ThesedatabaseshavebeendevelopedfollowingthePolicyAgendasMasterCodebook.TheMasterCodebookisanadaptationoftheUSCodebooktotheEuropeancontext.Forthelastyears,CAPresearchgroupshaveengagedinseriesofintenseandproductivediscussionsaboutthecodingsystemthatendedupwiththeMasterCodebook.Fordetailedinformationaboutthisprocessofadaptationpleasevisithttp://sbevan.com/cap-master-codebook.html

2.1.Typeofdocuments:

Thedatabasescontaintwotypesofdocuments:

a) Singleissuedocuments:likeOralandwrittenquestions,Bills,andLaws.

b) Multipleissuedocuments:likePartymanifestosandSpeeches• Forthecaseofmultipleissuedocuments,wehavedividedeachtextualpartofthe

bodyofapartymanifestooraPrimerMinisterspeechintosingleissueunits,identifiedasquasi-sentences.Eachquasi-sentencecontainsexactlyoneissue,statementormessage.Insomecases,policyactors(eitherpartiesorprimerMinisters)addressoneissuepersentence.Inthesecases,onequasi-sentenceequalsonefullsentence(dottodot).Inothercases,onesentencecontainsmorethanonestatement,messageorissue.Inthesecasesonesentencecontainsseveralquasisentences.
