatrie, zorglijn autisme en psychose van hetUMC te Utrecht. Zij was een van de onderzoekers binnen hetscreeningsonderzoek naar de sociale ontwikkeling (SOSO) in hetUMC Utrecht. Zij heeft zich daarbij gericht op het diagnosticerenvan zeer jonge kinderen met een stoornis in het autistisch spectrum;dit onderzoek wordt nog afgerond met een proefschrift over ditonderwerp. Zij is vooral geınteresseerd in het ontwikkelingsverloopvan neuropsychiatrische stoornissen en de link met de genetischeachtergrond van deze stoornissen.

Claudine Dietz is klinisch psycholoog. Zij was een van de onderzoekersbinnen het screeningsonderzoek naar de sociale ontwikkeling (SOSO)in het UMC Utrecht. Dit onderzoek heeft zij in 1997 afgerond met eenproefschrift over de vroege screening van autisme. Op dit momentwerkt zij bij Altrecht Kind, Jeugd en Gezin, binnen ‘het jonge kind’-team en het autismeteam. Haar klinische en onderzoeksbelangstellinggaat uit naar het ontwikkelingsverloop bij jonge kinderen met psy-chiatrische stoornissen zoals autisme.

Herman van Engeland is emeritus hoogleraar kinder- en jeugdpsychiatrieaan het UMC Utrecht. Als onderzoeker heeft hij aan vele neurobiolo-

gische aspecten van autisme gewerkt en de vroegherkenning ervankrachtig gestimuleerd.

Rutger Jan van de Gaag is hoogleraar klinische kinder- en jeugdpsy-chiatrie aan de Radboud Universiteit in Nijmegen, hoofd patienten-zorg en opleider van Karakter Universitair Cluster en voorzitter van hetKennis Centrum Karakter. Zijn klinische en onderzoeksbelangstellingligt op het gebied van de neuropsychiatrische ontwikkelingsstoornis-sen als Autisme Spectrum Stoornissen, ADHD en verslaving. Hij wasspreekuurhouder bij het Diane-project (Diagnostiek en Interventievoor Autisme in Nederland).

Daphne van Steijn is orthopedagoog en werkt bij Karakter UniversitairCluster. De afgelopen jaren heeft ze zich onder meer beziggehoudenmet de inhoud van de ESAT-uitgave. Bovendien was ze belast met decoordinatie en de vormgeving ervan. Ze is recent gestart met hetschrijven van haar proefschrift. Haar onderzoeksbelangstelling richtzich voornamelijk op Autisme Spectrum Stoornissen en de invloedop het gezin.

Sophie Swinkels, bioloog, werkte jarenlang als universitair hoofddocentpsychopathologie bij de afdeling Psychiatrie van het UMC St Radboudte Nijmegen en als researchcoordinator bij Karakter UniversitairCluster. Haar taken waren onder andere het initieren van weten-schappelijk onderzoek naar vroege herkenning, diagnostiek enbehandeling van Autisme Spectrum Stoornissen en ADHD, het bege-leiden van junioronderzoekers en promovendi en het geven vanonderwijs aan studenten geneeskunde. Momenteel werkt zij alsteamleider statistiek bij Danone Research-Centre for SpecialisedNutrition.
