The classier’s ocus:its classication eect.

An air classier divides material

fow into two parts. One o them

consists o ne material, the other

one o coarser parts. Centriugal,

gravitational and fow orces im-

pact on mass elements which are

o dierent sizes and use natural

laws to bring about classication.The “tromp curve“ illustrates how

eciently the materials are classi-

ed: The lower the deviation rom

the vertical, the more precise the

sharpness o classication. The

lower the deviation rom the hori-

zontal line, the greater the classi-

cation eect.

Function and efciency 

Clean classication by physical orces: In the classi-

ying area, the material is classied by centriugal

and fow orces: coarse grain is pushed to the side

walls, ne grain is pulled inwards.

Depending on customer and material demands it

is possible to reach a product neness with a cut

point o d97 = 80 µm up to 15 µm and o 25 µm

reaching into the submicron area (< 1 µm).

Christian Peier’s high ecien-

cy air classiers are designed in

such a way that the material-to-

be-classied arrives at the distri-

bution plate by two diametrical-

ly arranged eeding chutes. Due

to the high speed o rotation, the

material is then pushed to the side

walls. In this process, any possi-

ble agglomerates disintegrate be-

ore the dissolved material alls

into the classiying area below.

In alling, the material is caught

by a horizontal airfow which car-

ries the smaller particles through

the rotor blades into the rotat-ing cage. From there, they are

either carried to cyclones or

are classied as ne ma-

terial through a lter

system. During this

classiying pro-

cess, heavy par-

ticles are not

caught by the air

fow but all into

the coarse mate-

rial cone.

Conned air seal:wear-ree thanks to air

cushion.

In Christian Peier’s classier’s

concept, it is the conned air seal

which plays a very special and

very successul role. Mounted be-

neath the rotating cage, the con-

ned air seal oers you many

advantages compared to conven-

tional solutions like, or exam-

ple, the labyrinth seal. The big-

gest advantage: The conned air

seal does not wear out. This is due

to a special construction: the ad-

 justing ring and the rotating cage

do not touch each other, they are

separated by a small gap. Air is

pressed into this gap making it

work like a cushion and providingsmooth operation. When escap-

ing between the sealing rings,

the air prevents dust and

coarse-grained mate-

rial particles (over-

sized particles)

rom entering.

Technology and details

Strong lining.

 An unbreakable protection.

In order to guard against wear, we do not only optimize

material guiding. Additionally, we supply all parts

o our classiers subject to high velocities

o eed material with long-lasting lining or

wear protection. By doing this, a chemically

bound cemented ceramic protects the dis-

tribution plate, the lateral parts o the dis-

persion zone, the nes discharge tube as well

as the casing parts beneath the classiying zone.

Especially stressed areas o air guide vanes and rotating

cage rods are equipped with extremely wear resistant

hard material linings. In the grit cone, constructively

planned material build-ups serve as autogenous protec-

tion.

Maximum economy:even during maintenance.

For us it is important to keep

the maintenance o our classi-

ers as simple as possible. For this

reason, the bearing cartridge in

Christian Peier‘s high eciency

air classiers is installed outside

the dust-loaded zone o the rotat-

ing cage. During maintenance itis removed in ull, with the rotat-

ing cage remaining in the classi-

er. All o the classier‘s compo-

nents can also easily be reached

through ample-sized inspection

doors.

For you the advantage is that worn

parts can be quickly replaced,

keeping non-operation periods at

a minimum and ensuring economic

and continuous operation.

Smooth drive.

Reliable and long-lasting.

CPB high eciency air classiers are smoothly driven by

V-belts. Depending on motor capacity, the belt pulley

starts moving either directly or with a reducer unit.

Our decision to opt or this construction was made con-

sciously and has proved its worth or many years through-

out the world. It is o low weight. It needs extremely low

maintenance. It has a very long lie, with virtually no signs

o wear on the V-belts ater years o operation.

In cases where the basic materi-

al is hot or special requirements o

material temperature have to be

met, we use a lter system instead

o cyclones.

In this system, the temperature o

the nish material is given and the

system initially started in a closed

circuit. I the sensor detects nomi-

nal temperature in the materi-

al fow, the resh air damper (C)

is opened up step by step in or-

der to let resh air in. The exhaust

air damper (B) regulates itsel.

The recirculating air damper (A)

is regulated automatically by thepressure in ront o the classier.

For maximum cooling, the whole

classiying air is replaced by resh

air. In this process, nish product

temperatures o less than 70 °C

can be reached.

TGS:the compact twin

o the QDK

The TGS Top Gas Classier uses

the same successul process tech-

nology as the QDK. Eciency and

operating principle are identical.

The most important dierence:

the TGS is more compact. The n-

ish product is discharged above

the rotating cage. With this addi-

tion to the successul QDK, Chris-

tian Peier oers you more fexi-

bility in the choice o the optimum

solution or your plant design. The

TGS has proved especially valua-

ble in the modernization o exist-

ing grinding plants. It is installed

when there is not sucient space

or a QDK.

With the DSL, dynamic air classi-

er, the material eeding is eect-

ed through the classiying air fow

rom the bottom. This solution has

proven successul in the greatest

variety o customer plants world-

DSK:the individual solution

or humid materials.

Christian Peier also plans and

designs customized dynamic clas-

siers. One o these is the DSK

which is oten used or vertical

coal mills. It was developed or

the classication o coal, petcoke

and urther products with rela-

tively high humidity.

Its high classication eciency

means that the DSK can also meet

stricter industry requirements

regarding NOx limits. For explo-

sive materials, the DSK is available

as shock pressure resistant ver-

sion.The vertical arrangement o

the central eeding chute prevents

material coating o humid materi-als. It conveys the eeding mate-

rial directly on the grinding

table o the vertical mill.
