Typical czech meals
• Fried cheese (Smažený sýr) – usually Edam
• Potato pancake (Bramborák or Cmunda)• Made of potatoes, flour, eggs, garlic and
marjoram
• Czechs don´t eat lot of sea fish• They eat freshwater fish (especially carp on
Christmas)
Soup
• Czechs like soup before main course
• Typical Czech soups are bramboračka, kulajda, and kyselo
Bramboračka
• Made of potatoes, mushrooms, carrot, celery, parsley, garlic and marjoram
Kulajda
• Made of cream, mushrooms, potatoes and eggs
Dumplings
• Dumplings (Knedlíky) are typical Czech dish• Three types - made of potatoes
- made of bread roll - fruit dumplings (sweet)
Meals with dumplings
• Marinated beef sirloin (Svíčková na smetaně)• Sauce is made of carrots, parsley, celery root
and onion
• Roast pork with dumplings and Sauerkraut (knedlo-vepřo-zelo)
