The European Championship Holstein & Red Holstein
Presentation
The European Championship is the most prestigious Holstein competition in Europe. It is organized every
3 years by one of the members of the European Holstein confederation (EHRC).
In 2019, the Walloon Region of Belgium will have the great privilege of being in charge of organizing this
championship. The next event will be held on 12 and 13 April 2019 in Libramont (Belgium), at the heart of
Europe.
Libramont is easily accessible from all the European capitals. Located in the center of the province of
Luxembourg, Libramont enjoys a strategic geographical position (close to motorways, main railways and

Ambitions and goals of the competition
The European Championship Holstein & Red Holstein plays a major role in the promotion of Holstein
farms in Europe and around the world. It is the opportunity for the participating countries to present the results
of their work and their know-how under excellent working conditions.
Besides the competition, the championship is also the opportunity for the member countries of the EHRC and
their federation to share their knowledge, discuss issues and develop genetic progress and new working
practices.
For professionals, this event represents in general the knowledge and skills relating to Holsteins between the
members of the EHRC. The Holstein Championship is a logical part of the work undertaken by the European
Confederation and its Member States.
Organizer – Holstein Libramont 2019
« We have decided to join forces in order to set up this new edition of the European Championship Holstein & Red Holstein on 12 and 13 April 2019 in Libramont ».
This exceptional event will result in bringing together the best Holstein cows from across Europe.
Beyond this genetic competition, the goal is to make it a major event, combining exchanges, information,
meetings and featuring products and services for breeders. »
Libramont 2019 will be organized through a collaboration of the Libramont Fair and the technical support
of the Walloon Breeding Association (AWE) and its Holstein Herd-Book.
Each team will act in complementarity :
• The Libamont Fair will manage the infrastructures (Libramont Exhibition & Congress), as well as all
financial and commercial issues for the exhibitors and partners. They will be the focal point for all
visitors before and during the event.

• AWE (Walloon Breeding Association) will organize all the practical aspects related to the
show, in collaboration with EHRC. These includes e.g. the contact with federations, the
registration of animals, the organization of show and its rules.

Our expertise in breeding and our professionalism in terms of hospitality :
• Agricultural Fair of Libramont : is a huge open-air exhibition that welcomes more than 200.000
visitors, along with 800 exhibitors during 4 days. It is an outstanding showcase for the rural world.
Used to bring together the professionals of the industry and to create international contacts

• Nuit de la Holstein (Libramont) : a unique show organized each year in March and known all over
Europe. The idea of its creation comes from the local breeders and is nowadays a Fair gathering 200
Holsteins coming from the core of Europe (www.nuitdelaholstein.be).
• European Young Breeders School – EYBS (Battice) : it trained numerous young breeders to
preparation practices of the animals and their presentation. EYBS is the best training of this kind
all over the world (www.eybs.eu).
Partners in the event
The visitors will be able to enjoy different activities and commercial exhibitions. Both indoor and outdoor
spaces will be arranged so that Belgian and European visitors find at this great Holstein fair all the activities
of the largest European shows.
Involving our partners in the project will allow breeders to discover the latest commercial offers and the latest
breeding technologies and products. Some equipment will be used under real conditions to display all its
qualities.

The Libramont Exhibition & Congress
To host the European Holstein & Red Holstein championship in the best conditions, the setting must be
worthy of the event.
Libramont Exhibition & Congress is a new facility for
meetings and exchange anchored in the midst of nature.
This innovative multifunctional complex can host all
types of events for 200 to 200.000 people (meetings,
incentives, exhibitions, congresses and events).
Location
Located in the heart of the Belgian Ardenne,
Libramont enjoys a strategic geographical
position. It is located close to motorways and
nationals (E411, E25, N4, and N89) and main-line
railways (Line 162 Brussels-Luxembourg) as well
as the two major airports of the country (Brussels-
Zaventem and Brussels-Charleroi). Our German,
French and Luxembourgish neighbours will find an
ideal destination which is both close but also
provides a change of scenery. It is therefore an
ideal geographical situation for the organisation of
a European event.
The complex
Libramont Exhibition & Congress is located at the heart of a 60-hectare site where the Libramont
agricultural, forestry and agri-food fair is held every year at the end of July (220.000 visitors and 820
exhibitors). The Libramont Agricultural Fair has been an exceptional showcase since 1926. This
demonstrates the ability of the site to host big events.
Libramont Exhibition & Congress is a high-tech complex of indoor modular conference rooms, offices and
exhibition halls on 12.000 m² + 80.000 m² of outdoor facilities and parking for more than 3.000 vehicules.
These facilities were designed to optimize the working conditions, the comfort of exhibitors, visitors and
animals : upmarket furniture, IT network, restaurant and catering, livestock loading and unloading areas, etc.
