    CONSTRUCTION

    BEGUN

    During the pas t

    two

    years

    plus we

    have

    requested

    prayer

    suppor t on many

    occasions

    fo r various

    matters

    concerning

    the Chel ston

    congregation. Many of

    these

    prayers have

    b e en a n sw e re d

    in

    th e aff i rmative.

    With

    deed

in hand and p lans approved, cons truct ion

    was

    begun

    on

    Monday

    morning, the

    18th of

    March. The

    deed fo r

    the land is actually a

    lease

    for

    ninety-nine

    years. The Lusaka City

    Council approved

    our

    plans, and

    th e

    Lusaka

    Urban

    Distr ict

    Counc i l

    c o nn e ct ed t he

    wa te r

supply two days later. The supply of water to

    th e

townships is limited to just a few hours

    each day due to

    the

    undersized

    supply

    pipes

in the area and mal func tion ing equ ipment.

    Having

    enough water each

    day

    for

    construction

    may

    be

    our

    greatest problem.

    We have

    spent

    approximately K22,000

    ($10,000) up to this time.

    WELL

    AT MUNGU

    Praise

th e Lord The well at

    Mungu

    was

    completed less than twenty-four hours

    before

    the

r ains began . All of us men received a special

    blessing

    from

    having worked so hard together

    for

    those three weeks.

    When we

    finish fencing in the

area (to protec t the members ' small truck

    gardens

    from cattle)

    we

    will

    have

    spent

    approximately

    1,500.

    At t hi s t ime

    t he wa te r

    in

    the

    well

    Is

    within

    two

feet of ground level. With the

    diameter

    nearly

    forty inches across,

    and since

    the

    well is about

    twenty-six feet

    deep,

    there

    is a lot of

    water

    in that

    well. People of

    th e

    village

    use it all

    day, every day.

    Thank you

    again

    for all of th e

    special

    gifts that

made this project possible. We still have a rather

    large amount

    of

    funds available

    that

    were

    designated

    for

    water and food

    relief

    projects.

    We

will continue wit h th is

    program

    as

    opportunities

a ri se and t ime permi ts .

    Well diggers

    A

    NEW

    OPPORTUNITY??

About ten kilometres further in the bush from Mungu is the village of Chikupi Chilambila). Recently a

    Christian couple requested

    that we

    come into their village

    for

    Bible

    classes and

    possibly

    start a

    new

there. The village ha s a new clinic small hospital)

    and

    a primary school. We have

    met once

    a week for a

    now. Last week we had

    about

    twenty-five in

    our

    class. We ar e

    studying the book

    of

    Acts.

    Most of

    th

members a re married couples who are

    farmers,

    school teachers or clinic

    technicians.

    The potent ia

church is great. We pray that God will lead us to

    do

His will in this area. Within a few weeks we willdecid

group) whether God wishes for a New

    Testament church

    to be

    started there.

    MOBILE CLINICS

With the rains coming to an end I hope to

    resume

    my

    rural clinic

    work soon. Ihave changed the

    emph

    my

    dental

    service

    here.

    I

    no

    longer

    operate

    a

    clinic

    in

    Lusaka

    for

    missionary

    emergencies.

    This prove

    time-consuming

and, since there ar e several private dentists in th e capital, not as necessary as before. I

    hold

    extraction clinics

    only

occasionally. My plan is to go

    into

th e rural schools with lectures to the s tud

    prevention.

    The

    Zambian

    government is

    particularly

    interested in

    prevention

    of disease.

    They reali

    treatment

    is

    almost

    an impossible task (especially In

    the

    rural

    areas).

    HUNGER F O O D DISTRIBUTION

    Along

    with the

    well /garden project

    for the drought-ridden area in

    Mungu,

    we have been

    able

    to

    di

    fo od to some of

    the hungry peop le

    in

    th e area.

    Each family

    (deemed

to be needy) received a fifty-five

bag of mealie meal corn mea l - their staple) and over two pounds of table salt. Periodicallywe will be

for opportunities to continue this distr ibut ion program.

    INTERNSHIP

    We were

    thrilled

    to hear

    from

    Jeff

    recently

~ stating that he desired to serve an internship with

    Christian Mission

    in

    Lusaka

    during

    the

    Summer of 1985. He explained

    t ha t t hi s

    summer will

    be

    h

opportunity to serve an internship due to the

    nature

    of

    hi s

schooling which requires summer sess ions

the Jun io r and Sen io r

    years. Having

    him

here with us fo r three

    and one -hal f months

    will be wonderful i

    ways. We can certainly

    use

    his help

    with the

    work here (especially

    the

    building

    construction).

