DaY 1: (123 miles) Cross the Mackinac Bridge and head west on scenic Route 2. At Palms Book State Park float atop the crystal clear waters of Kitch-iti-Kipi, or Big Spring on an observation raft.

DaY 2 (222 miles) From Palms Books State Park continue west to Lake Gogebic, a perfect base for day trips to Agate Falls and the Porcupine Mountains on the shore of Lake Superior.

Take the scenic drive along US-31 that hugs the western coastline of the Lower Peninsula. Enjoy the Betsie River Game Area, then stop for lunch in historic Manistee before heading south toward Ludington State Park’s Big Sable Point Lighthouse. Continue south to Muskegon State Park.
