Mehmet Çelikel High School is a co-educational high school

founded in 1938. Admission is based on the standardized

high school entrance exam developed by the Ministry of

National Education. Students are between 14 to 18 and

highly motivated. Education is in Turkish but students also

learn English and German as a second language.

The school aims to educate students

to strive to become leaders in their

chosen fields. It has a good pedigree

and many alumni from its earliest

days up to today have played

instrumental roles in areas like

politics, arts and education in Turkey.

Located on a hill commanding the city,

the school building has a beautiful

view of the sea.

The classrooms,offices and the library are continuously renovated to

meet the newly arising needs. Classes are equipped with the

TWBs,internet and labtops.

The students are encouraged to engage in the school

clubs. Each year several drama productions,music

and dance performances and concerts take place ,

addressing a mixed audience of school community

and guests.

Participating in drama clubs students have the possibility to express themselves and develop their talent.

Music club provides the students to share their talent with a large audience.

Dance club offers them both modern and traditional dance courses.

Scout club provides students with an opportunity to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, and reinforce ethical standards. These opportunities not only help them when they are young but also carry forward into their adult lives, improving their relationships, their work lives, their family lives.

The English Club aims to contribute to the students’ intellectual development by teaching them essential language and literature skills. To make English fluency an achieveable learning outcome, we put an emphasis on insightful thinking, imaginative and academic writing, precise discussion, and careful reading . A range of varied literary works are used in as a springboard to hone the students’ literacy skills and conceptual understanding while also maintaining an appreciation for the work itself.

Students refine and articulate their ideas through

discussions, presentations, and performances.

The school has a formal alumni association which enables former graduates to be reunited with Annual Rice Day and they perpetuate ties of affection and esteem that they formed during their school days.

Every year students get their diplomas with an excellent ceremony

At the end of the year they have wonderful time holding the prom.