    We are p

    that

    several designated gifts will be

    given

    to help underwrite

    his

    expenses.

    CHELSTON

    CHURCH

    BUILDING

    COMPLETED

    Five

    months

    On

    th e

    of

    August

    with over

    450 in

    attendance and

    a

    program

    lasting

    three

    hours

    enjoyed a

    day

    of fellowship

    food

    and pra ise to God.

    The congregation at Chelston recently

    voted

    to take the name of

    Antioch.

    They felt

    that they could identify with

    Acts

    11:26b

    where

    we

    read

    . . and

    the disciples were

    first called

    Chr is t ians

    in Antioch.

    The

    building

    itself

    has

    about 2 500

    square feet

    of usable

    space.

    A block

    wall-

fence has been placed completely around

    th e

    plot for

    security and privacy. The land-

    scaping and driveway have

    been

    comple ted. The

    total cost

    fo r everything

    including the land labor building

materials and seats was 60 000.00 Kwacha

    ( 28,000.00).

    I am very thankful

    that

    Jeff

    was

    able to

serve an in te rnsh ip here to help

    with

    th e

building phase. He and Russell made it

possible to have the building completed at The Chelston church ~ Antioch ded

    this time,

    otherwise

    I

    would

still be working ted to the glory of God

    year I've

    been

    waiting for

    has

    finally

    arrived

    . . . MY

    SENIOR

    YEAR In

    one sense,

    like I

    said,

    I've

    been looking

    forward to

    it,

    but

    in

    another

    I'm

    sort

    of dreading all

    th e

    things

    I'll have to

    get done and turned

    in

    on

    time.

    Thisyear ,

    indeed, will be a

    year

    of

    preparation

    for college. As

    David

wrote in Psalms 23:1, The Lord is

    myshepherd

    . . . I'll let

    that

    be

one of my guiding verses throughout my

    senioryear .

    It surely is

    nice being

home again, and being with my

whole family again. Already it's almost time

    to

    go back

    to

    school. On Sunday, Augus t

    18th,

    th e Dedication Service

    of

the Antioch chu rc h a t Che ls to n

    t ook p lace . Many of

    th e

    choirs

    from

    our

    other

    c hu rch es s an g t hroughout th e

    service, as well as

    the

    Rostvit

    Twins. There were about

    45 0

    people

    there. Itwas uplifting to

    rejoice

    with God's

    people.

    I

    believe

    that

    He

has really blessed the Christians at th e

Antioch church with this new building

    as

    th ey begin

    expanding

    their congregation.

    This

    coming year

    at R.V.A. I

will be a junior. I have begun taking

    voice

    lessons at school

    so I

    am looking forward

    to

    star ting back again.

    It is

    almost time

for my school at ISL to

    begin.

    Iwill be in

    the

    third grade

    this time,

    and

    I am

    sure

    itis going to

    be

    hard.

    I enjoyed helping

    my

Papa build the new church building. I

    even

    gotto

    learn

    how

    to

    be

    a

    bricklayer. The strange thing

    is

    when

    all of

    the otherworkers got paid,

    I

    didn't

    get

    anything

    I

    want

    to

    thank some

    of

    you

for writing letters to me. I

    wish

more of you would write to me.

    Putting Jesus first

    TOGETHER FOR TWENTY-FIVE

    YEARS

    The

    blessings that

    come

    in a

    God-ordained marriage cannot

    be

    co unted or

    valued. Every

    year that passes

    brings

    more

    and

    more wonder fu l, beautiful

    memories and

    blessings.

    Our

    twenty-fifth

    year

    together

    was

    no exception. Our

    heavenly

    Father

    does

    keep

    His

    promises:

    we

    must

    only

    trust

    in

    Him.

    As

    we

    begin our twenty-sixth year

    of

    marriage

    we

    look

    forward

    to it

    with

    exci tement and anticipa

    t ion. W e a re

    exci ted to know

    whe re G od

    will

    lead us,

    and

    we

    are anxious

    to

    be used by

    Him

    in

    any

    situation

    He chooses. We

    are thankful that God planned

    marriage to

    last a lifet ime. The

    true

    Christian

    can

    look upon

    marriage in no other way.
