De samensmelting van het vroegere ASK Staal- en Industriebouw en Romein Roosendaal eind 2002 vormde het begin van een perfect huwelijk. Sinds de fusie in 2002 groeide de groepsomzet in een snel tempo tot meer dan 100 miljoen euro in 2008. In totaal telt de groep een 330-tal medewerkers waarvan er 130 actief zijn in Malle.

Since the merger in 2002, group turnover has quickly risen to more than €100m in 2008. In total the group employs a staff of 330, 130 of who work in Malle.

You can’t miss it!! On the Eikenlei in Sint-Job in ’t Goor: the brand new showroom of the Leuris garage, the Volkswagen and Audi dealer, with its modern but fun look hits you straight in the eye. The different glass elements give the building a transparent and light character. In the middle of a glass tube, the mechanism of the car lift glitters. This lift takes the brand new shining cars to the first floor. The Leuris garage chose ASK Romein to handle the complete construction of this new showroom including offices, reception, car lift, seating area, car park, etc. “A real breath of fresh air”, said associate business manager Chantal Leuris. “Most people say building is such a nightmare, you only want to do it once”. But that is absolutely not the case with ASK Romein. I would work with them again without a moment’s hesitation.”

Op de Eikenlei in Sint-Job in ’t Goor kan u er moeilijk naast kijken: de gloednieuwe showroom van garage Leuris, dealer van Volkswagen en Audi, springt met zijn moderne maar gezellige look direct in het oog. De vele glaspartijen geven het gebouw een doorzichtig en licht karakter. Midden in een glazen koker pronkt het mechanisme van een autolift die de gloednieuwe glimmende wagens naar de eerste verdieping brengt. Voor de volledige bouw van deze nieuwe toonzaal - inclusief kantoren, receptie, autolift, zithoek, parking,… - ging garage Leuris in zee met ASK Romein. “Een echte verademing”, vertelt medezaakvoerder Chantal Leuris. “De meeste mensen zeggen: ‘bouwen, zo’n nachtmerrie, dat doe je liefst maar één keer’. Met ASK Romein is dat absoluut niet zo. Ik zou meteen opnieuw beginnen.”

Dezelfde golflengteGarage Leuris koos voor ASK Romein vanwege de totaalservice en de prima prijs/kwaliteitverhouding. “Voor het ontwerp zaten we meteen op dezelfde golflengte. Wij wisten wat we wilden, zij vertaalden dat naar technische oplossingen en adviseerden bij de keuze van de materialen. Verder namen ze de volledige coördinatie van de uitvoering op zich. Met eventuele onderaannemers had ik niets te maken. Op de wekelijkse werfvergadering kon ik bij één persoon terecht met alle vragen. Dat was mijn persoonlijke adviseur waar ik volledig op vertrouwde. Heel belangrijk, want ook tijdens de bouw moesten we de zaak hier draaiende houden. Zelfs met alle moeite van de wereld kan ik niet één noemenswaardig minpunt bedenken.”

The same wavelengthGarage Leuris chose ASK Romein because of the total service and the excellent price/quality ratio. “During the design phase we swiftly both to the same wavelength. We knew what we wanted and they translated it into technical solutions and advised us in the choice of materials. They also took on the whole of the co-ordination for the production. I had nothing to do with any other contractors they used. At the weekly site meeting, I dealt with just one single person for all my queries. This was my personal adviser that I had complete confidence in. This was very important, because during the building works we had to keep things running here. Even with all the will in the world I cannot think of one single negative point worth mentioning.”

DEAlEr AUDi – VOlkSWAGEN: “WOrk WiTh ASk rOmEiN AGAiN? WiThOUT A mOmENT’S hESiTATiON!”

kAtoEn nAtiE: “Prima reputatie en de beste prijs”“Bouw twaalf stockagehallen van elk 32 000m², met brandwerende wanden onderverdeeld in vier compartimenten van 8000m². De hallen moeten voorzien zijn op een levensduur van veertig jaar. De buitenstructuur en de overspanning worden gevormd door een staalconstructie. De brandwerende wanden bestaan uit betonnen kolommen die zijn aangesloten op de staalconstructie.”

De lat voor deze gigantische bouwopdracht van Katoen Natie in Loghidden City in de Antwerpse haven lag zeer hoog. Verschillende gerenommeerde bouwfirma’s schreven in op het gedetailleerde bestek, maar ASK Romein kwam in het selectieproces als beste uit de bus. “Voor eerdere opdrachten hadden we al met ASK Romein samengewerkt”, vertelt Luc Van Dijck van Katoen Natie. “We kenden dus hun goede reputatie. Bovendien boden ze voor deze opdracht de beste prijs.”

