THE AIM OF MY THESIS IS TO DEVELOP A VIBRANT AND GREEN LANDSCAPE

IN FLUSHING CORONA PARK. THE NEW PROGRAMMATIC MATRIX FOR THE

PARK COMBINES ACTIVITIES AND LANDSCAPE. NEW MULTY-USE FACILITIES

WILL BE BUILT THROUGHOUT THE PARK, IN ORDER TO ACCOMMODATE A

MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITY. THE PROGRAM IS SUBDIVIDED INTO CULTUR-

AL FACILITIES, PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES, NATURAL FACILITIES AND UTILITIES.

THE MAIN FOCUS FOR THE FLUSHING CORONA PARK REVITALIZATION IS A

CULTURAL ART CENTER WHICH WILL CREATE A SPACE WHERE PEOPLE

COME TOGETHER TO SHARE THEIR IDEAS, TALK, SING, PAINT, DANCE AND

ENHANCE THEIR SOCIAL AND CULTURAL LIFE. AT THE FINAL STAGE, THE

MEADOW LAKE WILL BE ECOLOGICALLY RESTORED AND ITS NATURAL HABI-

TATS WILL BE DRAMATICALLY EXPANDED USING VARIOUS NATURAL FILTRA-

TION METHODS INCLUDING WETLAND POOLS, AGRICULTURAL FIELDS,

VEGETABLE GARDENS, PASTURES, FRESH WATER HABITATS, RESERVOIRS,

WATER FILTRATION SWALES AND SOIL BUFFERS IN ORDER TO ELIMINATE

THE WATER POLLUTION. THE WATER INFILTRATION RATE OF THE EXISTING

SOIL IS ALSO CRITICAL, NOT ONLY TO NATURAL FILTRATION PROCESSES

BUT ALSO TO COUNTER FLOODING IN CERTAIN AREAS OF FLUSHING

CORONA PARK.