“Verwachtingen waargemaakt”ASK Romein bouwde - tot ieders tevredenheid - de hallen zoals door de opdrachtgever werd gespecificeerd. “De samenwerking verliep prima. Zowel op het vlak van kwaliteit als het respecteren van de deadlines. We wisten wat we van hen konden verwachten en ze hebben dit ook volledig waargemaakt. Bovendien waren ze meteen mee met de opdracht. Binnen het uitgeschreven concept kwamen ze geregeld met creatieve voorstellen om tijd en kosten te besparen.”

kAtoEn nAtiE: “Excellent reputation and the best price”“A building with twelve storage halls each measuring 32 000m², with fire-resistant walls and split up into four compartments measuring 8 000m². The halls had to have a lifespan of forty years. The outer structure and the tension were created by a steel construction. The fire-resistant walls were made of concrete columns that are linked up to the steel construction.”

The targets for this huge building job for Katoen Natie in Loghidden City in the Port of Antwerp was set very high. Different reputable building companies put in detailed offers, but ASK Romein came out best in the selection procedure. “We had already worked with ASK Romein on earlier projects”, said Luc Van Dijck of Katoen Natie. “So, we knew they had a good reputation. Moreover, their offer for this project came in at the best price.”

“Expectations met”ASK Romein built – to everyone’s satisfaction – the halls as specified by the client. “Co-operation was excellent. Both in terms of quality as well as meeting deadlines. We knew what we could expect of them and they were able to stand up to their commitments. Moreover they went straight to work on the project. They regularly came up with creative proposals within the concept to save time and money.”

The steel beams and plates are sawn according to professional workmanship standards at our own workshops; they are drilled, scored and welded. After the necessary treatments, painting or spraying, the different parts are ready to be transported to the building site. The assembly takes place in all kinds of weather and even on top of high buildings. You can also leave all the designs the stability studies and drawings for our specialist to handle for you.

“EXPAnd A running ChEmiCAl FACtorY. no EASY FEAt! INEOS Phenol, phenol and acetone producer in the Port of Antwerp was faced with a huge challenge: expand the production plan safely and with minimum interruption to the running installations. Different contractors were involved in the work.

ASK Romein handled the steel constructions, including the construction itself and the installation. In all, the project used more than 1 800 tons of steel. “Some aspects were far from simple”, said Kris Deboutte, Director Engineering & Maintenance of INEOS Phenol. “New structures had to be added, and some existing constructions had to be completely converted. One of the great challenges was installing a completely new fl oor on an existing pipe rack throughout the whole installation. In total thousands of holes had to be drilled in existing constructions.”

Safety“The fact that this is a chemical factory that had to keep operating as much as possible, made the task even more diffi cult of course”, said Deboutte. “Safety was always a top priority. ASK Romein did an excellent job, according to high-quality standards and in a safe manner.”

“EEn drAAiEndE ChEmiSChE FABriEk uitBrEidEn. niEt EvidEnt!INEOS Phenol, producent van fenol en aceton in de Antwerpse haven, stond voor een hele uitdaging: de productieplant op een veilige manier uitbreiden met een minimum aan hinder voor de in dienst zijnde installaties. Verschillende aannemers werden bij de werken ingeschakeld.

ASK Romein nam de staalconstructies voor zijn rekening, zowel de constructie zelf als de plaatsing. In totaal ging het om een project met meer dan 1800 ton staal. “Sommige zaken waren allesbehalve evident”, vertelt Kris Deboutte, Director Engineering & Maintenance van INEOS Phenol. “Zo moesten er enerzijds nieuwe structuren bijkomen, anderzijds vroegen sommige bestaande constructies om een volledige ombouw. Een van de grote uitdagingen was het plaatsen van een volledig nieuwe verdieping op een bestaande piperack doorheen de hele installatie. In totaal moesten er duizenden gaten worden geboord in de bestaande constructies.”

Veiligheid“Dat dit een scheikundige fabriek is die maximaal moest blijven draaien, maakte het uiteraard nog moeilijker”, vertelt Deboutte. “Veiligheid blijft steeds de eerste prioriteit. ASK Romein heeft de opdracht mooi afgewerkt, kwalitatief zoals het moet én op een veilige manier.”
